Super7 surprised us with some hard to find old favorites returning to the ThunderCats Ultimates line, but with a new twist! That’s right some of your favorites return! Packaged in the new style Super7 Ultimates packaging, this Lion-O reissue features a cool illustration of Lion-O on the front and rear of the packaging. The rear of the package includes an illustration of Lion-O with a bio that reads ” Smart, fast and skilled as a warrior, Lion-O is the prince-turned king of the ThunderCats. A boy when they fled Thundera, he now as a young adult, has the mind and temperament of a 12-year old, so he has some maturing to do. His exclusive weapon, the Sword of Omens, gives him the power of “Sight Beyond Sight” and makes him the dire enemy of the evil Mumm-Ra.”

This version of Lion-O is a great upgrade to version 1, with pinless joints and uses the same newer buck that Mirror Lion-O and Wave 6 Toy Variant Lion-O uses. You can see the updated ab crunch and cleaner elbow and knee joints.
Here the new buck with pinless joints is so obvious as you can see what a vast improvement this version is.
His hair color is redder than the V1 version, and much less wash, which I really like. I always felt that the first version of Lion-O’s hair was always too dark, so this is a welcome update.
Close ups of Lion-O’s torso with his nice belt with the ThunderCats logo on it. He also includes a Claw Sheild with short sword of Omen you can clip to the side of his belt. The sword can be removed from the claw shield and held in his hands.
A look at that short Sword of Omens once removed from the Claw Shield. Also here is a close up of Lion-O’s alternate head. He has a fierce grimacing look on his face.
Lion-O comes with multiple Claw Shields that attach to his left hand peg. There is an open hand, a closed fist and a Claw Sheild with a shooting claw!
Some more fun poses. One of his alternate hands has a vertical hinge joint so you can hold the Sword of Omens aloft!
Finally, you can see here doing the classic “Sight beyond Sight” pose.
Version 1 vs Reissue Comparison
Let’s take a look at the Version 1 vs Reissue Comparison. The biggest change of course is the use of the pinless more recent buck. The skin color of the new version is alittle bit light than the first version, and of course as mentioned above, the new version has redder hair with much less dark wash in it. It looks much better. The body proportions of the new reissue buck are much better as it looks much more of a natural design for Lion-O.
Finally, looking at the side views, you can see the new reissue version uses the pinless joints in his elbows and knees.
