“I am Mer-Man, ruler of the undersea realm!” Skeletor’s aquatic warlord is getting the Mondo treatment in glorious 200X style, and boy are we thrilled! Huge thanks to @mondonews for sharing official images of their upcoming Masters of the Universe 200X Mer-Man 1/12 Scale Figure, which is available as a Timed Edition preorder starting Tuesday, October 13 at 9AM PT through Friday, October 23 at 10AM PT over at MondoShop.com. I always loved the 200X redesigns of the classic MOTU villains, and Mer-Man was one of the characters who benefited the most from that era’s more detailed, more menacing aesthetic. Mondo has really leaned into that here, and the results are stunning. This figure comes loaded with four swappable portraits, interchangeable hands, his iconic trident with an energy blast attachment, his sword, and the powerful Coridite Crystal. And that detailed environmental base looks like it was pulled straight from the depths of Crystal Sea. The fact that this is a Timed Edition is super exciting because it means every collector who wants one during the preorder window should be able to grab one without the stress of a limited drop selling out in seconds. I love when companies do this because it lets the community breathe and plan rather than scramble. Mondo continues to knock it out of the park with their Masters of the Universe 200X line, and seeing deep cut villain love like this makes me so happy. Outfitted with gold-plated knee guards, each inset with a blue Coridite Crystal, Mer-Man’s lower half carries just as much sculptural detail as the torso, with layered green scales wrapping around the thighs and a tattered dark fabric loincloth adding some great contrast. I like how the gold claw-tipped boots mirror the fin and spike motifs found throughout the rest of his armor, tying the whole design together from crown to toe.

Mer-Man’s trident gets a great showcase here, and the sculpted headpiece really does look like it’s carved from ancient bone, with those three prongs flaring out around the inset Coridite Crystal. His segmented tail stretches out behind him, covered in ridged, spine-like texturing that gives it a wonderfully serpentine quality you don’t always see on aquatic villain figures.

Mer-Man towers over He-Man in this fantastic encounter, and that translucent orange energy blast attachment looks phenomenal erupting from his maw, with the gradient shifting from fiery amber at the base to a bright, almost molten white at the tips. Something I appreciate here is how the scaled fish-scale patterning across his torso armor catches warm tones while He-Man’s teal-glowing battle axe provides a striking color contrast below.

Mer-Man’s sword really shines here, with that ornate butterfly-wing crossguard featuring twin blue Coridite Crystals flanking the leather-wrapped grip. I like how the tattered loincloth strips, sculpted in deep brown and dark green, add a sense of wear and decay that contrasts beautifully against all that pristine gold armor plating.

Mer-Man looks right at home alongside Clawful here, and the size difference between the two really sells the hulking scale of that massive crustacean figure with its enormous red pincer curling forward. I like the way Mer-Man’s green and gold color palette plays off Clawful’s deep crimson and pink tones, with that bright green blaster adding an unexpected pop of color to the pairing.

Mer-Man absolutely dwarfs He-Man in this scene, and the sheer scale difference between the two figures really hammers home just how imposing that 200X redesign is with all its layered armor and towering crown. One thing I noticed right away is the gnarly spiked mace dangling from his gauntlet, a detail I hadn’t caught before, with those barbed gold prongs clustered together like some kind of deep-sea urchin weapon.

Armed with his trident, Mer-Man looks incredible here, and I’m really digging the bone-like texture sculpted into that weapon, complete with a blue gemstone set into the ornate headpiece where the three prongs flare out. The environmental base is packed with detail, featuring organic rock formations, clustered sea anemone-like growths, and a translucent purple crystal formation that adds a gorgeous splash of color beneath the figure.

Mer-Man is absolutely loaded with ornate armor, layered in gold and deep green with brilliant blue gemstones embedded across the chest, knees, and gauntlets. His sword has this incredible organic texture, ridged and tapered like a sharpened coral spine, and it pairs perfectly with the aquatic detailing woven into every piece of his armor.

A close-up reveals the incredible sculpt work on Mer-Man’s face, with those piercing teal slit-pupil eyes set deep beneath a jagged, fin-like crown of dark green ridges. You can see how the rows of sharp white teeth line his open maw, and that metallic blue Coridite Crystal embedded just below the collar really pops against the warm gold of his scaled armor.
