Summary

Mattel brings us one of the most iconic Masters of the Universe figures with Flying Fists He-Man! An absolutely beautiful homage to the original 1985 vintage figure, complete with his shiny vac-metal armor, He-man swings with awesome might!

Card back Art

The deluxe packaging for Flying Fists He-man harkens back to the original vintage packaging. The front of the card back pays homage to the vintage card back with the blue background and red rock burst! Complimented by the image of Flying Fist He-Man swinging his mighty 3-headed mace. Also includes the “New for 22”, yellow “Modern Posing Retro Play” burst and action call-out of “Swings with awesome might” yellow burst as well.

The back of the card back features amazing artwork by the great Axel Gimenez. The artwork features Flying Fists He-Man swinging his mace with Fisto, Syklone, and Mossman by his side, and you will also notice a partial view of Eternia. What makes this card back artwork truly amazing is that this is one half of giant image that features the rest of Eternia with Terror Claw Skeletor, Two Bad and Spikor; when placed next to the Terror Claw Skeletor deluxe figure card back.

The rest of the back of the card back features the typical cross sell art featuring all the Wave 7 characters and the Battle Action features of Flying Fist He-man with its distinctive illustrated instructions.

Head Sculpt

Flying Fists He-Man comes with his vintage inspired head sculpt, which has become the norm in all recent He-Man releases. The package also includes a second alternate head with the wind-swept hair look, the same as what was packaged with the Battlefield Warriors set. The one and only complaint I will have with this figure is that the vintage style head does not fit properly on the neck peg, it moves around and is very loose. The wind-swept head how-ever, fits perfectly; go figure? The neck peg is also frozen in place as only one half of the body mold was cut out to make room for it. I will note these have been commonly reported problems with this figure, so I don’t think this is a one-off issue.

Arms/Waist / Legs

The figure comes with the Standard He-Man arms, but this time with red colored bracers. The arms are not removeable, similar to Battle Armor He-Man. This is to allow for the arms to use their action feature. Holding the battle grip on his back and rotating it back and forth or using the grip wheel activates his “swings with awesome might” flying fist attack feature! Man, I could play with that all day!!!

Flying Fists He-Man’s waist and legs are again the same standard design as the other He-Man figures, but this time with a red belt, brown shorts and brown boots with white furry trim. I think this looks fantastic and again a direct harkening back to the vintage toy!

Weapons and Accessories

Flying Fist He-Man comes with the 3-headed mace, shiny spinning shield, full power sword, alternate wind-swept head and an extra gripping hand.  

3 – Headed Mace: This weapon of choice for Flying Fist He Man is a direct homage to the vintage accessory. Two of the mace heads are a shiny vac metal finish, while the third one has a matte finish. You may ask yourself, was this a factory error? Upon closer examination, you will notice that the back side of the 3^rd matte colored mace is not hollow like the other 2 vac metal ones. As a matter of fact, it is weighted to allow the mace to do that cool spiny action! When you place the mace in He-Man’s hand and rotate the battle grip on his back, it activates the spectacular action feature and He-Man swings that mace like there’s no tomorrow!

Shiny spinning shield: The shield again is a direct call back to the vintage shield. The front section is a silver vac metal with red accents. The rear half of the shield is gold colored plastic, with a hand grip for He-Man to hold onto. The shield spins and is activated just like the mace with by rotating the battle grip on his back. With both the mace and shield in He-Man’s hands, once those flying fists get moving, Skeletor and his buddies better get out of the way, cause there’s no stopping the Flying Fist’s of fury!!!

Full Power Sword: This is the same silver full power sword that has been coming with all He-Man releases since the vintage style single carded version.

Gripping Hand: This is the same standard left gripping hand that comes with all the previous deluxe He-Man releases.

Wind-swept alternate head: Again, this is the same wind-swept hair alternate head that the was packaged with the Battlefield Warriors set. He has that screaming attack look on his face!
