This review is hot off the heels of our in-hand images of Whiplash from the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Wave 26, and now we’ve got another surprise in store! Mr. Home Arcade has come through once again, sharing brand-new in-hand images of Shadow Weaver, giving us an early look at another figure from the upcoming wave. These figures were first revealed back in April 2025, and we initially reported in December 2024 that the rest of the assortment—Bow and Shadow Weaver—were slated to join the line. The card art for Shadow Weaver in the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection captures a dramatic and mystical moment inspired by the She-Ra: Princess of Power episode “The Eldritch Mist.” Shadow Weaver is illustrated casting a powerful spell, her arms raised as magical energy swirls around her, with the Eldritch Book of Spells floating in front of her. She’s cloaked in a deep magenta shroud with glowing yellow eyes that pierce through the mist, creating an aura of dark sorcery. In the background, nestled among fluffy pink foliage, we catch a glimpse of Prince Adam, Kowl, Castaspella, and Adora cautiously watching from the shadows—an exciting tease that hints at potential future releases in the Cartoon Collection line.

This image shows Shadow Weaver positioned on a clear stand that gives the illusion she is levitating. The stand lifts the figure slightly off the ground, creating a floating effect that reflects how she often appeared on-screen in the Filmation cartoon.

Final Fright Mini Comic

The cover of the Final Fright mini comic, included with the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Wave 26 assortment, is a bold and dynamic illustration that brings the characters of this wave front and center. At the heart of the composition is She-Ra, confidently holding her Sword of Protection, flanked by Bow on the right with his golden bow drawn, and Whiplash looming menacingly on the left. Shadow Weaver floats alongside them in a dramatic spellcasting pose, her gnarled hand and wand with dark magic. The artwork channels vintage Filmation energy, brought to life by writer Joshua Sky, who continues to expand the lore for the Cartoon Collection through incredible storytelling!

Pages 1 and 2 of the Final Fright mini comic set the stage with a recap of the Horde Invasion saga, where Hordak launched a brutal campaign on Etheria and Eternia, besieging the Crystal Castle and nearly defeating the Masters of the Universe. With Skeletor captured and He-Man having traveled to Primus to rally his future self, the tide turned and Hordak’s armada was destroyed, freeing She-Ra and her allies. Now, He-Man and She-Ra prepare for a daring rescue mission in the Fright Zone to save Skeletor. As the heroes gather, Bow joins the charge, and the team braces for battle amid a stormy landscape. Meanwhile, Hordak faces pressure from the Overseers of Despondos, who question his failing campaign as a massive serpent beast attacks. The tension builds as Hordak declares his trap is already in motion, planning to reclaim dominion once the Masters fall. The Horde Command Crawler, Mantisaur, and the Fright Zone creature are all featured!

Pages 3 and 4 of the Final Fright mini comic escalate the battle as Skeletor emerges from the portal with renewed power, defiantly declaring Despondos a mere stepping stone on his path to universal domination. Meanwhile, Bow is wounded by Shadow Weaver’s dark magic, his fate left in limbo as he falls into a state between life and death. The heroes clash with a monstrous serpent, which retreats after a fierce assault from He-Man and Bow, but not without injury. Shadow Weaver is revealed to be the mastermind behind the creature’s attack and the larger scheme, manipulating events from the shadows. As He-Man confronts Skeletor, he urges peace, but Skeletor—paralyzed and urged on by Hordak—faces a choice: to prove loyalty to darkness or reclaim his identity. With his pride intact, Skeletor defiantly rejects Hordak’s command, declaring, “Skeletor serves no one!” in a bold act of resistance.

Pages 5 and 6 of the mini comic Final Fright depict the climactic confrontation between She-Ra, He-Man, Skeletor, and Hordak. Shadow Weaver retreats, abandoning Hordak, while Skeletor considers joining forces with his niece and nephew. She-Ra’s words strike a chord with him, and as they unite, He-Man and She-Ra summon their combined power. A massive energy blast sends Hordak spiraling into a green void as a booming voice condemns him to eternal imprisonment in Despondos and severing his hand in the process. Skeletor, briefly seized by Hordak in desperation, is freed when Hordak is vanquished. As silence falls and the threat subsides, Skeletor quietly walks away, leaving the heroes to reflect. She-Ra wonders how things might have been different, remarking, “We are family after all,” as the story closes with a somber but hopeful tone.
