Transformers MPG-27 Twincast & Rewind Officially Revealed by Takara Tomy
Takara Tomy has given us our first look at Transformers MPG-27 Twincast & Rewind, showing Twincast in robot mode and his blue-and-yellow boombox mode alongside Rewind and a selection of accessories. Posted on X The image is only an initial preview, with the full product announcement planned for October 2, 2026, but it gives us enough to see the direction Takara Tomy is taking with this release. For U.S. fans who recognize the familiar Blaster shape but may be wondering why he is now blue and yellow, Twincast is not simply an alternate version created for this figure. He comes directly from the Japanese G1 continuity, where Blaster was known as Broadcast. In Transformers: The Headmasters, Broadcast and Soundwave destroyed each other during their battle, temporarily taking both of the longtime rivals out of the story. Broadcast was subsequently rebuilt and upgraded as Twincast, trading his familiar red-and-yellow appearance for the blue-and-yellow colors shown here. Soundwave received a similar return as Soundblaster, which kept the rivalry going under two new names and with two new looks. That history is what makes Twincast an interesting choice for the MPG line. He may look like a blue Blaster at first glance, especially to anyone whose Transformers memories come mainly from the U.S. cartoon and toy line, but Twincast represents a specific later chapter in the character’s Japanese G1 story. The promotional image places the smaller Autobot with Twincast, his boombox mode, and the gear planned for the set, although Takara Tomy has not yet provided the complete product information. One important distinction is that October 2 appears to be the date when Takara Tomy will fully reveal MPG-27 and share those additional details.

Takara Tomy describes Twincast as the Cybertron communications officer who was “revived and powered up” from Broadcast in Transformers: The Headmasters, while Rewind is identified as a Cassettebot intelligence officer who has been active since Transformers 2010. For some additional context, Cybertron is the Japanese name for the Autobots, while Broadcast is the Japanese name for Blaster, making Twincast the rebuilt and upgraded form of the character familiar to U.S. Transformers fans.
The promotional images give us a much better look at what to expect from MPG-27. Twincast is shown in both robot and blue-and-white boombox modes, while Rewind can transform into his cassette mode and fit inside Twincast’s chest. The set also includes an Electro-Scrambler Gun, Adhesive Gun, two Megaphones, two effect parts, Barrier Case, Monitor Panel, interchangeable head, adapter, character card, and instructions. The Megaphones and effect parts can also be attached to Twincast to recreate his sonic attack.
Takara Tomy has October 2, 2026 prominently displayed as “NEW ITEM!” on the promotional image. This appears to be teasing when additional information about MPG-27 Twincast & Rewind will be revealed rather than indicating the set’s actual release date.
