Queen Marlena MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection In-Hand Images
Huge thanks to Cob Web Collector on Instagram for sending over these amazing in hand images of the yet to be officially released MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Queen Marlena figure, and I have to say, seeing her finally come to life feels incredibly satisfying after following her trail for so long. It brings the whole story full circle because our very own Toy Sorceress worked her magic when she uncovered the original retail listing for Queen Marlena, breaking the news that she and King Randor were headed to the Cartoon Collection well before any kind of official confirmation appeared. Watching that early discovery turn into an actual figure someone can photograph and hold is one of those moments that really reminds me why I love chasing down leads and digging into these lines so deeply. There is something really fun about seeing a character move from a mysterious listing to a fully realized Cartoon Collection release, especially when it is a core character like Queen Marlena who fans have been wanting to see represented in this style for the. longest time. Getting these early images feels like a little collector victory lap, and I am thrilled to finally walk through these photos and take a closer look before Mattel formally reveals her to the world. We are not sure when this figure will be going up for preorder but keep track of the Walmart listing in case she drops! Be sure to check out his YouTube review too!
The Royal Family
The figure is shown with the Royal Family of Eternia, and I love how she fits right into this lineup as she stands beside King Randor v1, Prince Adam, and She-Ra. She’s sporting her long green gown with the sharp V-cut accents at the waist and that familiar gold crown perched over her red hair, and the sculpt brings a clean, animated look to her face that really pops in person. Seeing her posed here with the others gives her a natural sense of motion, and she holds her own visually with her smooth dress folds and confident stance.

The card back art shows Queen Marlena front and center in her deep green gown with that sharp, flared collar and gold-trimmed belt, and I love how the art captures her poised look from the cartoon while she stands in front of the sleek Eternian aircraft tied to her story. Off to the side, a guardsman is signaling in the background, adding a bit of movement to the scene, while she sits in the cockpit with her space suit. The artwork nails the vibe of her episode with its bold colors, crisp outlines, and that classic animated feel that really brings the moment to life.

The figure features a clean, elegant Queen Marlena look with her long green gown, flared collar, and yellow V-shaped waist detail giving her that classic animated royal silhouette as she stands poised in front of Castle Grayskull. Once the gown is removed, she shifts into her Captain Glenn appearance with a sleek teal bodysuit that shows off the sculpted seams and padded sleeves, black boots that bring in a more functional vibe, and her white-and-gray helmet tucked in hand to hint at her days as an explorer. Here are her two looks as you can transform her into Captain Glenn by removing her dress, which we will show you below.

The figure features a fully removable hair piece that lifts cleanly off the head, revealing the connection port underneath so you can swap between her Queen Marlena and Captain Glenn looks. The sculpted red hair with the gold crown slides into place securely, letting you pop it on and off smoothly without stressing the figure.

You also have to split the figure in half and then remove the legs from under the dress, letting you separate the torso cleanly and slide the skirt piece off so the Captain Glenn body can be fully revealed underneath.

You also have to slide the upper part of her dress off once the figure is split in half, letting that top section lift away so her full Captain Glenn upper body is exposed underneath.

Here is how she looks in her space uniform, and I love seeing the sleek teal suit paired with the white wrap and dark helmet. As we suspected, the visor moves up and down for displayability purposes, giving you a clean open-face look or a fully sealed helmet depending on how you want to pose her.

Here is a close-up, and I love how you can see her face through the tinted plastic, giving that subtle animated look while still keeping the helmet design true to the episode.
