Huge thanks to Masterversal ToyHunter for the heads up on this one because this is the kind of find that instantly gets my attention, with the Mer-Man Masterverse Vintage Collection figure surfacing on eBay and finally giving us our first real look at both the packaging art and the figure itself after months of radio silence, especially since we have only had a single official image to go off of ever since he originally went up for preorder during the October 2025 edition of Walmart Collector Con, and as someone who closely follows every twist and turn of the Masterverse Vintage Collection, it is exciting and a little surreal to suddenly see full carded shots appear out in the wild like this. What makes this situation even more interesting is that since that initial preorder window, Walmart has quietly pulled the listing altogether, which means that at the time of writing, eBay may legitimately be the only place collectors can actually see what this release looks like in hand and potentially secure one, adding an unexpected layer of urgency and intrigue to the whole thing. Seeing Mer-Man represented in this vintage-inspired Masterverse format feels like a long time coming, and having access to the packaging art at last helps paint a clearer picture of how Mattel is positioning this figure within the line, especially for collectors who care just as much about the card art as they do the figure inside the bubble. I always get a kick out of moments like this where the collector community does the detective work, filling in the gaps left by official reveals, and this eBay appearance does exactly that by answering questions we have all been sitting on since last fall while also raising a few new ones about availability, timing, and what Walmart’s next move might be.

The back of the box leans hard into classic Masters of the Universe storytelling, and I love how it drops you straight into an underwater moment with Mer-Man swimming forward, weapon in hand, surrounded by sea life and motion lines that sell the depth and pressure of the scene. Up above in the background, Beast Man and Skeletor are hauling Teela back toward Castle Grayskull, and you can clearly see Skeletor raising the Power Sword as the drawbridge opens, which ties the ocean threat directly to what’s happening on land. It feels like a snapshot pulled right out of an 80s mini comic, with Mer-Man positioned as the unseen force beneath the surface while the larger Grayskull capture unfolds behind him, and as a longtime fan, this kind of layered visual storytelling really hits for me.

Errol McCarthy Mer-Man Art
Mer-Man is depicted here in his natural element, a powerful and commanding figure. Though the character has occasionally been portrayed as somewhat simplistic, this illustration rejects such interpretations, instead presenting Mer-Man as a master of his aquatic domain. The detailed rendering emphasizes his control over the environment, showcasing his inherent strength and intelligence. This portrayal aligns with McCarthy’s broader artistic vision, offering a nuanced and dignified representation of a character often reduced to less complex roles in other depictions.

October 3, 2025 Update: Official Image Added
The official image shows the Mer-Man Masterverse Vintage Collection figure decked out in his classic green skin with orange accents around his eyes. His armor captures the classic vintage style with bold yellow details and a red chest plate centerpiece. The sculpt highlights his scaly texture, gill-like face, and large expressive eyes. He comes with two accessories: a yellow trident featuring a blue gem and a serrated yellow sword.
