Modulok MOTU Origins Hi-Res Box Art Teases Deep Cut Characters and More Princess of Power Figures

Following up on his Modulok box art tease, Roy Juarez delivers a stunning visual with the full reveal of the Modulok MOTU Origins box art. It’s so exciting to finally get to see the box art for Modulok, which comes with a plethora of deep cut teases and brand new characters! Modulok is an interesting and kooky characater this is obviously his “vintage” MOTU Origins figure but his description has been touted as a Cartoon Collection figure. Could this be a new way to combine MOTU Origins and Cartoon Collection teases into a single box? Only time will tell but until then, let’s take a look at the amazing box art! Before we dive in, we wanted to give a huge shoutout to Toy Habits Crew Member and long time friend Allison Troy, the Retro Toy Princess, for helping us think through a lot of the new concepts and characters that were seen on this box art and sending along the concepts.

October 19, 2024: Modulok Box Art Tease

Roy posted a 360 degree view of the box, which has some stellar eye candy!

There is an amazing battle scene on Modulok’s box and it teases so deep cut characters who we think are some of Axel Gimenez’s concepts from the MOTU Classices era! There are also a plethora of PoP figures we are hoping will make it to the line!

Whether these characters will actually make it into plastic remains to be seen but there are so many easter eggs in this box art!

Mini Comic Adora

We can see Adora behind Modulok as she is in her mini comic form!

In the first She-Ra mini-comic, “The Story of She-Ra”, when Adora transformed into She-Ra, she wore her tiara upside down as a mask and her cape disappeared!

Light Hope

Light Hope is a mystical character from the She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoon, produced by Filmation in the 1980s. He serves as the guardian and guiding force of the Crystal Castle, which is located on the planet Etheria. Light Hope is a being made of pure energy and light, often appearing as a column or figure of light. His role is to assist and guide Adora (She-Ra) in her fight against the evil Horde, offering wisdom and advice whenever she visits the Crystal Castle.

Bug Eye

We think the new character on the cliff in this part of the scene could be one of Axel Gimenez’s MOTU Classics concepts called Bug-Eye, which uses parts from Modulok.

With Rokkon being the first MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive, we get to see new teases from the amazing card art and the mini comic. In addition to the amazing stories penned by the talented MOTU mini comic writer, @joshuaskywriter, we also get to see more future MOTU Origins eye candy! As we get more information from the Rokkon MOTU Origins release, there is a very special someone featured on the front page of the MOTU Origins mini comic. Granita, Rokkon’s sister, is featured on The Spear of Eternity MOTU Origins mini comic! We also discovered that Stonedar was teased on Rokkon’s card art in a very cool way and it will be great to see them both in the Origins line!

Granita

According to the Wiki Grayskull, “Granita and her brother Rokkon were raised by their wise mentor and leader Stonedar on the planet Geolon until it was destroyed by Horde Prime. Although the Comet Warriors were scattered in space, Granita followed Stonedar, who had saved their precious Sun Stone and with it led them to the safety of another planet: Eternia. Upon landing, Granita was horrified to learn the Horde were in the process of invading. While Rokkon was eager to fight as always, Granita believed that higher powers had intended them to help spare Eternia from the same fate as Geolon.

Her faith persuaded the pacifist Stonedar to choose to fight alongside the Eternians. After the Second Ultimate Battleground, Glimmer invited Granita and many of the Comet Warriors’ youth to Etheria where they could access Crystal World and develop new forms and powers. Alongside the Star Sisters and Queen Zal of Zal-Kron, Granita defended the barrier from Shadow Weaver and others seeking to steal Crystal World’s magic. Later, Stonedar named Granita as his successor to lead their people.”

MOTU Classics Granita

Released in 2018 as part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line, Granita is a Heroic Comet Combatant from the She-Ra and the Princess of Power Filmation cartoon from the 1980’s.

Granita-Masters-of-the-Universe-Classics-Card-Front

Granita’s bio reads: “Granita and her brother Rokkon were raised by their wise mentor and leader Stonedar on the planet Geolon until it was destroyed by Horde Prime.

He transforms into a comet, like Rokkon and Stonedar, but the figure can be displayed as a standalone with out the rock peices.

Granita MOTU Origins Concept

It is not a slam dunk that Granita will make it into the MOTU Origins line but if she shares tooling with Rokkon (or Stonedar), then this would make it more likely. The figure concept pictured below is a digital render from the talented Eternal Customs! If Granita was made into a figure, we would likely see a design similar to this one but with the commet peices from Rokkon to attach to her arms and legs.

Granita-Masters-of-the-Universe-Origins-Concept

To imagine what she could like, Barbarossa Customs created a vintage Granita MOTU figure concept, which might be a likely candidate for the figure design for the MOTU Origins line. Granita has been created using the cartoon rendition as the key reference and infusing it with and modifying the style to meet the aesthetics of the vintage MOTU toy line. She fits in perfectly with her rocky compatriots, Stonedar and Rokkon and finally completes the trio of rock/comet warriors.

Granita-Masters-of-the-Universe-Origins-Concept-7

Resembling Stonedar and Rokkon from the Masters of the Universe vintage line, Barbarossa says, “This figure’s details, weapon, action feature and choice of colors have all been executed with vintage sensibilities keenly in mind. Granita comes sealed on a custom card with multiple pieces of original art. Uniquely-created and hand-crafted by the artist, this is a very limited run for the adult collector.”

Bow

We can see Bow pulling back an arrow and ready to fire one off for a direct hit on Modulok!

Bow-Loo-Kee-Modulok-MOTU-Origins-Official-Hi-Res-Box-Art-Tease-2

Bow

Bow is renowned as the best archer in all of Etheria. Equipped with an array of trick arrows, he uses his skills of illusion and his fierce patriotism for Etheria to fight the Evil Horde. Bow is also Princess Adora’s right hand man and best friend. You will notice on the vintage PoP version, that Bow was missing his signature mustache, later corrected by including 2 different heads in the MOTU Classics version.

Bow is a fictional character from the She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoon series produced by Filmation in the 1980s. He is one of the main characters and a member of the Great Rebellion, a group fighting against the tyrannical rule of Hordak and his Evil Horde.

Bow is depicted as a master archer and is considered the skilled marksman of the Great Rebellion. He is known for his accuracy and can hit targets with great precision from long distances. He wields a magical bow, which is powered by the Moonstone embedded in its center. This magical weapon allows him to shoot energy arrows, helping him in battles against enemies.

In terms of appearance, Bow has a muscular build, often seen wearing a turquoise and purple outfit with feather-like shoulder pads and a distinctive hat. He is depicted as a blonde-haired character with a playful and charismatic demeanor, often cracking jokes and lightening the mood during serious situations.

Masters of the Universe Princess of Power Bow filmation
Princess of Power Bow as see in the She-Ra Filmation cartoon

Bow is characterized as friendly, compassionate, and fiercely loyal to his comrades. He is particularly close to She-Ra, the princess-turned-rebel leader, and they share a strong bond throughout the series. Bow is often portrayed as the love interest of She-Ra, hinting at a romantic relationship between the two characters.

Aside from his archery skills, Bow is known to be resourceful and inventive. He often comes up with clever strategies, using gadgets or his quick thinking to aid the Rebellion in their fight against the Evil Horde. He is an essential member of the team due to his skills, charm, and unwavering commitment to the cause.

Overall, Bow is a beloved character in the She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoon series. With his archery prowess, sense of humor, and dedication to the cause, he plays a vital role in the adventures of She-Ra and the Great Rebellion, contributing to the show’s popularity among audiences.

The Princess of Power Bow vintage action figure was a popular figure from the 1980s. The figure was based on the character Bow from the animated television series “She-Ra: Princess of Power.”, except he did not have his signature mustache. He had 5 points of articulation like most of the action figures of the 1980’s at that time.

The vintage action figure of Bow stands at approximately 5.5 inches tall and is made of plastic. He is dressed in bright and colorful attire, featuring a red jacket with gold accents, matching pants, and white boots. Bow’s most recognizable feature is his distinctive helmet, which has heart-shaped cutouts on either side of his face.

The action figure comes with various accessories, including a crossbow, three arrows, a quiver, and a sword. The crossbow can be placed in Bow’s hand, and the arrows can be stored in the quiver on his back. The sword can be attached to his waist for easy access during battles.

The Princess of Power Bow vintage action figure is highly sought after by collectors and fans of the “She-Ra” series. Its vibrant design, nostalgic value, and connection to the popular animated show make it a prized item in the world of vintage toy collecting.

Stonedar Tease

You would have missed it, if you didn’t look carefully enough, but there a tease for Stonedar on the back of the card back art! In fact, we did miss it and thanks to Chris M., a MOTU fan and collector from Germany, for emailing us and alerting to this tease that paid homage to a historic version of Stonedar.

Looking very similar to Rokkon, Roy did include a figure tease to Stonedar on the card back, paying homage to the original artwork by Earl Norem shown below.

Stonedar is the leader of the Rock People. The character appeared late in the 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line, and as such appears in relatively few stories, with little consistency. He is often accompanied by his young friend Rokkon. The pair were like transforming MOTU figures but instead turning into something cool, they turned into rocks, which reminds me of that part in the movie Big where a toy company produces a Transformer that turns into a building!

Loo-Kee, son of Pa-Pee, was a member of the Kon-Seals, a race of creatures that used their unique hiding abilities in order to aid the forces of good. Not only was Loo-Kee an expert when it came to hiding, he also had the ability to teleport short distances.

Modulok Official Images

Some official images the Masters of the Universe Modulok have been floating around the net! Revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2024, the Evil Beast of a Thousand Bodies looks amazing and the box pays homage to Modulok’s vintage box. The box front is a nice blend of the old style box with the figure on display front and center in a nice window display. The box says that he comes 34 pieces to create 1000+ monsters, which is exactly like the vintage design. Modulok has yet to go up for preorder in the U.S. but the Small Tiny Toy Store in Germany has put him up, which we have linked below. Huge thanks to masterversal_toyhunter and toyhuntershollow for the heads up! Check out the Modulok Masters of the Universe Origins official images of the box front, figure, and shipper box!
