Blast-Attak Masters of the Universe MOTU Origins Concept
While we are waiting for the remaining Masters of the Universe Origins vintage figures to play out on Mattel Creations, Mr. Home Arcade is giving us a window into what the Blast-Attak figure could look like. If you recall, Blast Attak was teased on the Eternia Playset box art, along with a host of other characters, including the recently revealed Modulok. The vintage Blast-Attak action figure from the Masters of the Universe line is an interesting character that was introduced in 1987 during the later years of the MOTU toy line. Blast-Attak is a robotic warrior with a unique feature that sets him apart from many other figures in the series—he is designed to “explode.”
Blast-Attak
Blast Attak was first seen on the trail that leads to Snake Mountain on the Eternia box art. In the Masters of the Universe lore, Blast-Attak is generally considered an ally of the Snake Men, although he is depicted as a villain overall, sometimes working alongside Skeletor’s forces.

Like most MOTU figures, Blast-Attak came packaged on a blister card, featuring bold artwork of the character exploding in action. The back of the card provided instructions on how to activate his self-destruct feature as well as showcasing other figures in the series.

The card art features Blast-Attak, illustrated by Errol McCarthy, taking on a Horde Trooper and Mosquitor as he blows himself up, assuming to take them with him in the blast.

Blast-Attak has a gray, gold, and green color scheme with red highlights and his body is designed to look mechanical, with visible bolts and circuitry. This figure had a very steampunk look and feel to it and his body has a distinctive robotic, armored look with a faceplate that resembles a grimacing living being underneath.

A member of the Evil Warriors and later the Snake Men, Blast-Attak is an android built as a walking time bomb. After a certain pre-set period of time, he will explode and cause immense damage to his surroundings, before reforming automatically. You can see the inner workings of the figure below and how he comes apart.

Blast Attak MOTU Origins Concept
Mr. Home Arcade has created a figure in MOTU Origins scale that will ultimately look very much like the official release when it is all said and done. As for the recipe of the figure, the head, hands, feet and vest are from the MOTU Classics Blast-Attack figure. The arms are from a MOTU Origins Roboto figure and the legs are from the Metal-Boto Turltes of Grayskull build-a-figure, which they are likly to use as Metal-Boto’s legs really do resemble the Blast-Attak figure’s as they can use some parts that are already created.

If you look closely, he used a MOTU Origins torso from King Randor and if you look at the vintage figure, when you split him apart, he does have red on the inside of the body.

The arms from Roboto were a great idea as Blast Attak’s vintage figure did not directly use Roboto’s arms in his vintage design, but they came very close.
