Great Wars Underworld Door MOTU 2026 Los Amigos Convention Exclusive
We got our first look at a stunning new Masters of the Universe custom diorama piece that’s going to turn heads at this year’s Los Amigos Convention, and it’s one of those projects that reminds you just how deep and passionate this community really is. The Great Wars Underworld Door is a limited edition custom diorama designed by @axel.gimenez, and it will be available on June 13, 2026 at the Los Amigos Convention in Heidelberg, Germany. When we say limited, we mean it as their will only be 20 pieces made! The dio is based on the underground entrance to Castle Grayskull from the Lost City of the Ancients, as seen in the 2002 MYP episode “Underworld,” which is already a deep cut that longtime fans of the 200x era will immediately recognize and appreciate. What makes this even more special is the history behind it, because Axel originally adapted this design years ago for the Classics line style and incorporated it into his now iconic 2014 poster featuring the cutaway view of Castle Grayskull, which means this diorama has been living in the lore of the community for over a decade before finally becoming a physical piece collectors can own. The Door itself includes an Energy Anvil with an inner light designed to hold the Power Sword, of which two are included, along with a reliquary featuring a magnet mechanism that lets you open and access the door, which is exactly the kind of thoughtful, interactive detail that elevates a display piece into something you genuinely want to engage with. The creative team behind this is impressive, with artwork by Axel and @dc_alonso_colorist, early traditional sculpting by @blued.sculptures, 3D sculpting by @teenturtle.customs, 3D printing, assembly, painting, and handcrafted finishing by @thesecretsoforko, and box and printing design by @spirits_of_grayskull. This is a full circle moment for a design that started as concept art, evolved through poster form, and has now been brought into three dimensions by a talented group of creators who clearly understand what Castle Grayskull means to this hobby. If you’re going to be anywhere near Heidelberg on June 13th, this is the kind of convention exclusive that makes the trip worth it.
Underworld Door Images
The promotional artwork for the Great Wars Underworld Door features a richly illustrated cavern scene by Axel Gimenez and David Alonso, with a massive stone skull gateway glowing from within, its mouth radiating an eerie blue light that illuminates a sword resting atop the Energy Anvil. A nod to The Incarnate concept stands before the portal, and the painterly color work here layers deep greens, blues, and warm reds throughout the rock formations, giving the whole piece a real sense of atmosphere.

The sculpt on the Great Wars Underworld Door is impressively detailed, with layered stone formations in muted gray-green tones framed by large red-orange boulders that give the whole piece a volcanic feel. The Energy Anvil glows with a bright green light from within the skull-shaped gateway, and the rocky teeth lining the base of the opening really sell the construction here, that head sculpt is really solid.

The translucent green Energy Anvil casts a vivid glow against the surrounding stone, and the sculpted vine detail draping down from the gateway adds a nice organic element to the cavern interior. I like how the anvil’s light catches the textured rock surfaces around it, highlighting the depth of the carving work throughout.

The reliquary accessory is a hefty-looking sculpted column covered in carved runes and topped with a grimacing lion-like face, with a small ring at the base and a matte stone-gray finish throughout. On the companion shot, the Great Wars Underworld Door shows the reliquary held against the arched wooden door, and the magnet system lets it latch right onto the surface to trigger access, a clever functional detail that ties into the lore of the piece.

The brown corrugated shipper box for the Great Wars Underworld Door measures 70 cm tall by 35 cm wide and 35 cm deep, so this is a sizable piece to plan around if you’re picking it up at the convention. The front panel features the full cavern artwork by Axel Gimenez and DC Alonso as a printed label, with the “Subterrane Portal to Mystery and Power” subtitle beneath the title.
