Only kicking off 24 hours ago, the lastest project dubbed, Operation Recall, from the 3DJoes.com creator, Carson, has FUNDED! Yes you read that right and at the time of penning this article, it has blown past its original goal of $120K in backing to over $150K! This means more figures to be unlocked and produced so it’s a win/win for Carson and team and the collecting community! If you want to know the backstory on Operation Recall, check out this post entitled “What is Operation Recall” and to see what unlocks await you, check out the amazing figure line up in store for backers of this current action figure adventure!
Carson, creator of 3Djoes.com, dreamed of creating his own action waaaaayyy back in 1989 and, 33 years later, he made his dream a reality by partnering with legend of the toy industry., the creators of the GI Joe: A Real American Hero line! We love the sentiment, “Together we will create as many ALL-NEW figures as the community will support,” as this is what its all about!
While on a mission to document the the stories of the people behind the creations of the GI Joe toy line, something magical happened! According to Carson:
“We got the old band back together to create one all new action figure: from ideation sketches, to polished line art, to engineering turnarounds and accessory drawings, to presentation art, to package art, to 3D modeling and printing, to figure sculpting! The best part? This figure had been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old, when I originally submitted him to Hasbro in the hopes they would allow him to join the Joes! Ladies and gentlemen, I present Retelo, and his carrier pigeon Homer – the first 3.75” o-ring action figure by the original G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero creative team in over 30 years!
Everyone had such a good time with this project, that we were sad to see it come to an end. Retelo was a smash hit single but the band, well they wanted to create a whole new album! It was at this moment that Operation: Recall was born. Operation Recall is an all-new line of action figures by industry legends! Every dime raised by the Operation: Recall kickstarter will fund the creative development and manufacturing of all-new modern o-ring action figures from this legendary creative team!”Operation Recall Kickstarter

Wave 1 and 2 Concepts
By putting out calls for submissions, the team selected 16 concepts to flesh out In an effort to make other collectors’ dreams come true, we put out a call for submissions and selected 16 more concepts to flesh out. Here is the concept art for the Operation Recall Waves 1 and 2 figure line up!
Breacher is an urban intervention specialist, complete with K9. Mark Pennington will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Gabriel Mangum.
The concept for this figure is great! As an urban specialist, it would make complete sense that this figure would come armed with a shotgun, rifle, a light, and a knife. The pet is a fun inclusion with the figure so we can’t wait to see the color scheme and the actual design for the figure and animal!
Cadaver is a silent infiltrator. Mark Pennington will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Chad “Malcham” LaForce.
A silent infiltrator is a great concept for this line! The design features a masked, mysterious soldier that is only armed with a sword and possibly a small dagger. The face mask design is also represented on the right shoulder armor, which suggests that this could be a faction that would be built out. The chest design is also intriguing as the it looks very similar to the helmet design.
Damselfly is an enemy aerial assault trooper. Ron Rudat will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Ted Terranova.
Damselfy, according to the sketches that were submitted, looks like it drew upon the Dragonfly for inspiration. This is one of the few concepts that is rendered in color and the camo features a blue/gray green motif to the uniform. This figure also could feature a removable mask so you can see Dameselfly’s face. One of the coolest contraptions is the drone’like flight device that is strapped to her back! She also features a reloadable grenade launcher to so it will be great to see what a produced figure looks like
Sol Eagle Guerrero (Unlocked)
Sol Eagle Guerrero is a luchador soldier. Ron Rudat will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of David Emmanuelli Martinez.
One of the most unique figure concepts we have seen a long time, Sol Eagle Guerrero, is a hybrid Luchador soldier. You can see the Luchador mask on the face with the eagle sketched on the front it and championship belt around his waist. Juxtapose that with the Gatling gun/luncher in his left hand and the mini gun in his right hand and you have a recipe for an amazing figure!
Wave 2 is slated for further development once the unlock goals are reached!
El Catigador (Unlocks at $150,000)
El Castigador is an Enemy executioner. Ron Rudat will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Chris Scott.
Take one look at El Castigador and you will want to run in the other direction! In the sketch, this figure is portrayed as either an Executioner, Grim Reaper, or Death Dealer. We think he is all of the above! The helmet design is one that strikes fear into foes and it looks like he’ll be armored up for battle! The chest design is interesting as it has a shape of a skull, similar (but still different) to the design of Cadaver.
SHHHH (Unlocks at $180,000)
SHHHH is a Ninja with a prosthetic leg. Mark Pennington will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Alexander Murrell.
SHHHH is an intersting concept as this is a classic Ninja that just so happens to have a prosthetic leg. Featuring Ninja gear that consists of a bow, some swords of various types (Katana and Hooked) along with a pack to carry it all will make for a cool looking figure. In the concept sketch, it looks like the leg could be cybernetic and it will be great to see how this design turns out! Will the leg look metal? How much articulation will it have? Only time will tell!
Bear Claw (Unlocks at $210,000)
Bear Claw is a Survivalist. Ron Rudat will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of Gabriel Wilkinson.
This figure is portrayed as a survivalist and the stature is one that can rival Sol Eagle Guerrero! Equipped with a machete, as one needs to survive, this character has a very unique look and it will be interesting to see how the stature translates into figure form. Like Sol, this figure looks like it could use a different buck to make the figure have more of a presence.
Clanker and Tank (Unlocks at $240,000)
Clanker is a Wilderness Survival Specialist and his companion Tank is a genetically modified Galapagos Tortoise. Mark Pennington will be leading design for this figure, with Kirk Bozigian reviewing. This concept is courtesy of by Robert “Bobby” Earl.
The last figure in Wave 4, Clanker has the appearance of an android but it very well could be a human underneath the helmet. The most interesting aspect of the figure is the pet, Tank! A “genetically modified Galapagos Tortoise,” Tank could have multiple uses and perform underwater espionage and other types of missions to save Clanker (and his other members of his quad) from harm.
Waves 3 and 4
As stated on the Kickstarter page:
Retelo is our campaign kickoff figure. He was unlocked right out of the gate. We unlocked all four Wave 1 figures by hitting our initial goal of $120,000! Going forward, each additional figure will unlock in $30,000 increments. With your help, we will plow through Waves 2–4 and reveal a VERY special surprise 18th figure. We will reveal the submitted concepts for Waves 3–4 as soon as the previous wave is unlocked.Operation Recall Kickstarter
