He-Man MOTU Chronicles In-Hand Review

By the power of Grayskull! I have been waiting for this one, and now that he’s finally here in hand, I can tell you the excitement is absolutely real. The Masters of the Universe Chronicles He-Man action figure from Mattel is here to celebrate the upcoming 2026 live action Masters of the Universe film, and he is gorgeous. For those of us who grew up with He-Man, whether it was the original Filmation cartoon, the 200x series, or even the beloved 1987 Dolph Lundgren movie, every new iteration of the Most Powerful Man in the Universe feels like a homecoming. This time around, the figure captures the likeness of actor Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, and seeing a fresh face carry the mantle of Prince Adam into a new era is genuinely thrilling. So let’s take a look at the Masters of the Universe Chronicles He-Man in-hand review! At 6.5 inches, he fits right in with that sweet spot scale that collectors love to display. The sculpt features movie-accurate armor and weapons, and that 30 points of articulation gives you plenty of room to pose him in all kinds of dramatic stances. He comes with the iconic Power Sword (or Sword of Power, depending on which corner of the fandom you call home) and an alternate set of hands so you can switch up his grip and get creative with your posing. The packaging on this one is also worth mentioning. Mattel went with a deluxe window box design that honestly looks fantastic whether you’re an opener or a keep-it-sealed collector. It’s the kind of presentation that makes you pause before you tear into it. Packaging

The packaging features a dark, cosmic-themed box design with a painted portrait of actor Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man on the right side, showing him in his silver chest armor with a serious, determined expression. The Power Sword is secured in the tray beside the figure, its silver blade and crossguard catching the light nicely against the deep red and black backdrop artwork.

The back of the packaging features a dark, starfield-tinged design with artwork of He-Man holding the Power Sword aloft, standing on a volcanic rock surface bathed in orange and red lava light. Two inset photos on the right show the figure in different action poses, giving a good sense of the 30 points of articulation and the range of display options.

Figure Details

The head sculpt captures Nicholas Galitzine’s likeness with swept, golden-blonde hair and a focused expression, and I like how the proportions feel true to the classic He-Man silhouette while still reading as a movie design.

From the back, He-Man’s chest armor has a silver V-shaped plate between the shoulder straps, with small rivet details sculpted into the brown leather harness that holds it in place. The loincloth wraps fully around with gold-toned diamond-shaped clasps along the bottom edge of each panel, and the segmented boot sculpt continues cleanly around the back of the calves.

From the side, He-Man’s dark brown wrist guard shows sculpted strapping detail, and his tall boots have a layered, segmented look with subtle buckle accents near the top. His golden-blonde hair has a nice wavy texture to the sculpt, swept back with individual strands defined along the side.

From this side profile, the sculpted strapping on He-Man’s harness wraps tightly around his torso, with the dark brown leather-look material sitting flush against the skin tone plastic. The gold-toned diamond clasps on the loincloth panels catch the eye from this angle, and the segmented boot tops show their buckle detailing running along the outer edge of each calf.

Armed with the Power Sword held out in a two-handed grip, He-Man looks great in an action pose that shows off the figure’s 30 points of articulation. The silver blade has a smooth, clean finish with a slightly curved crossguard that gives the weapon a distinct Eternian feel.

The red iron cross emblem on his chest armor catches the light nicely from this angle, and the dark brown loincloth panels with their gold-toned clasps hang naturally with the figure’s stance.

He-Man stands with the Power Sword raised at his side, and the silver chest armor’s riveted shoulder straps sit snugly over each shoulder with a weathered metallic finish. I’m really digging the brown-wrapped hilt on the Power Sword, which has a nice contrast against the silver blade and crossguard.

From the back, He-Man holds the Power Sword up behind his shoulder as if sheathing it, and the blade lines up nicely against the harness strap running between his shoulder blades. The wavy texture of his golden-blonde hair sculpt shows good definition from this rear view, with individual locks layered over one another across the back of his head. Being this new 6.5″ scale, you will notice these figures have all new articulation, never before seen in a Masters of the Universe figure! There are butterfly joints in the chest and double jointed elbows and knees that all allow you to get He-Man into great poses! He can easily reach his sheath on his back!

The weathered dark brown chest armor with its red cross emblem sits firmly against his torso, and the loincloth panels shift naturally with the pose. You can see how this new articulation allows you to get He-Man in some cool poses!

He-Man grips the Power Sword in a two-handed hold with his weight shifted low, and the alternate fisted hands swap works well here to lock the hilt firmly in both grips. It’s nice to see the dark brown wrist guard on the forearm contrasting against the silver crossguard of the sword at this close range.
