When Man-At-Arms was first announced for the Chronicles line, I knew this was going to be one I wanted in hand as soon as possible because I love Idris Elba as an actor. Duncan has always been one of the most important characters in the Masters of the Universe mythos, and seeing Idris Elba step into the role for the 2026 live action film just gives this release some real weight. The Chronicles line has been doing a great job of translating movie designs into collector-grade figures, and Man-At-Arms is no exception. The sculpt carries a strong likeness to Elba, and the armor detailing walks that line between grounded movie realism and the classic MOTU aesthetic we all grew up with. At 6.5 inches with 30 points of articulation, he moves well and holds poses without much fuss. The accessory loadout is solid for the character. You get his signature mace, a blaster, and an extra set of hands, which is exactly what the Master of Weapons should come packed with. Compared to how Duncan has been handled across Classics, Origins, and Masterverse, this feels like a fresh and earned take on the character, and I am really happy with this one. Huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending this Man-At-Arms MOTU Chronicles over for review, and if he has been on your must have list, you can still grab him now at Big Bad Toy Store.

Packaging

The front of the Man-At-Arms packaging carries a warm gold tone across the card art and window framing, setting the heroic warriors apart with a richer, more regal color palette than typical MOTU releases. The back of the box continues that gold treatment with a large promotional image of Man-At-Arms raising his mace overhead, along with smaller shots of He-Man and Tri-Klops sharing that same golden warmth across the wave’s presentation.

The side panel of the Man-At-Arms box features artwork of the character holding his sword upright, mirroring the Skeletor artwork on the opposite side so the two face off against each other. It’s a great touch, having the heroic and evil warriors squared up like that across the packaging.

Figure Details

The front and back views give a full picture of Man-At-Arms’s armor layout, with the green bodysuit serving as the base layer under copper-gold chest plating, segmented thigh guards, and brown boots with layered shin armor. The back of the figure carries just as much sculpted detail as the front, with vented armor panels, molded rivets on the shoulder guards, and a continuation of the silver belt wrapping all the way around.

The side views highlight details that the front and back angles don’t fully reveal, including the sculpted baton secured to his thigh with its copper and gold finish, and the way the layered shin armor wraps around the boot with segmented brown plating. The circular silver metal details on the back of the shoulder guard is more prominent from this angle, sitting flush within the copper-gold armor panel.

The Idris Elba likeness on this head sculpt is really solid, capturing his brow line, nose, and the subtle mustache with impressive accuracy for this scale. The serious, focused expression reads as distinctly Elba, and the sculpted skin texture across the face adds a level of realism that collectors going back and forth on this figure should appreciate.

Man-At-Arms shows off some solid posing range here, letting him hold a wide, grounded stance with both fists raised and knees bent convincingly in both the front and rear views. The armor plating doesn’t appear to restrict the shoulder or hip movement much at all, which is always a concern with figures this heavily armored.

The helmet sculpt on Man-At-Arms is a real highlight, with sharp angular lines carved into the blue plastic that give it a layered, tech-forward design, and those small gold accent ports recessed into the sides add just the right amount of detail without cluttering the silhouette. Love the way the helmet wraps around the head with those angled panels and etched grooves, leaving just enough of the Idris Elba face sculpt exposed to sell the likeness while still feeling like a proper piece of Eternian military gear.

The accessory spread includes Man-At-Arms’s gold mace, a compact dark gray blaster with a red grip accent, and a pair of swappable fisted hands. Nice to see the blaster included alongside the mace, giving collectors a couple of different display options for the Master of Weapons.

Man At Arms MOTU Chronicles In Hand Review 1

Man-At-Arms looks great armed up, with the gold mace and the blaster attached to the leg, giving collectors the two display options that make the most of his Master of Weapons title. The weathered green and copper armor holds up well in both poses, and swapping between the mace and blaster really does change the whole vibe of the figure on a shelf.

Man-At-Arms’s signature mace is cast in a warm gold plastic with sculpted panel line detailing across the bulbous head, but the paint crackling at the head is a noticeable issue, and I’ve seen this same problem crop up on other Man-At-Arms figures in this line. His green and copper armor has a weathered, utilitarian feel to it, and the blue helmet with orange accent lines sits well against the Idris Elba head sculpt.

The blaster has a chunky, angular sculpt with deep grooved detailing running along the body, giving it a satisfyingly alien, Eternian tech feel.

The silver utility belt has some great sculpted detail, with individually modeled pouches and a textured buckle that gives the whole midsection a functional, military feel. The blaster pegs neatly into the holster on his thigh, which is a welcome design choice since nobody wants an orphan accessory with nowhere to go when it’s not in hand.

The thigh armor plates get a good close-up here, and that small peg where the blaster holsters is cleanly integrated into the sculpt rather than sticking out awkwardly. The copper-gold plating on the thigh guard has etched vents and a subtle weathered finish, and the peg itself is color-matched in a teal-green tone that blends right into the suit material.

The sculpted armor plating on the arm has a copper-gold finish with etched vents and panel lines that give it a layered, mechanical look, and the circular shoulder rivets add a nice industrial touch to the overall design. The baton sculpted onto his thigh is a cool detail, with copper and gold tones that tie it into the rest of the armor, and it sits naturally against the green suit rather than looking tacked on.

The green bodysuit underneath the armor features a distinct quilted ribbing pattern, with raised grid-like sections running down the arms and torso that give the fabric a padded, tactical texture. With the shoulder armor shifted down on this side, the brown shoulder joint and those gold concentric-ring disks are exposed again, and the way the ribbed green material feeds directly into the armored plating shows how well the suit’s layered construction holds together as a cohesive design.

Man At Arms MOTU Chronicles In Hand Review 10

With the shoulder armor pushed down, the brown undersurface of the shoulder joint is exposed, featuring a pair of gold metallic disks with concentric ring detailing that give off a convincing machined-metal look. It’s a cool hidden detail that most figures wouldn’t bother with, and it adds real depth to the armor layering on Man-At-Arms.

The rear view of the silver utility belt shows the buckle detailing continuing around the back, with sculpted seams and rivet marks holding the belt flush against the wrapped green fabric of the bodysuit.
