Red Five standing by! Boy are we thrilled to bring you this one, because Hasbro is taking us all the way back to 1978 with the Star Wars The Vintage Collection X-Wing Fighter and Luke Skywalker (X-Wing) in Kenner Colors, and it is now available for preorder over at Hasbro Pulse exclusively! This incredible set gives us a premium 3.75-inch scale X-Wing Fighter alongside an articulated Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 figures, all decked out in that gorgeous Kenner-inspired deco that so many of us remember from the original release. The packaging itself is modeled after that classic 1978 design, and I just love that Hasbro keeps honoring the roots of where so many of our collections began. You get Luke’s helmet, a blaster, removable ship components, and all the vintage-inspired detailing on that starfighter cockpit that made the original such an icon on toy shelves. This one is priced at $139.99, which feels really high but the last X-Wing was $99.99 without any figures, and this one comes with 2 figures, so take that how you like. This set has a ship date of December 1, 2026, so you’ve got time to plan but I wouldn’t wait too long on a set like this. There’s something really special about holding a piece that connects directly back to the Kenner era, and seeing it reimagined with modern articulation and detail while keeping that retro soul is super exciting. So let’s take a look at the Star Wars The Vintage Collection X-Wing Fighter and Luke Skywalker & R2 D2 in Kenner Colors!

The box design is a love letter to the original 1978 Kenner packaging, with that iconic red background and white border framing the X-Wing Fighter against a warm, nostalgic glow. A miniature card back for the included Luke Skywalker figure is mounted in the upper right corner, completing the retro presentation alongside the classic Kenner logo and the familiar Star Wars title treatment.

The side panel continues the retro Kenner aesthetic with two inset photos showcasing the X-Wing Fighter from different angles, its wings split into the classic attack position with those yellow and red accent markings popping against the off-white hull. I like how they carried that same red backdrop and vintage border treatment around the entire box, so every side feels like a display piece on its own.

The card back uses a photo of Luke in his orange X-Wing pilot suit, seated near the cockpit ladder, which is a great pull from the original Kenner reference material. His helmet and blaster are packed alongside the figure in the bubble, and I like how the bright yellow of his sculpted hair contrasts against the muted blue tray.

The X-Wing Fighter’s hull is covered in finely sculpted panel lines, vents, and raised surface details that give it real texture at this scale, with those red and yellow stripe markings on the wings adding just enough color to break up the off-white body. Luke and R2-D2 are both shown here at 3.75-inch scale, and it’s cool to see how the four black laser cannons at the wingtips anchor the silhouette with their elongated barrels and pronged tips.

The S-foils are locked open here, and I’m really digging how the dark red accent panels on the upper wing surfaces contrast against the off-white hull, with that weathered grey tone on the fuselage giving the whole ship a slightly worn, lived-in feel. R2-D2’s blue dome peeks out from his socket behind the cockpit, and the sculpted greeblies running along the engine nacelles have a surprising amount of depth for a vehicle at this scale.

Here’s a closer look at the underside of the X-Wing Fighter, where a trio of landing gear struts with small black wheels tuck neatly beneath the fuselage, and the sculpted panel work on the belly is just as detailed as the topside. The four engine nacelles have a layered, cylindrical construction with recessed nozzle ends, and you can really appreciate how the overall proportions hold up from this angle, with the nose tapering cleanly into that broad wing assembly.

You can see how the cockpit canopy has a nice clear transparency to it, letting you peek in at Luke’s orange flight suit and helmet detail even when he’s fully seated. The engine intakes on the rear fuselage have a great recessed turbine sculpt with concentric rings, and those small red rectangular markings scattered across the wings and nose add subtle visual interest without cluttering the clean Kenner-inspired deco.

Here’s a closer look at Luke from the back, where the sculpted detail on his chest box and harness straps really shines, with the silver and black elements layered over that classic orange flight suit. R2-D2 is right alongside him, his silver dome and blue panel markings looking sharp next to the white and red striping of the X-Wing Fighter in the hangar scene.
