In the meantime, in the Hall of Justice… the Super Powers collection from McFarlane Toys is gearing up for one final wave, and boy are we thrilled to share this preview with you! Huge thanks to @just_bsing for posting these silhouette images on Instagram, giving us our first look at what’s coming. According to the post, this is officially the last wave of the Super Powers line, with preorders going live Thursday, September 3 at 12 p.m. ET exclusively on Entertainment Earth! Now the guessing game is on and the community is buzzing! The silhouettes have fans speculating about some really cool possibilities, and while nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the shapes are giving us a lot to work with. Many collectors are seeing what looks like Cyborg, possibly a vac metal version this time around, along with what could be Martian Manhunter, some version of Superman, an unmasked Deathstroke or Slade Wilson, and maybe even Wonder Girl. Some fans are holding out hope for Shazam, Kid Flash, or even a Green Arrow, and honestly I love how passionate this community gets when silhouettes drop. It’s bittersweet knowing this is the final wave. The Super Powers line has been such a fun ride, bringing back that classic Kenner energy and giving us so many amazing DC characters in that iconic vintage style. I always loved Super Powers as a kid, and McFarlane really gave collectors something special with this revival. Whatever these final reveals turn out to be, I can’t be more excited to see them and I’m hoping for a few deep cut characters to round things out. Will we get that chromed out Cyborg? Could Donna Troy finally join the lineup? Only time will tell, but Thursday can’t come soon enough! So let’s take a look at the McFarlane Super Powers last wave preview!
Here’s a closer look at the teaser for what’s being called the final wave of the Super Powers line. Six character silhouettes are spread across a bold blue and yellow layout with a red star-studded banner cutting diagonally through the middle, keeping things firmly rooted in that classic Kenner-era aesthetic.
The first silhouette on the top left looks like some version of Flash. The Flash is depicted here in his classic comic book look, with that iconic white-circled lightning bolt emblem on his chest and the small gold wings on his cowl. His yellow belt and matching boots create a clean contrast against the all-red suit, and it’s cool to see this particular art style being referenced as inspiration for what could be one of the figures in that final wave.
Can the next silhouette be Martian Manhunter? Perhaps he is one of the mystery figures? We can see the vintage Kenner Super Powers version below. He looks great here alongside his included mini comic card. The red crossed harness straps and silver medallion at the waist pop nicely against that vivid green skin, and the soft fabric cape drapes naturally over his shoulders in a way that adds real texture to the figure.
The female silhouette looks like Wonder Girl! Donna Troy’s design here references her classic red jumpsuit look, with white stars scattered across the bodice and along the outer thighs, and a gold “W” belt cinching the waist. She’s wearing blue bracelets and matching knee-high boots, and the gold pendant necklace is a nice touch that ties the whole outfit together with that Amazonian jewelry aesthetic.
The silhouette on the bottom left corner has us a little stumped so we will leave that one for a surprise. Could it be an unmasked Deathstroke or Slade Wilson, and maybe even Wonder Girl. Some fans are holding out hope for Shazam, Kid Flash, or even a Green Arrow, and honestly I love how passionate this community gets when silhouettes drop!
Let’s move onto the center bottom silhouette which clearly looks like another version of the man of steel! Superman’s design here pulls directly from the Fleischer Studios animated shorts of the 1940s, with that broad-shouldered silhouette and the golden “S” shield framed in deep red. I like how this particular art reference suggests the figure in the final wave may lean into that classic Golden Age look, right down to the rounded belt buckle and the shorter, more triangular cape.
Finally we have the last silhouette on the right bottom, which looks like Cyborg! Cyborg was released as part of what was previously thought to be the last wave in Wave 12, but he was in a silvery paint finish. Will we see Cyborg in vac metal? The Kenner vintage version is shown below. Cyborg’s vac-metal chrome finish catches your attention immediately, with that reflective silver plating covering nearly every inch of his cybernetic armor and contrasting sharply against the warm brown skin tones on his exposed areas. The included arm cannon accessory carries the same chrome treatment, and I like how the sculpted panel lines across his torso and legs give the armor a layered, mechanical feel even under all that shine.
The card art for Cyborg leans heavily into his classic 1980s Teen Titans look, with orange and silver plating segmented across his limbs and torso in that familiar comic-accurate pattern. I like how the small yellow energy bursts at his joints and boots add a sense of power to the illustration, and the mix of warm skin tones with cool metallic blues throughout the armor keeps the artwork feeling layered and detailed.
