Man-At-Arms from the MOTU Origins Sketch Book Series is finally going up for preorder during Target’s Fall Geek-Out 2026. We first uncovered the figure through a Target listing, but the rollout has taken an unusual path. Mattel’s official images of the Man-At-Arms Paladin figure followed, and we have even had the chance to publish a complete in-hand review before the official preorder opened. That gave us an early look at how the sketch-inspired armor, alternate parts, weapons and unusual Man-At-Arms head sculpt came together on the actual figure rather than just in promotional photos. Now collectors who have been waiting through each stage of this strange release finally have a confirmed opportunity to order him through Target’s Fall Geek-Out event.

Clad in heavy olive-green armor layered over a dark, shaggy fur cape, Man-At-Arms has a look that feels completely different from any version we’ve gotten before, pulling from that unreleased ’80s concept art in a way that’s immediately striking. His spiked copper shoulder pads, segmented bracers, and riveted skirt all have a rougher, more barbaric flavor, topped off by a pointed blue helmet that barely peeks out above all that bulk, plus a small red crest pinned to the chest plate, a golden spiked mace, and a gray combination weapon that fuses a blaster with an axe-head polearm.

Armed with a full arsenal, Man-At-Arms is seriously loaded here, carrying that gray blaster-polearm hybrid alongside the spiked mace while a separate gray crossbow-style weapon sits at his feet. I like how the copper armor segmenting continues down his legs with layered knee guards over dark brown strapped boots, keeping that rugged, pre-Eternian knight aesthetic consistent from head to toe.

You can see how the fur cape really dominates the silhouette from this angle, with that dense, textured sculpting wrapping around his back and spilling over the shoulders in heavy, uneven clumps that give the figure serious visual weight. The combination of the pointed blue helmet sitting so low against those oversized spiked shoulder pads makes his head almost disappear into the armor, which is a fun design choice that leans hard into that unused concept art origin.

Here’s a closer look at the back of that fur cape, and the sculpt work is genuinely impressive, with each strand individually carved in flowing, overlapping layers that give the whole piece a wild, matted texture you don’t typically see at this scale. The orange spiked shoulder armor just barely pokes through on either side, framing the cape like it’s barely contained underneath all that bulk.

One detail I really like is how the green armor plating on his forearms has that segmented, almost reptilian quality to it, with each overlapping section clearly separated and individually sculpted. The brown strapping on his boots wraps tightly in a way that contrasts nicely against the looser, more chaotic fur cape billowing behind him, and at $21.99 for this level of sculpt density, it’s no surprise he sold out the moment he hit Target’s site.
