ThunderCats are on the move, ThunderCats are loose! Super7 has opened up preorders for the amazing Astral Moat Monster, and boy are we thrilled! This is one we’ve been eyeing since it was first revealed back in July, and the wait is finally over. Coming in at 14 inches and priced at $195 with a December shipping window, this is a super exciting addition to the ThunderCats Ultimates lineup. Huge thanks to @thundercatsorg for posting the heads up about this one. Now, a quick heads up for everyone rushing to grab one. It looks like the preorder page may not be fully live just yet! Several collectors have reported trouble getting the order to go through, so if you’re hitting a wall, you’re not alone. We do have the preorder link ready for you below, so keep checking back because these things tend to go live without much warning. I always loved the Astral Moat Monster from the classic episode “Astral Prison,” and seeing Super7 tackle a creature this deep cut from the ThunderCats lore is just so much fun. That scale shot making the rounds really shows off how massive this thing is going to look displayed next to your Ultimates figures. Where are you going to put yours? Only time will tell if shelf space can handle it! So let’s take a look at the Super7 Astral Moat Monster preorder!

Where to Buy Wave 1

The preorder page is not quite live yet, but here is the DIRECT LINK for when it does go LIVE!

The Astral Moat Monster is an absolute beast of a figure, with that massive gaping maw full of white fangs and a pink tongue sculpted deep inside a dark, striated mouth interior. The sheer scale is immediately apparent next to Lion-O, who looks tiny by comparison, really driving home just how imposing this thing is at 14 inches tall.

The sheer scale of the Moat Monster really hits home here with Lion-O standing alongside it, dwarfed by that massive gaping maw lined with irregular white fangs and a fleshy pink interior. Those dark brown bat-like wings with their orange webbing add a whole other layer to the creature’s silhouette, and I’m really digging how the gray shaggy fur sculpted across the body transitions into those smooth purple limbs tipped with thick white claws.

I’m really digging the mouth interior on this shot, where you can see the sculpted tongue sitting behind those irregularly spaced fangs, some thick and blunt, others pointed and narrow. The cluster of glossy black secondary eyes trailing between those two large pink cat-slit eyes is such a weird, creepy detail that feels perfectly pulled from the cartoon.

The Moat Monster is an absolute beast of a figure, with that deep purple skin covered in glossy brown nodules and three massive pink eyes with slit pupils that just dominate its face. You can see how the rows of white fangs lining its gaping maw contrast against the fleshy interior of the mouth, and those dark bat-like wings with reddish-orange membranes add so much to the creature’s overall menace, especially with Lion-O down below for scale.

Here are some fun shots showing just how much the Moat Monster dwarfs Lion-O, and the sheer size difference between the two really hammers home what a nightmare this thing would be to encounter. I like the way the creature’s underbelly has that dense, dark fur texture along the torso, breaking up the smooth purple skin with something more organic and tactile.

I like how the Moat Monster’s hands are sculpted with such character, each finger spread wide with individually sculpted knuckles and deep wrinkles in the palms, all capped with those sharp white nails. Lion-O next to him gives you a great sense of just how chunky and wide this figure is, with that massive torso taking up nearly three times the width of a standard figure.

Covered in that shaggy, sculpted fur texture from the waist down, the lower half has a cool mix of dark purple and grey tones that give the fur real depth and dimension. The four-fingered hands are spread wide with each white claw tip catching your attention against that deep purple vinyl. You can see how the sculpt on the lower half transitions from smooth, wrinkled purple skin into thick, shaggy fur around the midsection, and that texture contrast really sells the creature design. The small bat-like wings have a great orange membrane stretched between dark, gnarled frames, with pink inner ears adding an unexpected pop of color up top.

Here’s a closer look at the sheer heft of the Astral Moat Monster, and you can really appreciate the size when it’s sitting on someone’s palm like this. Each foot sports thick, splayed toes tipped with white claws, and the hands mirror that same chunky claw treatment, giving the whole sculpt a satisfying consistency from top to bottom.

A close-up reveals the dense cluster of dark, recessed pits scattered across the forehead and brow ridge, each one sculpted as a smooth concave socket that adds an unsettling, almost organic rhythm to the face. The dark horn curving back from the top of the head has a gnarled, organic taper to it, and you can just catch that translucent orange wing membrane framing the creature from behind.

A close-up reveals the orange wing membranes up close, and the sculpted vein-like lines running through them add a leathery, biological quality that’s easy to miss from a distance. The purple carapace below is dotted with those smooth, glossy dark pits in varying sizes, and they sit against a matte purple surface that makes them look almost like suckers or breathing pores.

A detail that stands out to me is how a few of those glossy pits break from the dominant dark brown and appear in white, creating an unexpected visual disruption across the otherwise uniform pattern on the back. Those large pink cat-slit eyes wrap around the sides of the head, and from this rear angle you get a sense of just how wide and bulbous the skull really is.

A close-up reveals the sculpted ridges running down the forearm, with each segment tapering into a splayed claw tipped in stark white talons. The contrast between the deep purple skin and those pale, pointed nails is fantastic, and the fingers have a great spread that really sells the monstrous proportions.
