ThunderCats are on the move, ThunderCats are loose! We want to give another huge thanks to @actionguy82 for posting these amazing in hand images of the Super7 Deluxe Panthro from Wave 5, which now IN STOCK on Walmart.com and up for preorder on Entertainment Earth!! After we got that LJN-styled pinless Panthro packed in with the Thundertank, we all knew it was only a matter of time before the big guy showed up in the Deluxe line, and he does not disappoint. That headsculpt is spot on, straight out of the cartoon, and I love how the pinless, newly sculpted body matches the aesthetic of the current Ultimates and Deluxe ThunderCats figures so well. The nunchucks look super cool too, and Panthro looks incredible standing alongside the rest of the crew. I always loved Panthro growing up, the team’s resident tough guy and master mechanic, so seeing him get this treatment is so much fun. How amazing is he going to look displayed with the rest of your ThunderCats shelf?! So let’s take a look at the Super7 Deluxe Panthro!
Where to Buy
You can preorder the figures at the following retailers below
Packaging & Figure
The card art features the classic ThunderCats logo in its signature metallic gradient lettering across the top, with a black card backing that uses a splattered ink design framing the blister window. Panthro’s included nunchucks sit below him in the tray, one in red and one in blue, a nice nod to the character’s signature weapons.
Outfitted with his blue spiked harness and matching boots, Panthro’s gray skin tone works beautifully against the cooler blue tones of his gear, creating a really cohesive cartoon-accurate color palette. I like how the boots have sculpted buckle details and a slightly lighter blue at the toes, adding just enough variation to keep them from looking flat. What I love most is that this version of Panthro uses the new pinless body!
Armed with both nunchucks, you can see how the real metal chain connects the two handles, and I noticed that the chain length runs a little short, which limits how far apart you can spread them. The red nunchuck has a sculpted fist at its tip while the blue one mirrors it, and those little claw-like fist ends are a fun, faithful detail from the original design.
Panthro’s face sculpt is absolutely nailed here, with those heavy brow ridges, piercing amber eyes, and a scowl that feels pulled straight from the animation cels. The blue spiked harness crosses his torso cleanly, with each spike sculpted as a separate raised element, and the red ThunderCats emblem on the belt buckle provides a sharp pop of color against all that blue-gray.
Figure Comparisons
Comparing the two versions of the new pinless Panthro’s side by side, and you can really see how the slight paint variations and the different head sculpts. If you bought the Toy Color version of the Thundertank, then you got a version of this Panthro, but that Panthro’s headsculpt was much more expressive and inspired by the vintage LJN figure. The Deluxe version has a more neutral look on his face. The nunchucks swap colors between the two figures, with the red fist-end and blue handle trading places, which is a cool detail to spot when they’re standing together like this.
Here’s a closer look at how the new Panthro on the left compared to the original release on the right, and the difference in the pinless body sculpt is immediately apparent on the newer version to the left. The newer pinless body on the left has smoother, cleaner joints throughout the arms and legs. Both figures carry their nunchucks with real metal chains, though the skin tones diverge noticeably, with the newer sculpt leaning into a deeper, more saturated blue-gray.
Finally we get to see all three Panthro figures together, and the variation in gray skin tones across the trio really jumps out, from the darker blue-gray on the left to the lighter, warmer gray up front. Each figure wears the same crossed spiked harness with the red ThunderCats emblem on the belt, but the subtle differences in how the blue straps contrast against each body’s skin tone show just how much a color shift changes the overall feel.
I really love this group shot showing the full ThunderCats crew assembled together, and Mumm-Ra towers over everyone just like he should. Cheetara, Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Jaga, and Vultureman all fill out the roster nicely, but it’s that bright teal skin and red cape combination on Mumm-Ra that immediately pulls your eye to the back of the group.
