Arcee Transformers Missing Link C-07 In-Hand Review

Huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending us this Transformers Missing Link Arcee for review and for your viewing pleasure, because I’ve been eagerly waiting to see how this figure would finally bring the legendary “phantom” 1986 Arcee to life. Back in the day, development had progressed all the way to a non-transforming styrofoam prototype before the project was shelved, and this modern release builds directly on the size, structure, and original intent of that era while giving her the full transformation treatment she never received. The colors are based on the early pink and orange setting used during the prototype stage, and even the head sculpt pulls from those initial design materials, making this the most authentic realization of 1986 Arcee to date. Modern articulation lets her pose freely, and she comes with her small laser pistol seen in The Movie, which can be stored underneath or at the rear when she’s in vehicle mode. True to the vintage spirit, she features a heat-activated secret emblem and retro-styled foil stickers. The packaging leans all the way into 80s nostalgia with newly illustrated artwork, a matching collector card, and a full styrofoam tray that instantly brings back the feel of opening Transformers toys during the original era, making this a long-awaited piece of history finally made real. You can purchase this Arcee Transformers Missing Link C-07 figure from Big Bad Toy Store and bring home a piece of history!

The outer box keeps things clean with a matte black finish, a bold C-07 callout on the front panel, and sharp white framing that gives it that premium Missing Link presentation, and I like how it feels more like a collector item than a retail toy box as I turn it in hand. Spinning it around, the back panel stays minimal with dense product text, barcode placement low and centered, and consistent framing that mirrors the front, giving the whole package a very controlled, no nonsense feel as it sits upright on the shelf.

The box immediately gives me strong G1 Transformers vibes, with bright grid graphics, character art, and that classic layout that feels straight out of the early G1 era. Looking closer, the front window lets you see her in alternate mode tucked inside the tray, which really sells that old school Transformers experience where the toy itself is part of the display and you can already imagine flipping her into robot mode right out of the box.

The side panels really locks in that G1 Transformers feeling for me, with the red grid background showing her in alternate mode into robot, and I like how it breaks the steps down visually as your eye moves up to the top of the box. Both sides mirror each other with slightly different poses, letting you see the vehicle mode parked at the bottom while the robot form snaps upward into action, and it feels very intentional, as the packaging itself is teaching you how she changes shape before you even open it.

The white styrofoam tray locks everything in place with the alternate mode sitting snug and centered, and seeing that foam instantly takes me back to how some of the larger Transformers were packed years ago when presentation mattered just as much as protection. She also comes with paperwork and collector card tucked neatly in a plastic bag.

She also comes with a separate sticker sheet laid out on a silver backing, with numbered decals that include chest details, panel lines, small symbols, and accent markings meant to finish off both modes. I’ll be honest, these are staying right on the sheet for me, because I am absolutely terrible at applying stickers straight, so I like knowing the option is there for collectors who want to go all in, while I am perfectly happy keeping her clean and factory fresh.

The collector card is a nice piece, with bold character art of her aiming the blaster on the front and a clean pink background that immediately feels era appropriate in hand. Flipping it over, the reverse features a red grid layout with black and white line art showing the robot and alternate mode, plus Japanese text blocks that make it feel like something pulled straight from an early Transformers release. The back of the card identifies her as C-07 Arcee (prototype) and describes her as a female Cybertronian warrior who transforms into a sleek vehicle mode. The text explains that she is fast and agile, excels in mobility based combat, and uses a small laser blaster as her primary weapon. It also notes her role as a support fighter who relies on speed and precision rather than brute force, with the grid diagrams showing her robot mode and alternate mode for reference.

In alternate mode, I really notice how the pink and orange panels interlock cleanly across the hood and sides, with the color breaks lining up in a way that feels very intentional as I turn it slightly in my hand. The clear canopy sits low and tight over the interior, the white front intake adds contrast up front, and that rub sign is a nice addition on the top as it stands out while the rear fins and tucked wheels keep the silhouette compact and smooth.

From this angle, the alternate mode shows off how the clear canopy hinges forward and frames the blue interior, with the cockpit opening feeling very intentional rather than decorative. I also like catching the rear section here, where the red fins and rounded tail panels sit slightly raised, the side seams run clean along the orange door sections, and the wheels stay mostly hidden underneath, keeping the profile low and uninterrupted as it glides across the surface.

What really jumps out to me here is how much articulation she has compared to Transformers from the 80s, with hinged knees, articulated ankles, rotating shoulders, and elbows that let her actually aim the blaster instead of locking into a single pose. I like how the hips and torso movement let her shift her stance naturally, so she can lean forward, twist at the waist, and plant her feet in a way vintage figures simply could not, which makes handling and posing her feel far more expressive while still staying true to that classic transformation style.

With her arm raised, you can really see how the articulation opens things up compared to 80s Transformers, as the shoulder rotation, elbow bend, and wrist angle let her hold the blaster straight up without forcing the pose, while the hips and knees keep her balanced instead of locked stiff. From the back, the smallspur extending behind the legs does real work for stability, acting almost like a built in stand that helps her hold upright poses without tipping, and I like how it feels like a smart, functional solution rather than something added just for display.

From the side, the pose really shows how far the articulation goes, with the shoulder lifting straight up, the elbow bending cleanly, and the wrist aligning the blaster vertically without fighting the joints. I like seeing how the arm panels taper as they swing upward, the wheel hubs sit flush along the upper arms and thighs, and the layered pink and orange panels stack tightly along the torso, while the legs stay planted and balanced even with the arm fully raised.
