In Package Images
Here we can finally see the Classic Remastered 1988 TMNT Playmates Figures in their respective packages. Similar to what they did for the sketch Turtles, rather than coming packed on a card back and blister bubble, these new Classic Remastered 1988 TMNT Playmates Figures come packaged in a box with a window display. Thanks again to M Smith TMNT on Instagram for posting these images, and we don’t know where they got these.
Looking at the packaging, you can see a new 40 years of TMNT logo that is currently being used on some of their Classics reissues currently hitting store shelves. Also, they included the classic colored brick motif and illustrations of the 4 Turtles along the corners of the box. We don’t know what the rest of sides of the packages look like, but so far the front looks great! Each Turtle brother has his respective name on the box and it reads “1988 Remastered” with their name. There is also a burst that says ” All new articulation and deco”. Speaking of deco, you can see how their classic interpretation of their unique accessories are now silver and with the hand grips colored for each turtle’s bandana color. Also in terms of deco, there was some previous consternation about the texture on the turtles skin. In these photos, the deco doesn’t look as bad, but it’s still heavy and noticeable. All in all, though, I think they look amazing and we can’t wait to get these in hand! Each turtles also comes with a stand and a dio piece for the for the rooftop diorama that is made out of their 4 respective stands.
Leonardo comes with his katana blades in silver with blue hand grips, classic hand daggers and throwing stars. Leo also comes with a large silver bladed device and a piece of skylight. Then you can see their stands packaged behind them in the box. Raph comes with his Sais in silver with red hand grips, a crazy two sides axe mace thing in silver with a large red hand grip and classic hand daggers and throwing stars. Raph also includes a chimney piece for the rooftop diorama.

Donatello and Michaelangelo are pictured below. As you can see, Mikey comes with his classic Nunchucks in silver with orange handles and real chains!! He also includes a roped two sided sickle as well. Plus he has his classic hand daggers and throwing stars. There is also a roof vent for the rooftop diorama. Donatello comes with his classic bo staff with a purple hand grip, and also comes with a silver bo and chained mace ball with a purple hand grip, and the same classic hand daggers and throwing stars. He also includes a roof vent. Then you can see their stands packaged behind them in the box.

Hi-Res Image
Thanks to Pixel Dan for reaching out to Playmates to get additional information on these new Classic Remastered 1988 TMNT figures. Playmates responded to confirm the retail price at $12.99, and that these will indeed be Walmart Exclusives released this summer. Playmates did not provide any other specific information, but they did provide Pixel Dan with a Hi-Res image of the new Classic Remastered 1988 TMNT figures. So Let’s take a closer look and see what this new image reveals!
Here we can see more detail on the articulation or lack thereof on the figures. First we can see there is shoulder articulation, and a single elbow joint, along with only wrist swivel, and no wrist tilt. Moving down to the legs, you can see hit articulation, and what looks like a single knee joint at the knee pads. Then when we get down to the feet, you can clearly see only a foot swivel and no ankle rockers. This might make posing the figures in an action stance a bit more difficult. But the one thing that totally stands out to us in this image is the very heavy texture on the turtles skin. They are like inverted bumps, so divets in their skin. This is a bit over done and heavy and gives our turtle friends more of a frog like appearance. Let’s hope when we get these figures in hand, that they will look better.

The Toy Insider Spring Fling event image
Below is the original image the Adventures in Collecting (@aic_podcast) posted of the flyer seen at the The Toy Insider Spring Fling event.
Taking a look at the image above you can see that these new figures look like the Classic 1988 TMNT Playmates Figures we love, but have new articulation ala Originsish style with nicer deco paint applications! They seem to come on individual stands that look like roof tops with little brick wall parapets. I love the way they executed the new articulation as it does not detract from the classic look of the figures!
Also solicited was new figures based on the origins sketches of the Ninja Turtles shown below that will be Target exclusives. Each figure has it’s associated colored bandanas and arm bands and also classic weapons. These to look highly articulated and stylized. These look to be available in June.

The Whole Shebang also put the Original Sketch TMNT figures up for preorder:
They also posted an official image of the set!

Target Exclusive Sketch Turtles coming in June shown below.
