BAT Retro Cardback GI Joe Classified Series In-Hand Images
Huge thanks to Old Skool Toyz on YouTube for posting early images of the GI Joe Classified Series Retro Cardback B.A.T.! Digitally render revealed during the March 2025 GI Joe Classified Series FanStream, the Retro Cardback Classified Series B.A.T. (Battle Android Trooper) is a love letter to long-time G.I. Joe fans and an homage to his cartoon appearance. Though technically the sixth iteration of this popular Cobra trooper, this version stands out with extra paint apps on the accessories and vintage appeal that sets it apart from its predecessors that combines both his vintage and cartoon aesthetics into one figure! This updated B.A.T. brings a vivid, cartoon-accurate look, combining the iconic design of the original 1986 figure with modern enhancements.
The accessories are where this figure truly shines. The BAT comes with an impressive and more colorful packout that sets it apart from its previous releases. Collectors will appreciate the clear chest plate, a long-requested accessory finally delivered, in both standard and battle damaged form. It also includes a battle-damaged head sculpt. All these can be stored in a backpack that attaches to the figure’s back.
The B.A.T. comes with swappable weapon arms and a purple-tipped laser cannon with a matching blast effect.
Here is a close up of his orange-tinted flamethrower with flame attachment, which looks awesome on the figure. The flamethrower was always my favorite attachment in the vintage figure.
And finally, the iconic claw attachment brings back those classic vintage feels!
The head features the classic red faceplate with side vents and silver detailing on the back, echoing both the animated and comic book versions. Yellow accents across the chest, shoulder hooks, and boots are brighter than ever, enhancing the figure’s visual punch.
The control panel on the chest is more colorful than earlier versions.
The Cobra insignia on the left arm is outlined in yellow, making it pop dramatically against the black uniform.
Here is how the Retro Cardback version compares to his first release as the yellow definitely pops a heck of a lot more than the orange!
