The McFarlane DC Super Powers line returns to retail in a BIG WAY as Walmart exclusives so get yours today!
After 40 plus long years, DC Super Powers returns to retail shelves! Don’t know about you, but the Kenner Super Powers line was one of my (Toy Sorceress) favorite toy lines growing up! As you know that line was based on the 1980’s Super Friends animated series. I remember getting up super early Saturday mornings with my sister just to watch the Super Friends. I could barely get my eyes open, while sneaking into the kitchen to get a bowl of my favorite sugary cereal very quietly as to not wake anyone up! So, when McFarlane Toys announced that they were going to be re-releasing the line, I was over the moon! But then I heard they were going to be a Walmart exclusive, and I was like womp womp… sad trombones… As you know, Walmart is not really known for their wonderful product distribution, let along their shipping practices. Nonetheless, still super excited that this line is making a triumphant return to retail!
UPDATE 01/19/2023: Walmart Listing Found for Wave 3:
We were able to locate the Walmart Online listings for Wonder Woman, Deathstroke and Night Wing. There aren’t any images on the listings yet, but the links are below:

UPDATE 01/04/2023: Latest Wave of DC Super Powers spotted at Walmart!
Figures from the latest wave of the new McFarlane Supers Powers Toy Line are now starting to show up on pegs at Walmart! Nightwing, Deathstroke and Wonder Woman, all part of the latest waves are showing up currently at some Walmarts! Thank you to Thommy Hartley, David Kelso , Henry Dowell, and Marrick Armstrong for posting these images, credits are under each photo.

Here we get to take a look at Wonder Woman, Deathstroke and Nightwing packages close up.

Here is Deathstroke out of his package looks spectacular! Thanks to David Kelso for posting these. His bright colors fit in nicely with the other figures.
Thanks to Thommy Hartley for posting these photos of Wonder Woman and giving us more insight on what her new cape looks like!

And if you were wondering if they improved Wonder Woman’s cape, it looks like they made it a little softer, but it still seems a little stiff and ribbon like similar to Superman and Batman came with. It’s time for the Capemaster to get on it! The thecapemaster on eBay makes great replacement capes for the DC Superpowers figures, so be sure to check out his shop page! But the good news is, I think they are no longer putting that plastic strap thru the cape, because I do not see a whole in it, so that is progress!

UPDATE 08/14/2022: New Batman Who Laughs & Flash Figures spotted at Walmart!
In classic McFarlane Style, another new unannounced character has shown up in the wild at retail! Posted to facebook, a new character was spotted in one of the those large Walmart displays! Thanks to Juan Zuniga for posting images of the new Batman Who Laughs Character which is an evil Jokerized version of Batman. I hope that we will eventually get a classic Power Powers version of Batman, but it is fun to see these new characters just showing up in stores unannounced! We also got images of yet another figure! Check it out below!
According to Villains Wiki | Fandom
The Batman Who Laughs is an evil version of Bruce Wayne and a major antagonist in the DC Comics universe. He appears as the secondary antagonist of Dark Nights: Metal, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Perpetua) of Dark Nights: Death Metal, the titular main antagonist of The Batman Who Laughs seven-issue miniseries and one of the two main antagonists (alongside Lex Luthor) of the Year of the Villain saga.
He is a “Jokerized” version of Batman who originated from the Dark Multiverse. He is the team leader of the Dark Knights and their goal was to help their master Barbatos plunge the entire Multiverse into complete and utter chaos and darkness. This course of action makes themselves enemies of the Justice League. The Batman Who Laughs traces his origin to a different Earth, which had him actually slay his own version of the Joker. After gaining the powers of Doctor Manhattan via transferring his brain into an alternate Bruce Wayne known as Batmanhattan, he becomes a being of pure darkness with omnipotent power known as The Darkest Knight.

Kenner Super Powers Vintage Flash
The new version of Flash very closely resembles the original Vintage Kenner Super Powers version that was released in the very first wave in 1984. Above you can see a photo of Flash sitting on the pegs at Walmart, and below is pictured the Vintage Kenner Version. You can see how closely the new version resembles the original and with this character, I am happy to see that McFarlane went classic with him!

New Super Powers Line
The new McFarlane DC Super Powers toys are overflowing with nostalgia and harken back directly to the vintage Super Powers Line! These new figures and vehicles have been showing up in stores randomly, but now Walmart has finally added them to their website online and we have all the links for you! Plus, a new unannounced figure has been spotted at Walmart! This is just like McFarlane’s M.O to ship out unannounced figures to be found in the wild and then officially announce it afterwards.
It’s been super exciting to see these figures on store shelves! But recently, these huge displays have been spotted in stores as well, photos by TOYSHIZ Instagram page and actionfigureinsider page. And if you look carefully at the bottom of the display, you will notice an unannounced figure made it’s way out in the wild! It’s none other than the John Stewart version of Green Lantern!

History of Kenner Super Powers Line
The Kenner Super Powers line was launched in 1984 and ran thru 1986. It consisted of 3 Waves with a total of 34 epic figures, 8 vehicles and 1 amazing playset! The line was heavily influenced by the 1980’s Super Friends Cartoon, but was not a direct translation of the animated series. The first wave consisted of 12 figures and of all DC heavy hitters like Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Joker, Penguin etc.. The second wave had a little bit more deep cuts from the comic books with characters like Darkseid, Firestorm, Green Arrow and Dr. Fate. The third and final wave consisted of very obscure characters which is why they are the rarest of the line and worth a lot of money on the secondary market. The final wave had figures like Plastic Man, Samurai and the rarest Cyborg.

According to Super Powers toyline and products | SuperFriends Wiki | Fandom
DC Comics awarded the license of their characters to Kenner Toys, hot on the heels of Mattel‘s “action feature” heavy He-Man toy line. Winning the license away from Mego Corporation and Mattel with their emphasis on action and art, Kenner devised hidden mechanisms within the figures that would trigger an action when the figures legs or arms were squeezed. This emphasis on each figure’s “super power” led to the naming of the line – The Super Powers Collection. Each figure in the first two series were also packaged with a mini-comic featuring that character’s adventures (a detailed list of these minicomics can be found at List of Super Powers Minicomics).
Once the line was in full force a merchandising frenzy took place, with DC Comics and Kenner slapping a Super Powers logo on whatever they possibly could. Three series of figures and accessories were released: in 1984, 1985, and 1986.
In addition, the toy line helped establish the mainstream acceptance of artist Jack Kirby’s seminal “Fourth World” characters, particularly Darkseid and his minions. Evidently, the Kenner representatives were interested in a cosmic line of villains for the superhero characters, and Kirby’s creations were deemed ideal by them for this purpose. In fact, Kirby was commissioned to design the action figures for his characters, such as Darkseid, which resulted in the only time Kirby directly monetarily benefitted from his comic book creations apart from his work-for-hire wages. Another major comic book creator, George Perez, was similarly commissioned to design the action figure for his character, Cyborg.

You will notice immediately what an amazing job that McFarlane has done to recreate the vintage Super Powers Packaging! Complete with the Super Powers & character logos, blue, yellow star bursts and stripped background just like the vintage figures! They did choose to go in a totally different design direction with Batman and Darkseid, but overall they kept that nostalgic vintage feel to the figures. Pictured below are the vintage versions so you can see what they looked like compared to the new line.

He retained his vintage lines, and 7 POA design with the John Stewart character design.
