During Day 3 of SDCC 2022, Hasbro revealed more GI Joe Classified Series figures, Serpentor and Air Chariot, pipeline reveals updates & more!

Hasbro came out swinging with their GI Joe Classified Series reveals and updates to their pipeline reveals during Yo Joe June. During this panel, they revealed what we thought would follow the GI Joe Classified Series Dr. Mindbender figure (who is also available for preorder)with their AMAZING Serpentor and Air Chariot reveal! Select digital renders of the GI Joe Classified Series Pipeline reveals were also shown plus the announcement of the Cobra Flight Pod with Televiper!

Serpentor & Air Chariot

Back on April 15, 2022, we speculated that a deluxe Serpentor could be in the works given Dr. Mindbender’s royal deluxe GI Joe Classified Series treatment on Episode 66 of our Youtube channel, entitled Gi Joe Classified Series Speculation | Could a Deluxe Serpentor Follow the Dr. Mindbender Reveal?

As we know from the GI Joe mini-series Arise, Serpentor Arise, Serpentor was created by Cobra scientist Dr. Mindbender as part of a conspiracy within Cobra to create the perfect soldier but, in actuality, Mindbender and Destro were plotting to create a leader to supplant Cobra Commander. Raiding several tombs that contain history’s greatest warriors and their DNA, this would serve as the genetic blueprint for this super soldier. Possessing the acute military genius, courage, daring, charisma, political know how and fighting prowess of these historic leaders, what could go wrong??? UPDATE: 7/27/22 Hasbro Official Images thru Instagram

Today we got official images thru Emily of the Hasbro GI Joe Team’s Instagram Page of Serpentor and his Air Chariot which is said to be an upcoming Pulse Con exclusive!

Box and Art

Serpentor’s box and art is beautiful and is in the same style as Dr. Mindbender’s deluxe style box! It features artwork of the Air Chariot plus the weapons and accessory pack out that Serpentor comes with in an amazing

The other box art for Serpentor features him and his throne sitting on the lap of the Lincoln memorial, which is so apropos! It also features an amazing scene of Cobra aircraft feeling the Cobra stronghold in victory! A funny scene has him punching the lights out of Cobra Commander, which is hilarious and very well illustrated!

Figure and Air Chariot

The Serpentor figure and Air Chariot look impressive! Rather than coming with a soft goods cape, it appears that he comes with a plastic green version that has snake skin texturing on it. In fact, there is snake skin texting all over him and is very subtle and well executed as to not to overwhelm the figure or the Air Chariot

You also get to see the inside of the Air Chariot with the handle bars and flight controls. The riveting details are a nice touch as it ads a meal look to the gold vehicle!

Leaked Prototype Images

We new this was coming…but when!!!?? Several pieces of what appear to be prototypes of various parts of Serpentor have surfaced, including head sculpts, his classic snake, his lower torso, waist, and legs. A fin from his Air Chariot, suggesting that this figure will be packed with his vintage style vehicle is surprising as we thought this figure would come with a gold RAM Cycle (WE ARE JOKING!!!) but hey, anything is possible! A couple things to point out are how well the snake helmet fits around Serpentor’s head and how cool the waist piece with the snake head on it looks!

Pipeline Reveal Updates

Tele-Viper & Flight Pod

Continuing with the NAME ONLY REVEALS, Lenny and Emily introduced that the Cobra Flight Pod (aka Trubble Bubble) will be coming to GI Joe Classified Series along with Televiper as a figure pack in! We have not seen what this will look like so we provided some concepts and references to the vintage vehicle to refresh your memory!

The Televiper is an amazing figure to have packed in with the Trubble Bubble and below is a concept of what this figure could look like in the GI Joe Classified Series! It will be intersting to see if they reuse some form of breaker’s helmet, like this custom did, and finally make a removable helmet for the Televiper.

Retro Cardback Crimson Guard

In a surprise reveal, the Crimson Guard will be coming to the GI Joe Classified Series Retro Cardback line! This was shocking becuase we still have not received the standard figure in hand yet and the figure already looked retro inspired to begin with.

The stand version of the Crimson Guard came out AMAZING!!! The accessories are module and one really surprising accessory they gave him was an officers sword that can plug into and stow on the backpack or his belt, which is a design decision they made mid sculpt. These will look fantastic right night to Tomax and Xamot so really looking forward to this figure.

For potential illustrations of what the retro cardback could look like, here are some images of the vintage, 25th Anniversary, and Hall of Heroes designs. I am sure we pretty much know what we are getting!

Retro Cardback Snake Eyes

In a not so surprising and downright disappointing reveal, we are getting yet ANOTHER VERSION OF SNAKE EYES!!! This is his v1 commando uniform, which is classic in nature!

For potential illustrations of what the retro cardback could look like, here are some images of the vintage, 25th Anniversary, Hall of Heroes, and newly released O-Ring designs. Like the Crimson Guard, I am sure we pretty much know what we are getting!

Rock N Roll v1

Hasbro decided to go with a v1 version of Rock N Roll, which is going to make many collectors happy as he is one of the original Joes! He features his classic ‘whole 9 yards’ amo belts across his chest plus his classic long machine gun!

For some history, Rock N Roll came out in 1982 as the first batch of 3 3/4″ GI Joes and the first figure had straight arms. The following year, Hasbro introduced the Swivel Arms to the line, which they subsequently implemented it to all the original characters in wave 1.5. The original figure had yellow hair and beard, dark green short-sleeved shirt with two gold ammo belts across chest, dark green pants with gold pockets and brown brown boots. The first of the Joes took on more of a green shirt look and hopefully they will be adding more detail than the first of the green shirts to be released, Breaker!

This custom comes to us from Grid Iron Studios as we can see what a vintage GI Joe Classified Series Rock N Roll could look like with a full weapons pack out and even a helmet with goggles that lower and raise just like the vintage figure. As we know, the Rock N Roll from 1982 did not come with a visor but this is what the Classified Series is all about where we can reimagine what the figures could look like in modern times. As for a concept for Rock N Roll for the Classified Series, we could see a layered look to the figure with a removable bandolier, holsters for his weapons and ammo, and a removable helmet. Although Rock N Roll did not come with a backpack, it would be interesting to see him come with more accessories to make the character more interesting as the vintage figure was a bit bland but iconic. For example, it would be cool to see a gun holster on the boot so maybe they can add some flair like that! We could definitely see a Classified Series Rock N Roll looking very similar to this and it would be amazing so we are looking forward to the actual reveal from Hasbro at a later point in time.

Shipwreck

Shipwreck is featured in his classic dungaree sailor uniform and he looks amazing! The digital renders of his face look spectacular and we can’t wait to see what a painted, plastic version looks like!

There have have been several versions of Shipwreck but the most iconic and well known version is version from the Sunbow cartoon series and vintage toy line. He featured brown hair and beard, a white sailor’s hat, a short-sleeved blue shirt with red chevrons on right arm, blue bell-bottom pants with black gloves, a holster, a hook on his waist to hold accessories. He also came with old-fashioned silver revolver with short strap, silver hook with string, and a green and yellow parrot named Polly.

As Lenny and Emily mentioned, Shipwreck will be going back to his roots and taking on his traditional sailor uniform with dungarees (aka jeans for you youngins out there!). In the custom concept show below, it would be great to see actual rope of twine used to connect his silver hooks, like is shown in the vintage card art. The backpack pirch is a cool concept and can give Polly as resting place. The vintage Polly could sit on his wrist so it will be cool to see what they do with him.

Copperhead

Copperhead is another one of those most wanted figures and the digital render provides and updated, more modern look that compliments his vintage style. The cool thing is that Copperhead was a pack in with the Water Moccasin so it’s going to be cool to see how his packaging turns out.

Emily and Lenny revealed that we have Copperhead and Torpedo to the Classified Series in the Spring of 2023 during the June 8, 2022 during their traditional YouTube Live Stream. Copperhead was introduced to the GI Joe line via the Cobra Water Moccasin, which was essentially a PT boat that was most likly created as an answer to both the W.H.A.L.E. and the S.H.A.R.C..

They are currently in the sculpting phase and below you can see concept images of what they might look like. Below we have a great custom By Stronox of Copperhead, in his classic V1 teal green color scheme. It is great to see some of the vintage elements make it into this custom, such as the large solver logo in the middle of his chest, his classic helmet, and the holsters that are strapped to his left chest and right leg.

Torpedo

Torpedo was also revealed as a digital render and looks spectacular in his Navy Seal suit! His gear looks modern with a lot of great angles to it and given that the original figure was black and gray, it will be intersting to see how they vary the color to incorporate those tones. It also looks like he will have a removable mask so we can finally see his face!

Torpedo was part of the 1983 series of GI Joe A Real American Hero toys and his appearance consisted of a black diving mask that exposed his eyes, a black and grey diving suit with grey belt and gloves. He came packed with a grey scuba backpack with orange tanks, a black harpoon gun and two grey flippers that fit in the pegs of his feet.

We also have below you concept images of what Torpedo may look like in his gray and black ARAH style outfit posted by badsociologist. In this custom, we see nods to nostalgia represented in this GI Joe Classified Series concept but with a very different paint app applied and with a closed mask where you can barely see his eyes. His scuba gear looks more realistic and he appears more like a special forces Navy SEAL than anything else.

Low Light

Low Light was a surprise as he has not been hinted at and, come to think of it, he should not be that much of surprise given the recent announcement of Slaughter’s Marauder’s Barbecue! They did not have a digital render of him but we expect him to look very much like the custom below!

Here is a custom concept of what Low Light could look like coming from the ever so talented Stronox customs! This custom pays homage to the ARAH version of Low Light, which we expect the Classified Series version to do!

According to Joepedia, “Low-Light is one of the sneakiest members of the Joe Team. He can move through foliage and in the dead of night virtually undetected. He can maintain his position and be still for hours. It doesn’t matter what advantage the enemy has, when the sun goes down and you can’t even see two inches from you, that is when you know that the darkness is where Low-Light truly reigns. Low-Light’s superb sniper skill enables him to pick off his targets in even the lowest of illumination affordable. He prefers to maintain his own night-vision equipment. He actually made his own innovations in image-intensification, mostly self-taught, and even holds two patents from his efforts.” He featured yellow hair, a black cap, red goggles, a dark grey jacket with red pad on right shoulder, black gloves, and dark grey pants with black belt. As for his weapons pack out, he featured a large, thick pouch backpack, a black Uzi with trigger guard, and black 7.62mm Moel 85 sniper’s rifle with large scope and tiny bipod.
