Inspired by the Princess of Power episode “Loo-Kee Lends a Hand, Mr. Home Arcade does it again with an early in-hand look at the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection Hordak. Revealed at SDCC 2024, this version of Hordak really hits a home run with respect to nailing the Filmation vibe as well as some much needed upgrades in the sculpt and parts swapability of the figure! Mr. Home Arcade got really vreative on this one this and you’ll enjoy the various ideas he gives to add on to this already great figure so check out the amazing pics below! Also, be on the lookout for Mr. Home Arcade’s video review on his YouTube channel as we’ll be sure to update this article once it goes live!

Hordak comes packaged on the She-Ra 40th Anniversary card with his Time Stop device accessory packed between his legs. You can also see the cross sell for the other figures in Wave 22, which include Man-E-Faces, which he already reviewed, and Tri-Klops.

This version of Hordak is outstanding! As the Cartoon Collection is known for toning down the details, they really poured a lot of sculpting into the ruthless leader of the evil Horde! He features a cartoon accurate face sculpt and they even remembered to paint his eyes and his teeth red!

From the side, you can see his black bicep bands and his black wrist cuffs. You can also see how the bone details on his armor and his hood wrap around to form a complete circle.

What is also great about this version is that you can finally swap out just his head sculpt as his head is on a ball joint that is not attached to his collar.

He also comes with a time-stop device accessory inspired by the Princess of Power episode “Loo-Kee Lends a Hand.

Hordak looks great holding the Time Stop device as he looks like he is pumping some iron before he performs his duties as the leader of the Horde.

Here are some comparisons of the Cartoon Collection Hordak with the Horde 4-Pack version from Power Con 2021 and the Turtles of Grayskull Hordak as you can see the differences armor and head sculpts.

Here is a head swap example using the Turtles of Grayskull Hordak as you can give the Cartoon Collection version some different looks!

Although Hordak does not come with his Canon arm, you can swap it out to create a super cool look! This arm canon was designed by the late great Renders FX!

Here is a side-by-side with the Horde 4-Pack Hordak with the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection version with the upgraded arm cannon.

If you want to get really fancy, you can take the bottom part of Metal-Boto’s arm and swap that out to create a really cool look with a blast effect from Mouse-Jaw! All you need to do is put the parts in hot water for 45 seconds and it’s an easy swap!
