Hurricane Hordak MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive Hi-Res Art Reveal & Official Images

April is looking like it’s going to be a great month for MOTU Collectors! The preorder for Hurricane Hordak got moved from April 8th to now April 23rd, but now we have even more information! If you are a Club Grayskull member, you would have received an email from Mattel Creations with a link to get a sneak preview at the upcoming Hurricane Hordak exclusive figure. Huge thanks to masterversal_toyhunter for the heads up that Mattel Creations has posted official images and their listing for Hurricane Hordak! The figure goes up for preorder on April 23, 2025 at 9am PT for Club Grayskull members and April 24, 2025 at 9am PT for everyone else. Roy Juarez also posted a 360 view of the box, which gives us all of the angles!

We can see a cool scene that features Hurricane Hordak front and center with his bola and Despara, Dragstor, and the new characters that were featured on Modulok’s box art! We believe the green character could be Bug Eye, a deep cut concept from the Masters of the Universe Classics era created by the amazing and talented Axel Gimenez, but he confirmed that is not is this Instagram post!

Calling all vintage collectors! Hurricane Hordak, the ruthless first variant interpretation of this hostile Horde leader, swirls into the Origins line. Pulling his design from the figure first released in 1986. Staying true to his original look, he sports shiny VUM golden armor and wields a robot cannon arm with multiple threatening attachments. Etheria, be warned: this alternate reality version is even more powerful and dangerous than the villain She-Ra has fought before.

As we got an early peak at Hordak’s official images a couple days ago, these are much clearer and show more of the details. The arm cannon fits over his hand and you can see all of the fierceness in his alternate head, inspired by one of the character’s original sketches.

Update: Early Images of Hurricane Hordak emerge

It seems that an early look at Hurricane Hordak has emerged on social media, and we got a look at these two images thanks to Yo Tengo El Poder on Instagram! It looks like Hurricane Hordak will indeed get a shinny gold vac metal chest (VUM). And we can also see that he has his action feature on his arm with the spinning mace attachment. You will also notice that Hordak comes packed with 2 heads. The second head is styled after early sketches of the figure. If we translate what Yo Tengo El Poder posted it says “Photos of Hurricane Hordak, the upcoming @mattelcreations exclusive with pre-sale for Grayskull Club members, are appearing online. It can almost be confirmed that yes, it will have Action Featured seeing how in the forearm there is space and a wheel. It will come with an extra arm and head, the latter inspired by one of the character’s original sketches.”

Sneak Preview

We also got information more on Instagram as well. According to motuorigingscork on Instagram, Hurricane Hordak will be available on April 23rd at 9am PT thru April 24th at 8:59am PT to Club Grayskull members to buy during this early access window, limit 3 figures (this has been corrected, see below) per customer. After that Hurricane Hordak will be available to the general public. The cool thing about this post, is that we also got a sneak peek on the figure and his does have a VAC metal ( or VUM) chest!

We got an update that the limit during the Club Grayskull early access with actually be 3 per customer, then if he hasn’t sold out will be 3 per customer during the general sale.

Back on March 4, 2025, The Mattel Creations UK has put up their launch Calendar for March and April, which is not on the US launch calendar, indicating that MOTU Collectors Mattel Creations exclusives are going up for preorder on March 6, 2025 and April 8, 2025 at 9am PT. We already knew a Mattel Creations exclusive figure was going up for preorder on March 6, 2025 based on the Club Grayskull announcement, which will be a members only figure going live at the Mattel Creations REVEALED event! The hint that Mattel gave was it is to be a Powers of Grayskull figure and He-Ro finally made his appearance! Also, announced during the live stream on March 6, 2025, it was revealed that Hurricane Hordak will be the next MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive. What we did not expect was another MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive to go up for preorder in the same month! Huge thanks to toyhuntershollow for the heads up!

MOTU Origins Hurricane Hordak

Mentioned during the live stream, Hurricane Hordak will be the next Mattel Creations exclusive released for the MOTU Origins vintage line! Hurricane Hordak was released in 1985. A deluxe variant of the original Hordak figure, he had a Horde bat on his right hand that created a ‘hurricane” twirling effect. Hurricane Hordak is one of the original vintage deluxe figures we yet to get in the line, so maybe this is a tease of things to come. The original Hurrican Hordak was released in 1985 and came with a spinning Horde bat gimmick on his right hand that could be swapped out for two other accessories, shown below.

We saw Hurrican Hordak teased on the Sy-Klone card back art. Here is a view of the front card art in hi resolution! The colors look incredible, and you can make out the huge army of Horde Troopers coming out of that tower next to Hurricane Hordak with his spinning right hand of evil is the perfect nemesis for Sy-Klone!
