Revealed today at Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Fanstream Dec 2024, for the first time ever, a new Spider-Man action figure inspired after the 1977 live action The Amazing Spider-Man TV series starring Nicolas Hammond! The very earliest memories I have of Spider-Man are from the 1977 live action TV series. To me, this was a classic Spider-Man and I am amazed it too almost 48 years to finally get a Spider-Man in this style! He comes with his classic homemade web shooter on his right wrist and belt, plus those groovy eyes on the costume that Peter Parker (AKA Nicolas Hammond) fashioned for himself on the show. This new version of Spider-Man comes packaged in a window box with retro styling and the ‘Spider-Man ’77’ moniker and multicolored logo. This is said to be a Walmart exclusive (yes I’m screaming inside!)… and will be released in 2025. Hopefully Hasbro Pulse will put some up for order as well. But only time will tell, in the meantime let’s check out this newly revealed Marvel Legends Walmart Exclusive Spiderman ’77! Huge thanks to the Baroness of Toys and Toyhuntershollow for the heads up!

The Amazing Spider-Man Live Action TV Series:
The 1977 live action Amazing Spider-Man TV series was a television adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book character Spider-Man. The series starred Nicholas Hammond as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and aired for two seasons from 1977 to 1979.
The show followed the adventures of Peter Parker, a young college student who gains superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. As Spider-Man, Peter uses his newfound powers to fight crime and protect the citizens of New York City.
The series featured a number of iconic Spider-Man villains, including the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and the Kingpin. The show also incorporated elements from the comics, such as Peter’s relationships with his Aunt May and fellow journalist J. Jonah Jameson.
While the show was popular among fans of the character, it received mixed reviews from critics and was eventually cancelled after its second season. Despite its short run of only 2 seasons, the 1977 live action Amazing Spider-Man TV series remains a nostalgic favorite among fans of the character. I know it’s one of my personal childhood favorites!

According to SpideyCast – The Amazing Spider-Man (TV series) – Wikipedia:
The Amazing Spider-Man (known simply as Spider-Man for the second season) is an American superhero television series based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is the first live-action television series featuring Spider-Man and was shown on CBS in the United States from September 14, 1977 to July 6, 1979.Though it was a considerable ratings success, the CBS series was cancelled after just 13 episodes, which included a pilot film airing in autumn of 1977. Despite its storylines being set in New York City (the character’s hometown), the series was mostly filmed in Los Angeles.
You can see a photo of the cast here, and some of you might recognize Nicolas Hammond from the episode ” The subject was noses”, when Marsha exclained “Ooh, my nose!” and got beaned by a football. Her nose got all swollen before her big date with big man on campus, Doug Simpson (AKA Nicolas Hammond)
