UPDATE October 10, 2022: Movie HE-Man Official Images
New Official images for Movie He-Man we released today along with Preorders on Entertainment Earth and BBTS. If you recall this figure was announced back on Aug 30th, and there were mixed reviews about He-Man’s face sculpt. Well, I have to say, that Mattel listened, and the new official releases include 2 new alternate head sculpts and they are vastly improved! It is great to see all of the weapons and accessories for this figure! He Man looks to share the original He-Man buck, rather than the new bulkier 40th Anniversary buck, which is a little disappointing. He-Man’s head sculpt got 2 new looks! He now comes with a new vintage style head, which looks to be an all new sculpt and new interpretation on his classic head sculpt! The alternate head is supposed to resemble his movie counterpart, Dolph Lundgren. The first images of this head were not very impressive, but now it looks like they have improved it. He comes with bronze-colored chest and shoulder armor with a brown wash, with a ton of wonderful detail He is even wearing bicep straps and a movie styled wrist bracer on his left wrist. He comes with several knife holsters, one on his waist and another on his ankle. He also has a sword holster on his back as well., but weirdly it goes thru his cape. There is also a short sword in a holster on his right hip. Movie He-Man is also wearing a very nice looking red soft goods cape with some nice gold trim detail pattern at the bottom.
UPDATE October 4, 2022: Movie Skeletor Official Images
Thanks for yo_tengo_el_poder, we now have more images of the movie Skeletor Masterverse figure! It is great to see all of the weapons and accessories for this figure! He comes with his Havoc Staff, styled after the one that appeared in the movie, a soft goods cape, an extra layer that goes under his cape, and extra set of hands and the coolest accessory, the Cosmic Key!
The Havoc Staff is highly detailed and looks just like it appeared in the movie.
He also comes with a sword and looking at the pack out, he is deserving of a deluxe figure, but not by much! We feel like he could have been packed as a standard figure but it looks like he got the same treatment as She-Ra and just made deluxe by the skin (or bone) of his teeth!
UPDATE 8/31/2022: Box Art Revealed
Thanks to Manuel Caritas for revealing the box art for the forthcoming Masters of the Universe 1987 Movie figures! Here is what he wrote in his post:
People of Eternia! As revealed yesterday on @masters#MOTUesday Masterverse welcomes in ‘87 Masters of the Universe film inspired He-Man and Skeletor! Here’s a special preview of some of the artwork the Heroic Artist Eamon O’Donoghue painted for the upcoming Masterverse packaging.
Put the two pieces of art together can you get a really amazing cosmic scene that immortalizes the struggle between He-Man and Skeletor that was portrayed on the silver screen in 1987.

August 30, 2022
Today we got a second dose of MOTUesdays as Mattel dropped a New Eternia Beastman vs. He-Man stop motion animation this morning, then hit us with another big drop! This time it was the Masterverse Versions of the 1987 Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture He-Man and Skeletor Action figure reveals! These new figures are molded after Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langelia as Skeletor.
At the center of the universe, at the border between the light and the dark, stands… New Masterverse figures! These figures feature authentic detailing, accurate weapon accessories, and packaging art all inspired by the 1987 Masters of the Universe film.
Dressed in their Motion Picture design outfits, these new figure designs feature some new sculpts. The He Man Figure looks to share the original He-Man buck, which Skeletor looks to be an all-new design. He-Man’s head sculpt is supposed to resemble his movie counterpart, Dolph Lundgren but it’s hard to tell how well they pulled this off by the angle of his head in the image. His bronze-colored chest and shoulder armor with a brown wash, have a lot of wonderful detail and he is even wearing bicep straps and a movie styled wrist bracer on his left wrist. He looks to have several knife holsters, one on his waist and another on his ankle. Then it looks like Movie He-Man has some sword holsters as well. There looks to be a short sword in a holster on his right hip. And it looks like he has a holster for his power sword on his back. Movie He-Man is also wearing a very nice looking red soft goods cape with some nice detail pattern at the bottom.
Masters of the Universe the Move He-Man Masterverse Reveal
Movie Skeletor is very reminiscent of Frank Langelia’s look on the Motion Picture. His face has that melted skeleton look and his is wearing a black cloak and a longer armor looking over coat. He also includes dark purple shoulder armor and a matching-colored soft goods cape as well. He is wearing burgundy chest armor with a lot of detailed patterns in it and silver colored ankle guards. He has a ton of silver accents on his fingers, wrists and waist apron. His havoc staff is also designed to look like the Motion Picture version as well. Could this be the mystery figure that was listed on BBTS this week?
Masters of the Universe the Move Skeletor Masterverse Reveal
Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture
Masters of the Universe the Movie came put in 1987 and instantly became a cult classic. He-Man was played by the great Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langelia as Skeletor. Somewhat of a departure from the classic He-Man story, Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture has is place in cinema history and is still a fan favorite.
Masters of the Universe was released theatrically in the United States on August 7, 1987. It was a critical and commercial failure, grossing $17 million worldwide against a budget of $22 million, but is now regarded as a classic cult film.
UPDATE Where to Buy: Amazon has pulled the listings but in case they come back they are here below for your reference

They show a Nov. 12, 2022 release date!
August 30, 2022 MOTUesday News Roundup: Beast Man Brawls with 40th Anniversary He-Man Stop Motion Video
This morning we got teased with another awesome but short video of New Eternia Beast Man pounding on poor Man At Arms, then attacks 40th Anniversary He-Man, and He-Man ain’t having it. He slugs Beast Man then the video ends with the 40th Anniversary Logo. What did this mean? Mattel left us with yet another cliffhanger:
The video starts out with New Eternia Beast Man in his furry chest armor, just wailing on poor Man at Arms, he doesn’t stand a chance. Then Beast Man spots 40th Anniversary He-Man and lunges toward him with his huge club while He-Man’s back is turned. But He-Man thrwarts off Beast Man’s club and stops it with his axe! Then He-Man slugs the heck out of Beast Man’s face! And that’s how the video ends. In the last video we saw revelation hit He-Man and bait him into chasing him into a portal. We thought we were going to see what happens on the on the side of that portal and Skeletor knew he wasn’t going to do anything to He-man with his wimpy punch and he was baiting him to follow back through the portal. We think he is going to transform from his Revelation version into his classic 40th Anniversary version (we have yet to see) and kick that living daylights out of He-Man. But this video did not continue that story, so what does this all mean? Only time will tell

We don’t have a link for his pre-order page yet, but as soon as it comes up, we will be sure to update you.
Coming in September: Grizzlor! A limited quantity of Grizzlor figures will go on sale day one, but if you miss out we’ve got you covered — a second made-to-order batch goes on sale the very next day. Sale: Sep 9th at 9am PT
The Mattel Creations Grizzlor was revealed to us by Skelly himself last month during SDCC. His card back art looked spectacular with a view of the Fright Zone in the background and it looks like Blonde Teela facing off with Grizzlor. Fans were concerned that this sought after fan favorite was going to be hard to obtain being a Mattel Creations exclusive, well fans don’t have to worry any more because this new made to order pre-order window is going to allow anyone who wants to buy our furry little friend, to get there hands on him!
Grizzlor (Standard Release)
But we first saw Grizzlor revealed during Mattel’s Great week of reveals back in March! Grizzlor, member of the Evil Horde, nemesis to She-Ra and her band of Rebels on the planet of Etheria, the Evil Horde is an interstellar empire, bent on dominating the Universe! Grizzlor was often featured in Hordak’s throne room, where many a time, Hordak would send poor Grizzlor thru the famous trap door. Dark Face Grizzlor has been previously released in the 2021 Power Con Exclusive Origins Evil Horde 4-Pack, but now we are getting the more common version of Grizzlor in his lighter skin tone and fur color. His head has real fur rooted hair and he is wearing a “fur” body suit in 2 halfs which allows his body to retain the interchangeability as the rest of the origins figures with the removeable torso section and removeable arms! I already own the Power Con exclusive version; I don’t know about you, but I am certainly going to pick up the standard release as well! It will be so cool to see this furry guy on own individual card back! I am so excited for this one and can’t wait to get him in hand!!
Grizzlor has always been a fan favorite, but let’s take a look at where did Grizzlor come from. He was a member of the Evil Horder as seen in the 1980’s She-Ra Princess of Power Filmation Cartoon series. He was often see with Catra and Leech. Hordak was always in a bad mood whenever Grizzlor would visit him and often found himself the the victim of falling down Hordak’s trap door!
Grizzlor was first released by Mattel in 1985 as part of the Evil Horde Subline. A total departure from the rest of the Masters of the Universe figures to date, Grizzlor was a completely furr covered character and looked totally different from the rest of the figures that came before him.
A member of the Evil Horde, Grizzlor is a hairy man-beast creature from the wild, covered in thick brown fur and sharp claws, who attacks his opponents with the power of brute strength. Most story media have portrayed him as a mindless brute with little in the way of intelligence.
Grizzlor is introduced into the Masters of the Universe toy line in 1985 among the first wave of Evil Horde figures. His figure was packaged with the mini-comic “Grizzlor: The Legend Comes Alive!” which portrays him as a kind of urban legend among the Eternians, a product of apparent “tall tales” about a wild man-beast which roams the night stalking its prey. After Buzz-Off disturbs his Heroic comrades with tales of the creature, it later transpires that Grizzlor is a real creature and has been hired by Hordak to fight against He-Man and the Heroic Warriors. Grizzlor is portrayed as a mindless, savage killing machine, who is defeated by being shown his own reflection in a mirror; he apparently fears nothing but the sight of his own gruesome visage.
Masters of the Universe Grizzlor Vintage figure
Grizzlor also appears in several of the Masters of the Universe comic series. A notable one of these are the UK comics published by London Editions, which portray him as one of the least intelligent of all the evil characters. In this series he is frequently used for comic relief and has a childlike mentality, implying he is not actually evil and has merely been misled by Hordak into helping with his schemes. An origin story in a later issue explains that he comes from the jungle world of Jungulia “on the outer edge of the spiral arm of the N24 galaxy” and is a member of a race of man-beast creatures. Although his race was peaceful, by the age of 428 he had developed a savage anger that shocked his family, and stumbled across a range of powerful weapons in a cave. His youthful nature led him to see them as toys, and play with them as such. When detected with the weapons by Horde Prime‘s sata-spies, they mistook him for an evil warrior and reported him to Hordak, who beamed him on board his ship, erasing all memories of Jungulia from his mind so he would willingly serve him. At first, upon seeing the advanced weapons, Hordak mistakenly believed Grizzlor must possess an incredible mental genius, but subsequently Grizzlor proved to have no remote intelligence, rendering Hordak confused as to why Horde Prime wanted him in the Horde.
Filmation series
Grizzlor appears in animated form in the cartoon series She-Ra: Princess of Power, in which the Horde are the main villains. The cartoon series plays down his savagery, presumably to make his character more suitable for a children’s audience. At times it even seems as though he may be more human than animal, particularly in the early episode “Beast Island” in which he is competent enough to operate a computer console and command a series of Destructotanks. However, he is far from intelligent and is usually portrayed as a generic bumbling villain, constantly fouling up Hordak’s schemes. Although he appears frequently in the cartoon he has no spotlight roles and is mostly consigned to background
If any of you follow our Toy Habits Instagram page and The Toy Sorceress Instagram page, you will see the Toy Sorceress loves Toy Photography, so here are some photographs for your enjoyment and inspiration! Here you will be able to see the Dark Face Power-Con exclusive version of Grizzlor with his Evil Horde friends!

40th Anniversary Masterverse He-Man Standard Release Stop Motion
As we know, the 40th Anniversary He-Man and Skeletor two pack was released as an SDCC 2022 Exclusive but we have yet to see a produced image of the standard 40th Anniversary He-Man release up until now! This morning we got teased with a short video of 40th Anniversary He-Man battling Skeletor and then they both went into a dimensional portal. What did this mean? Mattel left us with a cliffhanger:
Really, Skeletor?? (More of this adventure to come!) Shoutout to Stuntpuppets for the animation
Since we’ve only seen official images of the standard release of the 40th Anniversary He-Man figure, it is great to see a produced version so we can take a closer look at the details. Our best guess is the standard release is the same as the version that came in the 40th Anniversary He-Man and Skeletor two pack with some differences. For example, the standard release will have plastic weapons (vs. diecast) and plastic loin cloth and boots.
40th Anniversary He-Man Stare
Possible 40th Skeletor Tease Theory
We at Toy Habits are always thinking and we’ve to the conclusion that today was all a 40th Anniversary Skeletor tease. We I think we are going to see what happens on the on the side of that portal and Skeletor knew he wasn’t going to do anything to He-man with his wimpy punch and he was baiting him to follow back through the portal. He’s going to transform from his Revelation version into his classic 40th Anniversary version (we have yet to see) and kick that living daylights out of He-Man. We they used the Revelation Skeletor in this video because it would have been too confusing if they used the 40th Anniversary SDCC version and it would have looked like a promo for that set so they had to do something different. You can clearly see that this was the standard retail release of Anniversary He-Man, but Skeletor is Revelation version with some armor changes and he lost his cape.
You can also see that the intense brown washing has been removed, like in the version that came in the 40th Anniversary He-Man and Skeletor two pack. You can also get a better look at the boots as they have some nice detail to them.

Update to the 40th Anniversary He-Man Figure Design
Mattel originally revealed the 40th Anniversary Masterverse He-Man figure as part of their Mid March 2022 reveal week! This version saw a brown washed version of the figure with official images accompanying it. If you recall, the only photo of the standard release of the 40th Anniversary He-Man figure was from a distorted image of the updated figure, which you can see here:
Head Sculpts
The most notable difference is in the head sculpts between the two figures. The updated version has a different hair color altogether. At first glance, it appears that this is a new hair sculpt but it looks like the lack of brown wash (which we will get to soon) is making it look like it is new but we think it is the camera angle on this updated version that making it look dramatically different. What is different is the actual face sculpt. The nose and eyebrows appear much wider. The mouth also appears to have gone through an update but, again, it is very hard to tell but the result is the same. There is a visual difference between the two that you can’t unsee! As mas_q_motu on Instragram out it: “My humble opinion that head don’t hit nothing on that body, it’s a bad but very bad attempt to combine the new with the vintage, it needs a new sculpt…. It’s a Frankenstein He-Man.” We agree lol!!!

Brown Washing
When the images first surfaced of the 40th Anniversary He-Man, fans said that he looked like he was rolling around in the mud but it appears that the updated version has a clean buck without any washing to it. Although this is a cleaner look to the figure, you do lose a lot of the finer detail that is brought out in the washed version. Which style do you prefer?

8/3/2022 UPDATE: Side Box Art
Hopefully this means the Two-Bad release is right around the corner but @natebaertschart and @manuel_eduardo_caritas shoed everyone the box art they did for the Masterverse Two Bad figure and it looks outstanding! Tuvar and Baddrah have never looked better and the dead eye stare Tuvar has on his face is something only a mother could love. Nate said, “I can’t wait for you all to get the figure in hand and see the rest of Two-Bad’s art, and then rip that figure out and play!!!” We can’t either as this is one of the most anticipated figures we have seen in the Masterverse line.

August 2, 2022 MOTUesday News Roundup
Today, Mattel revealed a Masterverse version of Two-Bad! Now this doesn’t come too much of a surprise to us because we covered this leak in our Masterverse Leaked Figures | Zodac, Galactic Protector He-Man, Two-Bad post back in March where our friends at @canaldosrosmineiros, reported that the new Masterverse figures that would be coming in 2023 included Zodac, Two-Bad, and Galactic Protector He-Man from the New Adventures line! Well, we already got two of the three previously revealed, so that only left Two-Bad to be announced and here he is!
Get ready, because Skeletor has some pretty good “bad” news: We are releasing Two-Bad – Oversized for double the action! It’s Two-Bad’s first appearance in Masterverse and it comes with multiple accessories like vintage mace, armor and “two-headed” axe! #MOTUesday
Two-Bad Masterverse MOTU Reveal Weapons and Accessories
In this new Masterverse figure, Two-Bad sports his classic look with his signature orange armor and a very cool spiked right shoulder armor. Baddrah’s side is a an amazingly sculpted piece showing off the detailed scaled arms and legs with ridges running down the sides. Tuvar is a bit simpler and, like Baddrah, he has a great head sculpt as well. His boot and glove are also very interesting pieces that have an armor-plated look with lots of rivets to hold them together. The rest of his arms and legs, are also all brand new sculpts and unlike any of the other Masterverse figures that have come before them.
Two Bad Masterverse MOTU Weapons Full Figure
Zodac and Two-Bad have not appeared in the Masters of the Universe Revelation Netflix series and with the reveal of the 40th Anniversary He-Man figure, we could see more classic figures in the Masterverse vintage style box coming to the line! Also, with a New Adventures He-Man coming to Masterverse, this blows the doors wide open for this sub line to get built out, similarly to how they created figures in the MOTU Classics line! We’ve only seen single headed figures on the Masterverse buck and it will be amazing to see how they style Two-Bad from a tooling and sculpt perspective in hand!

Masters of the Universe 200x Episode 1 Drops on YouTube
This might have gone unnoticed but Mattel released episode one of the Masters of the Universe 200x series on their Mattel Action Youtube Channel, which we are sure is a delight to fans as this series is loved by many!
MOTU 200x Cartoon Series Added to Mattel Action Youtube Channel
New Adventures of He-Man Cartoon Series Season 1 on Peacock
Today, Mattel announceed that Season 1 (the only season) of the New Adventures of He-Man were available for Peacock subscribers to stream! The season contained 65 epsiodes, which is great because we are not sure how many people actually own the DVD’s so it is nice to have another place to watch!
The New Adventures of He-Man is an animated series released in late 1989. Mattel commissioned the new animated series to accompany their new The New Adventures of He-Man line of toys.
The story continues the adventures of He-Man from the two previous Filmation series: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983) and She-Ra: Princess of Power (1985). The storyline saw He-Man removed from Eternia and into a more heavily sci-fi accented setting, where he continues his battle against Skeletor.
The New Adventures of He-Man opens during the ongoing conflict between the peaceful people of the planet Primus and the war-like Evil Mutants of Denebria. Under constant attack from the Mutants, the leader of Primus, Master Sebrian, looks to the past for a hero who can defend the planet. Sebrian sends two Galactic Guardians – Captain Hydron and Lieutenant Flipshot – to Eternia via time travel, where they are tricked into believing that Skeletor is the hero they seek. Before Skeletor can abscond to the future, He-Man arrives and engages him in battle, forcing Hydron and Flipshot to return to the future with both He-Man and Skeletor in tow.
Once they arrive on Primus, Skeletor quickly allies himself with Flogg and his Mutants, while He-Man becomes the new champion of Primus and its people.
The show was intended to be a continuation of the Filmations series which had ended several years earlier, though the change in production company from Filmation to Jetlag studios resulted in a different animation style and voice cast. The only characters from the classic series who appeared regularly in the show were He-Man, Skeletor and The Sorceress, with King Randor, Queen Marlena and Teela making cameo appearances. The significantly different character designs (to coincide with the new He-Man toyline) and shift from fantasy to sci-fi turned many fans off from the series at the time of its debut.
Despite this, the show had a strong sense of continuity and consistent character development and storytelling, with the majority of episodes and series bible being penned by Jack Olesker. The animation was of a high standard, with a much stronger anime influence. While unpopular with He-Man fans for many years, the show received a much warmer reception when it was released on DVD in 2006.
Though the series was not renewed for a second season, Jack Olesker has gone on record as saying that a second season would have involved He-Man’s return to Eternia.
Mattel found a cute way to get everyone up to speed on the reveals they might have missed during SDCC 2022 so here are the reveals presented by the one and only Skeletor!
