McFarlane releases a new wave of DC Retro The New Adventures of Batman action figures for preorder in their Batman Classic TV Series line. These new wave 9 of figures are based on the animated style of The New Adventures of Batman cartoon series of the 1970s. These new figures harken back to a classic era of Batman and look great. The buck of the figures are based on the McFarlane Batman Classic TV Series line, along with their card backs. The card backs now include “The New Adventures of Batman” logo rather than Batman 66, but are part of the same line of figures. This wave includes Batman, Robin, Batgirl. Commissioner Gordon, Joker and the Riddler.

New Adventures of Batman 1977 Cartoon Series

According to The New Adventures of Batman | Batman Wiki | Fandom

The New Adventures of Batman is the name of an animated television series. It originally premiered February 10, 1977 on CBS. In this series, the “Dynamic Duo” fights crime in Gotham City, encountering the classic Batman rogues gallery as well as some original villains. Complicating matters is Bat-Mite, a well meaning imp from another dimension called Ergo, who considers himself Batman’s biggest fan. As a result, he wears a variant of Batman’s costume and attempts to help him, only to often create more problems (although he is occasionally an asset). Missing is Alfred, the faithful butler of Batman’s alter ego Bruce Wayne; also notable in this series are the inverted colors of the “R” on Robin’s costume.

Batman

First up in this wave is the cape crusader himself, Batman! He comes with a Battarang and a walkie talkie! This is really cool as the previous versions of Batman besides the one in the breather mask did not come with weapons. I really love how they recreated the animated look of Batman.

Official Product Description: From The New Adventures of Batman animated series from the 1970s comes this Batman action figure! The DC Retro Wave 9 Batman The New Adventures of Batman 6-Inch Scale Action Figure stands 6-inches tall with 12 points of articulation. Batman includes a Batarang and Bat-radio. The Caped Crusader comes packaged in a card backed blister with the iconic old school look of the 1960’s Batman series.

A playboy billionaire by day, Bruce Wayne’s double life affords him the comfort of a life without financial worry, a loyal butler-turned-guardian and the perfect base of operations in the ancient network of caves beneath his family’s sprawling estate. By night, however, he sheds all pretense, dons his iconic scalloped cape and pointed cowl and takes to the shadowy streets, skies and rooftops of Gotham City.

Robin

What would the Dynamic Duo be without Robin? Robin is sculpted after his look on The New Adventures of Batman Animated Series. Robin too comes with a blue battarang and walkie talkie.

Official Product Description: From The New Adventures of Batman animated series from the 1970s comes this Robin action figure! The DC Retro Wave 9 Robin The New Adventures of Batman 6-Inch Scale Action Figure stands 5 1/2-inches tall with 12 points of articulation. The Boy Wonder includes a Bat-radio and Batarang. Robin comes packaged in a card backed blister with the iconic old school look of the 1960’s Batman series.

Acrobat Dick Grayson was the youngest member of his parents’ death-defying circus act. But after their cold-blooded murder, Dick vowed revenge. Seeing a genuine piece of himself in the boy, Batman took him in – and gave him a better outlet for his anger. Becoming Batman’s protege, Robin is an expert fighter and astounding acrobat – with the toughest example in the world to live up to. But the Boy Wonder’s true strength may lie in not being Batman – and providing a beacon of hope and family throughout the Dark Knight’s crusade.

Batgirl

It’s amazing that it took so long to get Batgirl in this line of figures, and now we are getting our second version of Batgirl in the animated style. She comes with a small blue bat grappling hook and blue handcuffs.

From The New Adventures of Batman animated series from the 1970s comes this Batgirl action figure! The DC Retro Wave 9 Batgirl The New Adventures of Batman 6-Inch Scale Action Figure stands 5 3/4-inches tall with 12 points of articulation. Barbara Gordon includes a Batarang and Bat-cuffs. Batgirl comes packaged in a card backed blister with the iconic old school look of the 1960’s Batman series.

The mean streets of Gotham City have a number of guardian angels watching over them. And one of the first – the young woman who turned the Dynamic Duo into the Batman family – was Batgirl. Barbara Gordon has always existed between two worlds: her life at home as the only daughter of Police Commissioner James Gordon and her life swinging from gargoyles as an associate of the Dark Knight.

Joker

I have to say that I absolutely love this version of Joker! It represents the way he looked in the New Adventures of Batman animated series but he is also reminiscent of the way he looked when Batman and Robin made a guest appearance on that famous episode of Scooby Doo Where are you, and the Joker shows up! It just brings me back to my childhood and I can’t be happier with this look of Joker!

The Riddler

Ok, I have to say that this version of Riddler threw me for a loop. I don’t remember the Riddler being pink, but upon doing some research, sure enough Riddler was animated in a pink outfit in the New Adventures of Batman series of the 1970s. He comes with his signature question mark staff.

Official Product Description:

From The New Adventures of Batman animated series from the 1970s comes this Riddler action figure! The DC Retro Wave 9 The Riddler The New Adventures of Batman 6-Inch Scale Action Figure stands 6-inches tall with 12 points of articulation. He includes his signature question mark cane. The Riddler comes packaged in a card backed blister with the iconic old school look of the 1960’s Batman series.

Possessing a genius-level intellect, the Riddler creates elaborate, sometimes Rube Goldberg-esque traps, and is even willing to use innocent civilians as bait. Although not physically imposing, the Riddler’s brilliance, neurosis and lack of empathy make him an incredibly dangerous foe. He cares very little – if at all – about the lives of those he uses in his plots and instead only sees them as disposable pawns in his continuing intellectual battle against Batman.
