Described as a mild-mannered sports coupe that transforms into a jet-propelled aircraft armed with destructive ordnance, this piece of engineering wizardry is inching closer to reality, and I can’t wait to see it in collectors’ hands and in person at New York Comic Con 2025. This latest test shot highlights the continued refinement of the vehicle, as Ramen Toy has stated that there are still some areas they are improving for fit and function. One thing you’ll notice right away is the difference in colors between the doors and the body, but don’t worry, that’s just a preproduction sample and will not be in the final release. It’s always a thrill to follow along with these developmental updates, as we get a behind-the-scenes look at how a complex vehicle like this evolves from prototype to final form. The Mobula vehicle looks sharp in hand as you can see the rocket launcher system deployed from the hood. The transforming parts fold out into wing extensions on the sides and rear, giving it that jet-propelled aircraft vibe from the cartoon. The clear windows reveal a detailed interior, which really brings the model to life when viewed up close.
From the back you can really appreciate the engineering that went into the Mobula, with the standard tail lights and bumper design flipping to reveal the hidden jet thrusters. The panels swing open cleanly to expose the turbine detail inside, showing how the sleek coupe form transforms into a powerful aircraft mode. It’s a clever execution that blends the retro car look with functional transformation parts.
Ace also gave fans what they wanted in the form of a spring loaded mechanism that deploys the jets, which you can see (and hear) in the video below! The deployment sounds as good as it looks! Ka-CHUNK!
The underside of the Mobula reveals all the tucked-away mechanics, with the folding turbine parts, wheels, and panels neatly integrated to keep the car mode streamlined. You can spot the detailed sculpting of the exhaust and engine components molded into the base, showing the attention to detail. From the top view, the car locks back into a clean, seamless coupe form, hiding the transformation elements while keeping that sleek purple and blue finish intact.
The Mobula packs in some clever extras, like the removable seat that doubles as a mini escape seat complete with sculpted thrusters underneath. On the front end, the car can deploy twin spinning saw blades that are an homage to the cartoon appearance, adding to its arsenal of transforming weaponry.
