I finally got the MOTU Core 2026 Movie Skeletor in hand and I have to say, having already reviewed the Core Alcala Skeletor earlier this year, I was genuinely psyched to see how Mattel would translate the movie design into this same 5.5-inch scale format. That Alcala figure set a real bar for what this Core line could do with a classic character, and seeing the 2026 film take on Skeletor sitting next to it on my shelf right now is one of those full circle moments where everything just clicks. The movie design leans into something darker and more imposing, and even at this smaller scale and price point, the sculpt does a solid job capturing what we have seen so far from the film’s aesthetic. He comes with his staff, which fits naturally in hand, and the articulation is in line with what we have come to expect from the Core figures. At its price point, this is an easy pickup, and for collectors who are building out both the classic and movie sides of the line, having this version of Skeletor alongside the Alcala interpretation really highlights just how much range Mattel is pulling from with this format. This one hit for me, and I am really happy with how it turned out. Huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending this Skeletor MOTU Core 2026 Movie Figure over for review, and if he has been on your must have list, you can still grab him now at Big Bad Toy Store.

Packaging

The front of the card features painted artwork of Skeletor with a fiery orange and purple color scheme, while the back showcases illustrations of Skel-Knight and Mekaneck alongside a character bio with stat bars for Strength, Combat, Magic, Intelligence, and Evil. Skeletor’s Magic, Intelligence, and Evil stats are all maxed out or near full, with Combat trailing slightly behind and Strength rated the lowest of the five but they are still up there!

Figure Details

Skeletor’s front and back are shown here, giving a full overview of the figure before we get into the finer details. The purple armor, hooded soft goods cloak, and light blue skin make up the core color palette, with the cloak covering nearly the entire back of the figure and featuring a braided seam running down the spine that ends in a ragged, tattered hemline.

The skull sculpt has incredible detail up close, with fine cracks etched across the bone, individually sculpted teeth, and those small red beady eyes peering out from deep black sockets. The purple soft goods hood frames the face perfectly, and the front of the cloak drapes over his chest with textured folds and a circular medallion featuring a small red gem at its center, all super detailed for a $10 figure.

The loin armor on Skeletor is packed with sculpted detail, featuring layered pointed tabs each stamped with small circular emblems and a central buckle shaped like a fanged skull with curling tendrils radiating outward. His forearm guards carry the same purple tone with deeply etched organic texturing that wraps around each arm, complementing the ornate waist piece nicely.

The boots on Skeletor are just as detailed as the rest of the figure, with heavy wrinkled leather sculpting across the foot and deeply textured knee guards that have a rough, rocky surface to them. The tattered cloak hangs just above the boot line with jagged, torn edges, and they really did not skimp on any of the lower half here.

The Havoc Staff is the only accessory Skeletor comes with, and he doesn’t even get a Power Sword. The staff itself has a nice metallic silver finish on the shaft, with a ram skull topper featuring curling dark horns and small blue gems for eyes.

The ram skull topper on the Havoc Staff has a nice bone-white finish with deeply sculpted ridges along the snout and brow, and the two curling horns carry a dark metallic silver with pronounced ribbed texture running their full length. Two small blue gems are set into the skull, one on the forehead and one at the tip of the nose, adding a pop of color against the muted tones.

Skeletor looks great posed with the Havoc Staff held across his body, the metallic silver shaft contrasting nicely against his light blue skin and purple hooded cloak. The small orange gem on his chest armor catches the eye, and that skull face sculpt with its deep-set black eyes and yellowed bone tone is really solid.

Skeletor is posed with his arms spread wide, showing off a solid range of motion at the shoulders and elbows. These Core figures aren’t as poseable as the Chronicles releases given they’re $10 a pop, but at this price point they still look great on a shelf.
