Fresh off the wire, McFarlane Toys has pulled back the curtain on a massive new DC Multiverse 2-pack that pairs Superman against Mongul in a set drawn straight from the Return of Superman storyline, and this one is shaping up to be a seriously impressive package for DC collectors. The Superman vs Mongul 2-pack includes a 7″ scale Superman figure alongside a Mega Figure Mongul, both loaded with Ultra Articulation featuring up to 22 moving parts for full dynamic posing, and the accessory count here is nothing to overlook either, with 4 extra hands, a bandolier, 2 weapons, figure display bases, and 2 collectible art cards complete with character biographies. The set is rooted in that classic storyline where Superman has to fight his way out of imprisonment on Warworld under the new Mongul’s rule, which is a deep cut that DC fans have been wanting to see represented in plastic for a long time. Priced at $79.99, this one goes up for preorder during Walmart Collector Con at 7am PT / 10am ET as a Walmart exclusive window, and then starting at 9am PT it opens up at Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth, and the McFarlane website as well, so collectors will have multiple shots at locking one down. I love how McFarlane keeps mining these pivotal DC arcs for their Multiverse line because it gives us figures that actually tell a story on the shelf. This is one I’d recommend setting an alarm for, because between the Walmart Collector Con rush and the broader retailer rollout, things could move fast.
