Tricera Bashasaurus Driver Masters of Universe Origins Concept
It’s pretty apparent that Mattel has stalled or halted production of vehicles for the Masters of the Universe Origins line. They’ve teased the Bashasaurus several times on card art and, most recently, the Eternia playset box art, but it’s unknown if we are getting this vehicle in the line. As it is unlikely that the Bashasaurus will see the light of day, kenzos__creations has translated the Bashasaurus vehicle into figure form with his outstanding Tricera Masters of the Universe Origins concept. To keep up with the latest from Kenzo and his amazing creations, be sure to follow him on Instagram and also subscribe his YouTube channel! Before we dive into the figure, let’s check out the Tricera bio from the unofficial Masters of the Universe Classics bios!

As the MOTU Classics bio states, “The Bashasaurus was one of several attack transports recreated by Man-At-Arms from ancient schematics created in the Age of the Ancients. Bashasaurus, an improvement on his own Bashin-Beetle creation, included a Bashin’ Boulder made of a rare mineral that could pulverize solid stone. Similar to the Dragon Walker, the Bashasaurus incorporated biological material, specifically from the extinct cyborg dinosaurs of Preternia, which had been stored safely in Castle Grayskull for millenia. Despite its technological nature, the Bashasaurus became sentient and rejected many attempted operators until Tricera, an alien Saurian with an acerbic wit and highly skilled mechanic, came to Eternos to apprehend the criminal Terrordon. Barely tolerant of “clumsy” human engineers, Tricera easily calmed the rampaging Bashasaurus and turned its wrath upon the evil warriors of Skeletor. She later helped organize the Fighting Foe Men as new allies of He-Man!”

Tricera MOTU Origins Concept
Kenzo’s Tricera concept is absolutely stellar from head-to-toe! From the integration of 3D printed parts, MOTU Origins parts, and the genius idea to repurpose Trap Jaw’s arm, recolor it orange, he created a living breathing version of the Bashasaurus. The color palet is spot on as he used red for the main body, orange for the arm, and his blue chest armor ties into the blue that you can find on the vehicle. Kenzo also sent us behind the scenes images to show how the figure came together and also the inspiration that he used for the classic sticker on his chest.

Let’s start from the top and work our way down! The head sculpt comes from Tavin3D as he originally called his creation, “Smashasaurus.” Kenzo applied his mad painting skills to the head sculpt as you can see it take shape.

Tavin3D’s work is available on Cults3D and he said, “Custom head and weapon for MOTU Origins Trapjaw. Own modeling inspired by an illustration from the MOTU Ideas, which made an anthropomorphic version of the bashasaurus vehicle”

According to Kenzo, the head and boulder also came fro Tavin3D as the pieces were designed to go together. Kenzo used Trap Jaw’s arm and painted it orange to match the arm of the Bashasaurus. The boulder attaches to the arm and, viola, you have an arm that pays homage to the vehicle.

Here is an up close look at the boulder and the way that is painted, it still retains all of the detail from the 3D print. He also used Cartoon Collection Clawful’s buck for the body, which was a great choice!

Here are some behind the scenes images and it’s cool to see how figure takes shape. The inspiration for the chest sticker comes from the Bashasaurus itself! Kenzo had the great idea to pay homage to the Heroic Combat Vehicle by translating the sticker found on the vehicle to a sticker, which also pays homage to Faker in its execution.

Bashasaurus Card Art Teases and History
The Bashasaurus has been teased three times on card art and box art, with the most recent being on the box art for the Eternia playset.

Previous Card Art Teases
Once again, Roy and team knocked it out of the park as we see Dragon Blaster Skeletor spraying his venomous spray toward Thunder Punch He-Man who is attacking riding in the Bashasaurus! And by Dragon Blaster Skeletor’s side is Two Bad making his 3 card art appearance! You will also notice a couple of playful dinosaurs in the background! Is this a hint that we are develaing into Preternia and the Powers of Grayskull line soon? Also, one of the dinos have his ribs exposed, could that be a tease for Battle Bones?

If you blinked you might have missed the Bashasaurus tease lurking in the background on Roboto’s card art.

The box art features Battle Armor He-Man in the driver’s seat and the it shows you that you can press a button and the ball swing forward and we hope that action figure is retained because what would be the point if they left out that? It would be like leaving the rip stick feature of of the Road Ripper (aka Ground Ripper)…oh wait…they did that lol.

The Bashasaurus is a vehicle from the Masters of the Universe toyline and related franchise. It is adorned with a spiked head and has a huge mace that can “bash” obstacles and enemy vehicles.
