September 8, 2025 Update: Transformation Video

Huge thanks to Toy Habits Crew Member Rob2023 for the heads up that Cybertron 21 on FaceBook has posted an Ultra Magnus transformation video via Hobby Watch YouTube!

Transformation Images

Another really exciting part of this is that we now have an actual transformation video to check out, which makes the experience feel so much more real. Seeing the Missing Link C-10 with Deerstalker go through its motions on screen gives us a preview of not just how the engineering works, but also how the figure will look and feel once it’s in our hands and on our shelves. Transformation videos really bring the product to life in a way that static images can’t, letting us anticipate the tactile experience of flipping through each step and reliving that classic G1 magic with modern updates. You can view the video above and we also captured some screenshots!

These shots demonstrate how the inner Optimus Prime core buck figure fits into Ultra Magnus’s larger armored body. The process shows the cab robot being positioned securely within the chest cavity, while the armor panels and components close around it.

This image shows Ultra Magnus fully combined in his armored robot mode!

These images highlight the simplicity of Deerstalker’s transformation, starting out in his compact buggy mode and then shifting into the early stages of his robot form. You can see how the front of the buggy lifts and pivots to begin forming the upper half of the figure, capturing that classic straightforward G1-style engineering It’s a clean, no-fuss process that really taps into that nostalgic feel of flipping parts into place, and it’s great to get a closer look at how Deerstalker transitions between modes. This type of transformation is more on my level lol.

These next stages in the sequence show the flipping out of panels and wheels, leading to the completed smaller bot mode, which is displayed alongside a silver pilot figure for scale.

Official Images

Official images are now live, giving a full look at the figure in all its blocky red, white, and blue glory. It features a classic design with a helmeted head sculpt, smokestack details on the shoulders, large blaster rifles, and chunky legs with sticker detailing that stay true to the original aesthetic.

Here we get a great look at Ultra Magnus in both his modes, showing off his classic white cab that transforms into a car carrier decked out in blue and red armor, complete with twin missile launchers mounted up top. In robot mode, he’s towering and blocky, keeping that signature G1 look with his bold red chest, white fists, and blue armored limbs. The sculpt captures those vintage details, from the panel lines to the chest plate, while the included rifle adds that extra punch to his display.

Here we get to see the full versatility of the figure, with the car carrier breaking down into multiple play modes like a mobile command base and even a launch platform for jets. The trailer unfolds with ramps, missile launchers, and support struts. The white cab is fully detachable, transforming separately while still hauling the trailer when combined. Spread out are all the accessories, including red missiles on a sprue, the blue chest plate, head sculpt, a small silver pilot figure, and the Matrix of Leadership.

These shots break down how the figure converts from cab and trailer into the full armored robot, showing each step of the transformation process. You can see how the red and blue armor wraps around the inner white cab to create that bulky Ultra Magnus look. The articulation is highlighted here too, with movable arms, head rotation, and leg adjustments for posing. There’s also a peek at the opening chest compartment that reveals the Matrix of Leadership, adding another layer of detail and play value. Side by side with the original 1986 toy, the updates stay true to the vintage design while giving it more functionality.

Here’s a closer look at the long-rumored Deerstalker figure. It converts from a small blue armored buggy, complete with a cockpit for the silver pilot figure, into a blocky robot armed with a large white rifle. The car mode has chunky wheels and a simple, angular design, while the robot mode carries over those same shapes into a classic, almost prototype-style look. This is a cool deep-cut addition that finally gives collectors a physical version of a piece of Transformers history.

Missing Link Ultra Magnus and Deerstalker Tokyo Toy Show Reveal

What’s shown here alongside the Missing Link Ultra Magnus (C-10) is Deerstalker, a nod back to the original Diaclone Powered Convoy release that predated Ultra Magnus in the Transformers line. The unpainted prototype highlights Magnus’ classic armored frame with tall shoulder stacks, heavy chest plating, and detailed panel sculpting. Including the Deerstalker is a deep-cut homage that connects this modern Missing Link figure directly to its Diaclone roots.

In this close-up of the Missing Link Ultra Magnus prototype, we get a sneak peek at what appears to be his Matrix of Leadership tucked inside the chest cavity. Even though the figure is unpainted, you can spot the familiar circular detailing peeking through the open gap, hinting that Magnus will feature this iconic element as part of his design.

The Ultra Buggy, seen here with the Missing Link Ultra Magnus prototype, traces back to the original Diaclone Powered Convoy set released in Japan before Transformers was created. Designed as a small auxiliary vehicle that could launch from the trailer and carry a Diaclone driver, it added an extra layer of playability to the set. When Powered Convoy was rebranded into Ultra Magnus for the Transformers line in 1986, the buggy was omitted, making it a forgotten relic of the pre-Transformers era. Its inclusion here is a deep homage to that Diaclone heritage, finally giving Ultra Magnus a piece of history that never made it into the Transformers G1 line.
