Roboto MOTU Origins Movie Deluxe Figure Discovered
Breaking out of nowhere, we have a discovery that I absolutely did not see coming, and I love it when the hobby throws us a surprise like this. Massive thanks to @doctorgrumbles on Instagram for flagging this one, because a MOTU Origins Movie Deluxe Roboto has surfaced and it caught pretty much everyone off guard. This figure popped up on eBay from, well, a certain seller’s smurf account that seasoned collectors will recognize, and while it hasn’t been officially announced by Mattel, the packaging and figure are right there for all to see. From the photos floating around, the box alone tells you this is going to be a big boy, and I mean that literally because he looks MASSIVE, which is exactly what you want from a Deluxe release of a character like Roboto. What makes this even more exciting is the context of the MOTU Origins Movie line so far, which has leaned heavily toward the Evil Warriors side of the aisle with Spikor, Beast Man, Trap Jaw, and Tri-Klops all already accounted for alongside He-Man and Man-At-Arms on the heroic side. Getting Roboto as the next heroic warrior to join the ranks feels like a welcome shift in the balance, and it’s the kind of deep cut pick that shows Mattel isn’t just playing it safe with obvious choices for this sub-line. The Origins Movie roster now sits at seven figures strong, and with Teela having been teased on the Fright Fighter box art, there’s real hope she could be next in the pipeline. For now though, feast your eyes on what might be one of the most unexpected additions to the Origins Movie line yet, and I can’t wait to see more details on this one as official intel rolls in.
MOTU Origins Movie Roboto
The box front displays striking artwork of Roboto in a powerful stance with blue energy crackling from his fists, set against a stone stairway backdrop with Eternian architecture crumbling around him. Through the window, the figure sits in a generous-sized tray that really shows off the scale of this deluxe release, with his translucent torso panel and metallic blue armor catching the light nicely.

The back of the box features dramatic artwork of Roboto in a full sprint, being pursued by Hover Bots against a fiery Eternian skyline with Castle Grayskull looming in the distance. Two inset callout images at the bottom show off the plug-in cannon attachments for his arms, hinting at some solid play features packed into what is clearly a massive figure.

The side panel artwork features a close-up of Roboto’s helmeted head, with glowing blue accents across the visor and a deep purple and blue color palette that gives the illustration a cinematic feel.
