Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats HOOOOO! The One:12 Collective Lion-O is finally being shown in person and boy are we thrilled! I can’t be more excited about this one. Lion-O has always been one of those characters that just means everything to fans of the franchise, and seeing Mezco bring their signature One:12 treatment to the Lord of the ThunderCats is super exciting. The sculpt, the outfit, the Sword of Omens, it all looks incredible from what we’re seeing in these booth images. I just love how Mezco captures that classic toon energy while layering in the detailed real-world fabric and accessories that make the One:12 line so special. This is going to look amazing on the shelf next to any ThunderCats collection, and I really hope we get to see more of the ThunderCats roster join Lion-O down the road. Lion-O’s blue leotard has a large cutout across the chest area, and the contrast between the bright blue fabric and the warm brown skin tone underneath gives the figure a classic cartoon-accurate look. His boots are a deeper blue with white trim at the top, matching the color scheme of his outfit perfectly. This was a painted prototype on display, so keep in mind that he should come with a soft goods outfit when he is finally produced.

Outfitted with his blue leotard and the Claw Shield, Lion-O looks like he just stepped out of Third Earth, and this prototype is a promising first look at what Mezco has coming. I noticed that his fists have individually sculpted fingers wrapped tight, with subtle knuckle definition and small creases at the wrist joint that keep the hands from looking generic.

The Sword of Omens looks fantastic, with a silver metallic finish on the long blade and an ornate crossguard housing the iconic red Eye of Thundera gem. Lion-O’s face sculpt has a sharp, determined expression framed by a wild mane of orange hair with individually sculpted strands that sweep back with real volume and texture.

Here’s a closer look at the Sword of Omens’ crossguard, which features a layered silver sculpt with small gem-like details running down the grip and curved blade-like wings flanking the Eye of Thundera. Lion-O’s shoulder straps have a clean blue with slightly raised edges where they connect to the leotard, and the warm orange tones of his skin carry subtle shading that adds depth across his arms and collarbone.

You can see how the lavender-blue boots taper into a smooth, rounded toe shape, almost slipper-like, which nails that vintage cartoon aesthetic. The white trim at the top of each boot mirrors the belt buckle’s border, and it’s nice to see that kind of color coordination carry through all the way down the figure.

Lion-O’s face really comes through here, with those heavy brow ridges and sharp, angular features that feel pulled right from the animation cels. The Claw Shield’s sculpted silver detail on his fist adds a nice bit of texture against the warm tones of his skin, and I’m really digging how the Sword of Omens’ proportions look in relation to the figure’s scale.

Here’s a closer look at the Claw Shield from the side, and it’s a chunky, clear translucent piece with cylindrical chambers molded into the gauntlet that wrap around Lion-O’s fist. I like how the transparency lets you see the sculpted mechanical detail inside, almost like a functioning contraption strapped over his knuckles.

A close-up reveals the subtle texture work across Lion-O’s leotard, where a fine fabric-like weave pattern covers the blue material, giving it a cloth-like quality distinct from the smoother plastic of his skin. His mane sweeps dramatically to one side with layered, flame-like sculpting that adds real volume to the head sculpt, and you can just make out the red cat’s eye on his forehead tucked beneath those heavy brows.

A detail that stands out to me is how Lion-O’s eyebrows are sculpted as sharp, almost fang-like black accents that sweep upward into points, perfectly complementing the orange cat-slit irises underneath. His muzzle area transitions from a warm golden tone around the cheeks to a pale, almost cream-colored chin, and that gradient sells the feline quality of the character without going overboard.

The sculpt on Lion-O’s profile shows just how angular and defined his jawline is, with a strong chin that juts forward and tight lines running along his neck where the tendons connect to the collarbone. His red-orange hair has a matte finish that contrasts with the slightly glossy surface of his skin, and those sharp, swept-back strands near the temple blend seamlessly into the larger mane behind his head.

A close-up reveals the incredible depth in Lion-O’s eyes, where those orange cat-slit irises sit inside heavily lined, almost kohl-rimmed sockets with layered dark blue outlines that give them an intense, almost painted-on quality true to the original animation style. The pores and fine grain texture across his cheeks and bridge of the nose add a tactile, almost stonelike quality to the warm golden skin that you really only appreciate at this magnification.
