Cowabunga! We’ve got some really cool news for TMNT fans today. Huge thanks to @msmithtmnt for posting these images! It looks like Playmates is reissuing the 1988 Remastered Turtles as individual single packs, and from what we can see, these new versions appear to feature smooth skin instead of the rougher texture from the original remastered release. If you missed out on the six-pack or just want to grab your favorite Turtle on their own, this could be a super exciting second chance. It also looks like Playmates may have addressed some of the issues collectors noticed with the first run, which is always great to see a company listening to the community. So let’s take a look at the Playmates 1988 Remastered Single Packs!
Here’s a look at all four Turtles in their single-pack packaging, and the big news is that smooth skin texture that previously only came with the 5-pack release. Each figure sports a distinct color-coded bandana and matching knee and elbow pads, with Michelangelo in orange, Raphael in red, Donatello in purple, and Leonardo in blue, all set against those classic card-art illustrations that hit right in the nostalgia.

Here’s a closer look at Raphael in his 1988 Remastered packaging, and he comes loaded with accessories. A pair of sais, a grappling hook, throwing stars, and what looks like a kama and a knife all surround him in the tray, along with his signature black belt sporting that red “R” buckle front and center.

Donatello’s 1988 Remastered packaging shows him with a solid accessory spread of his own, including a bo staff, a flail with a sculpted chain, and what appears to be a grappling hook weapon with a purple-wrapped handle. His plastron has a rich yellow with black harness straps crossing over it, and those purple wraps on his wrists and knees tie everything back to his signature color nicely.

Leonardo’s 1988 Remastered packaging reveals an impressive arsenal, with twin katanas featuring blue-wrapped hilts, a large silver sai-like trident weapon, throwing stars, and what looks like a grappling hook with a black handle. I like how his blue mask, knee pads, and elbow wraps all coordinate with the blue accents on his accessories, tying the whole presentation together.

Michelangelo’s 1988 Remastered card keeps the same layout as his brothers, and he comes packed with a full ninja toolkit, including nunchucks with orange-wrapped handles connected by sculpted chains, a kusarigama, a grappling hook, a silver kunai-style blade, and a pair of throwing stars. His orange mask, knee pads, and wrist wraps pop against the deep green of his skin, and that black belt with the yellow “M” buckle keeps his identity front and center.
