MOTU Origins Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure Wave 1 Listings
While following up on Mattel’s Masters of the Universe reveals from SDCC 2026, we found the first retailer listings for Wave 1 of the MOTU Origins Retro Cardback Build-A-Figure assortment. Deep Discount has published listings for Beast Man, He-Man, and Battle Armor Man-At-Arms, confirming the same three-figure lineup Mattel showed during its SDCC 2026 panel. The listings also give us a tentative availability date and product identifiers for each figure, which is the first concrete retail information we have seen for the wave. Mattel displayed the figures and the larger Retro Cardback assortment at SDCC, which we covered with the other SDCC 2026 booth reveals, but one important detail is still missing. The Shadow Beast is the Build-A-Figure for Wave 1, although neither Mattel’s presentation nor these listings tells us which Shadow Beast parts will be packed with Beast Man, He-Man, and Battle Armor Man-At-Arms. Deep Discount and Pop Market share the same parent company, so we expect the listings to appear on Pop Market as well, but they have not shown up there yet.

Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure
Here’s a look at the completed Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure that Mattel showed at SDCC. We now know the first wave will include pieces needed to build Shadow Beast, although the listings don’t reveal which parts will come with He-Man, Beast Man and Battle Armor Man-At-Arms just yet. The finished figure is pretty massive, with a fully fur-covered purple body, spiked armor and a large mace.

Shadow Beast Build-A-Figure Wave 1 Listings
The listing identifies Battle Armor Man-At-Arms with product ID JPM07 and UPC 194735410750, while December 30, 2026 is given as a tentative available date.

Battle Armor Man-At-Arms gives the character a pretty dramatic new look, with the familiar green skin paired with a large brown armored chest piece and blue helmet. There’s definitely some familiar Origins tooling here, but the new armor does a lot to change the figure. He also comes armed with a mace and a translucent blue shield.

Beast Man’s listing supplies product ID JPM06 and UPC 194735410675, though the December 30, 2026 available date should be treated as tentative.

This version of Beast Man is based on his appearance in the vintage MOTU cardback artwork, and I love seeing Mattel dig that deep into the original line for inspiration. The bright red fur armor and huge spiked shoulder pieces immediately separate him from the standard Origins Beast Man, while the orange body and blue trunks keep the familiar vintage colors underneath. He’s also carrying a long black whip.

He-Man rounds out the known Wave 1 listings with product ID JPM05 and UPC 194735410736.

He-Man is another figure pulled directly from the vintage cardback artwork, giving us an Origins figure based on the illustrations that helped define the original MOTU line. The silver harness, brown trunks, orange belt and boots recreate that early illustrated look, which is quite a bit different from the He-Man figure we usually see in Origins. He’s shown with his Power Sword and shield, completing the cardback-inspired version of the character.
