Concept Fright Zone MOTU Origins Los Amigos Convention 2025 Tease

The amazing Mega CustomX, along with @art_of_eternia and @lovelyevilhorde, are working on something very special for the Los Amigos 2025 Convention! With the reveal of the MOTU Origins Sketchbook Series Evil-Horde 2-Pack featuring Hordak and Grizzlor, we saw an easter egg of the concept Fright Zone and it appears that this might be this years Los Amigos 2025 Convention exclusive! If you recall, last year, created the Fang-Or and Reptilax Weapons Pack as the Los Amigos 2024 Convention exclusive so this is exciting news! It is highly unlikely that Mattel will be making a concept Fright Zone for their newly revealed MOTU Origins Sketchbook Series so we can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Fright Zone Concept Easter Egg

In a magnificent piece of art, illustrated by fetch.franciscoetchart, we can see a battle scene in front of the concept Fright Zone that features Hordak and Grizzlor as he trys to take a piece out of He-Man. In the Fright Zone holding cell, can see an early version of Skeletor clutching the bars as he looks on.

He also showed off a tease of the digital render for the monster in the Fright Zone and it looks outstanding!

Fright Zone Concept

Back in 1983, Ed Watts illustrated what was then called a “Villain Playset” as Mattel was interested in developing a trap-filled playset. In the artwork, you can see the idea of a giant beast and the concept of imprisoning a figure in a cage, which were the focal points of the concept. It is highly unlikely that we will see a concept playset come to the line but it is great to see the history and evolution. The giant beast was eventually turned into a hand puppet and the playset eventually evolved into the Fright Zone we know today!
