Get ready to relive the power and the nostalgia, because Roy Juarez ( plus axel.gimenez, dc_alonso_colorist, and katanarama333, just revealed the packaging for the Masters of the Universe Origins Retro Punching He-Man and Skeletor 2-pack, and it’s a true blast from the past! In celebration of Mattel’s 80th Anniversary, Roy Juarez and the packaging team have knocked it out of the park once again, showcasing these iconic characters in all their vintage glory. We got a teaser of the packaging yesterday, and looked to be a very unique design so it’s great to see what the designs actually look like. This Retro Punching He-Man and Skeletor MOTU Origins set, which went up for preorder on April 4, 2025, features retro-style 5.5-inch He-Man and Skeletor figures with the classic twist-and-punch action that defined the original line so let’s dive into the delicious packaging!

The packaging design is amazing as it really harkens back to the vintage figures with the added bonus of having this very cool display piece!

A closer hi-res look at the inside of the packaging!

The inside panels have extra illustrations of He-Man and Skeletor, which add to the displayability to this great set!

And now we get a beautiful look at each of the illustrations! I love how the art team paid homage to the vintage art style commonly found on promotional items from the 1980’s!

Here we can see the two card back packages found within. They are on collector friendly blister cards, so you can slip the whole cover off and replace the figure back inside to be displayed again.

The rear of the card backs have stunning artwork that is the same found on the back of the box art. Also you can see the slip cover better from the back here.

Here are some shots of the box with Skeletor and He-Man battling out in front of Castle Grayskull with Man-At-Arms in the scene! Complete with vintage-style “squishy” heads, these figures are lovingly sculpted with original articulation and come loaded with accessories—from He-Man’s power sword, shield, and axe to Skeletor’s signature havoc staff and dual sword combo that can merge into the classic Power Sword! You can even see an illustration of their squishy head feature.

Target has put up the Retro Punching He-Man and Skeletor MOTU Origins 80th Anniversary 2-Pack for preorder. This nostalgic Masters of the Universe Origins 2-pack celebrates the 80th Anniversary of Mattel and really packs a punch, with retro-style He-Man and Skeletor figures with punching action! A classic hero versus villain pack, the figures are designed at 5.5-inch scale with their original articulation and vintage-style “squishy” heads. The fun-filled “twist and punch” movements on both set them up for epic good vs. evil battles. Skeletor comes with a sword, havoc staff and removable chest and skirt armor. He-Man has a sword, a shield and an axe, and removable signature chest harness. The two swords can combine to create a Power Sword! Two vintage mini-comics included. FYI…Target has the name wrong but we are sure they will fix this.

The Masters of the Universe line is going back to it’s roots and kicking it old school with their reveal of a vintage style He-Man and Skeletor 2-Pack. According to yo_tengo_el_poder, “Rumors were there about a double pack with replica figures of vintage He-Man and Skeletor and we can confirm it on display at the Toyfair.” These figures look amazing and really harken back to their vintage roots where it all started! For our wallets sake, we hope this is not a trend and it’s just a one-off pack that commemorates Evil Lord of Destruction and The Most Powerful Man in the Universe. As the figures are a throw back to 1980’s and pay homage to them, the paint apps are updated and really make the figures come to life! Here is the official description of the figures:
