Thanks to lucky collector Carlos D Caceres, looks like Series 5 of the WWE Superstars are hitting California! The Walmart Exclusive WWE Series 5 figures, which include The Rock, Macho Man Randy Savage, Earthquake, and Ravishing Rick Rude! It also seems that there are some cross over from Series 4 and Series 5, as our very own Toy Sorceress (writing this article) has gotten a hold of Mr. T and Macho Man Randy Savage, which if you look at the cross sell on the card backs of those, it shows the Rock and Macho Man Randy Savage as part of Series 4. But now we get photos of Earthquake and Ravishing Rick Rude which shows the cross sell to also include The Rock and Macho Man Randy Savage as part of Series 5. So this part of the Series are a mystery. If you want to see the complete review Smackdown of Mr.T vs. Macho Man Randy Savage, check out our WWE Superstars Mr. T versus Macho Man Randy Savage Review article! We don’t yet have In Hand images of the Rock, but as soon as we do, we will be sure to update you.

Ravishing Rick Rude

Rick Rude, who was announced at SDCC 2022, will be joining Series 5 so let’s check out the official images found on WWE.com! Mattel even captured the smug look on his face, which was a common expression as his gimmick was a chauvinistic, arrogant man that often out the crowd down as he undressed out of his entrance attire. Rude as was also known for wearing elaborate, long robes to the ring as he performed a mock strip tease as he took it off so it will be great to see what his robe, if they include one) looks like in the coming months.

It is very apropos that Mattel decided to use Rick Rude’s wrestling tights from his Intercontinental Title Match with the Ultimate Warrior from Wrestlemania 5. What made this ring attire so special was it was Rude’s first and only IC title win in WWE history. Rude was known for creating special tights when he wrestled against various opponents and for this pair of tights, he included the IC Title on the front and an illustration of the Ultimate warrior on the back.

Earth Quake

Earthquake, also announced at SDCC 2022, will be a part of Series 5! It is amazing to see Mattel adding their first tag team to the WWE Superstars line and it is an intersting choice (on the surface) that they chose the Earthquake as one of the first wrestlers. Actually, the Earthquake was part of a very successful tag team with Typhoon (featured below) so the opening salvo makes total sense! They did create the NWO faction with Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hollywood Hogan as they wrestled as tag teams in the WCW but we have our first official WWF tag team! Because this line features the use of soft goods, we are expecting the black, red, and white ring attire to be soft goods to reveal Earthquakes singles competition in blue. He looks like he will also come with an extra set of set boots and kneepads so you can remove them and swap them out for both looks. They have also introduced a new figure buck to the line as not everyone has 20 pack abs lol. The only way Mattel can pull off both looks is make a one piece soft goods leotard as the figure would look odd with just a tank top and blue trunks.

One of the cooler aspects of Earthquake’s figure is that he can strip down his his original Earthquake character in the blue and you can dress him up in his soft goods to form 1/2 of the Natural Disasters tag team.

Macho Man Randy Savage

Born Randall Mario Poffo, better known by his ring name “Macho Man” Randy Savage, was a professional wrestler who achieved prominence in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and later World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Savage is known to wrestling fans and non-fans alike for his distinctively deep, husky voice and his trademark loud, drawn-out cry of “Ohhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!”, made even more popular by a series of Slim Jim ads. For much of his tenure in the WWF, he was managed by Miss Elizabeth, to whom he was married on December 30, 1984. TMZ reported that “Macho Man” Randy Savage died in a car accident in Florida 20 May 2011 morning. TMZ spoke to Savage’s brother, Lanny Poffo, who revealed that Savage had suffered a fatal heart attack whilst driving his car in Tampa, which caused him to lose control and crash into a tree.

The Macho Man’s card art pays homage to Randy Savage as he is clad in his 1988 robe that he wore on Saturday Night’s Main Event! He is most famous for this slogan “Dig it,” which he would often use as a filler word during his promos!

Macho Man Randy Savage History

According to the WWE:

Few Superstars were as dynamic as “Macho Man” Randy Savage. His style — perfectly punctuated by his entrance music, “Pomp and Circumstance” — was only outshined by his performances in the ring, which led him to two WWE Championships, four WCW World Championships and a 14-month reign as Intercontinental Champion. Born Randy Poffo, son of wrestling Legend Angelo Poffo, Macho Man almost chose Major League Baseball over World Wrestling Entertainment. Poffo was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as a catcher after graduating high school. After years developing in the minor leagues, a collision at home plate caused an injury to his throwing arm, ending his baseball career.

Joining WWE in June 1985, Macho Man made such an impact that his services were in demand by the various managers in WWE at that time. But Savage introduced a young woman named Elizabeth to accompany him to the ring and manage him. With the First Lady of Wrestling as his manager, the Superstar’s first major achievement was reaching the finals of a one-night tournament, as part of the Wrestling Classic pay-per-view event in November 1985. The following February, after a lengthy rivalry with then-Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana, Macho Man defeated the WWE Hall of Famer to earn his first WWE title.

Savage became a WrestleMania staple early on, making his debut on The Grandest Stage of Them All at WrestleMania 2 where he defended the Intercontinental Championship against the intimidating and unpredictable George “The Animal” Steele. From there, he defended the title all the way until WrestleMania III when he fell short against Ricky Steamboat in what is considered by many to be one of the greatest matches of all time.

Savage went on to dub himself “Macho King” after defeating “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan for the King of the Ring title in 1989. Carrying a scepter and crown, he called on Sensational Sherri to replace Elizabeth as his manager. Savage targeted then-WWE Champion Ultimate Warrior with a series of attacks in response to being denied a title opportunity, which led to a Career-Ending Match at WrestleMania VII. When Savage was pinned, Sherri attacked him as he lay helpless. Fortunately, Elizabeth was in the audience and rushed to his aid, sparking arguably the most romantic moment the WWE Universe had ever witnessed. The sight of Miss Elizabeth and Macho Man embracing in the center of the ring after all those years was one of the fans would not soon forget.

The Rock History

After a rocky (pun intended) start in the WWE debut in the WWE in 1996 at the Survivor Series, A young man then known as Rocky Maivia made his splash. As he made his way to the ring, broadcaster Jim Ross said, “Now there is gonna be the man, right there. That’s blue chip, right there.” There were some growing pains in the early part of Maivia’s career; fans would often chant “Die, Rocky, Die.” But once he transformed into The Rock, he became “the man.” According to the WWE:

He has been dubbed The Great One, The People’s Champion and The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment. Mere words fail to capture the essence of the most charismatic Superstar of all time, though the catchphrase “boots to asses” comes awfully close.

The first third-generation Superstar in WWE history, the man born Dwayne Johnson was destined for sports-entertainment immortality since birth, but his rise to the status of a pop culture icon was harder to predict. In the time since he made his debut as a grinning good guy at the 1996 Survivor Series, The Brahma Bull has won eight WWE Championships, headlined WrestleMania, hosted “Saturday Night Live,” written a New York Times bestselling autobiography, top-billed the popular HBO series “Ballers” and starred in films like “Fast Five” and “The Game Plan,” which have grossed literally billions of dollars. The amazing thing is, he’s just getting started.

Son of WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, the University of Miami football standout showed promise early when he won the Intercontinental Championship within months of first setting foot in the ring. From there, The Rock’s momentum never slowed, as he laid the smackdown on “Attitude Era” rivals like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Triple H while spouting off endless catchphrases that immediately became part of national conversation. With one eyebrow cocked, The People’s Champion would warn jabronis to “Know your role and shut your mouth” or “Just bring it!” before delivering his devastating finishing maneuver, The Rock Bottom, on the way to victory.

The 6-foot-5 competitor was soon fielding offers to star in films like “The Scorpion King” and “Gridiron Gang” thanks to the endless charisma and appeal he exuded in the squared circle. Despite a record-setting Hollywood career that included roles in the “Fast & Furious” franchises as well as “Pain & Gain,” “Hercules” and “San Andreas,” The Rock still returned to the ring against John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania XXVIII, won the WWE Championship from CM Punk in 2013 and defended it against Cena once again at WrestleMania 29 — all while proving to WWE’s newest generation of fans what their elders already knew: That he truly is The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment.
