We take a detailed look and review the Cobra Battle Android Trooper B.A.T. from the GI Joe Super7 ReAction line
Super7 is continuing to knock it out of the park with their GI Joe ReAction line and the latest Cobra Battle Android Trooper is no exception! If you have not starting collecting the GI Joe ReAction line, we highly recommend it! First, they are doing an amazing job with the packaging and card art, something that Hasbro could take note of for their seemingly fledgling o-ring line. Second, the figure selection is amazing and we finally get to take a look at one of the more anticipated figures in the line! Before we delve into the review and photos, we wanted to send a special thanks to Entertainment Earth for providing this Cobra Battle Android Trooper Super7 ReAction figure for our review.
Packaging
Like we alluded to earlier, the COBRA B.A.T. packaging is outstanding! The card stock is very thick and sturdy so you won’t have to worry about it bending

File Card
The cool thing about Super7’s ReAction GI Joe line is that you get a full file card, just like the good ‘ole days! In fact, they are actually an upgrade to the vintage BAT file cards. By the time 1986 rolled around, Hasbro had transitioned from the classic peach colored cards to silver and they did not include the top section anymore that contained File Name & Primary and Secondary Military Specialty. The information on the file card is just like the vintage BAT and reads:
B.A.T.S. are the perfect Cobra Troopers. They never question orders, complain about the chow, shirk duty, or surrender. They require no leave-time, sick-pay, or benefits of any kind, and they are cheap and easy to replace. On the other hand, B.A.T.S. do not react very well to changes in field conditions, nor do they discriminate between targets. They will shoot at anything that moves, be it friend, foe or animal. They also have an unfortunate tendency to burst into flame when hit from behind…
“B.A.T.S. are dangerous to everybody. They’ll shoot, bayonet or kick anything in sight, Cobra Infantrymen don’t like to be on the same battlefield with B.A.T.S. When a Cobra unit is losing a battle they will dispense B.A.T.S. into the midst of the firefight in order to evacuate the area easily.”

The packaging and style was inspired by the Cobra B.A.T. from the GI Joe 3 3/4″ line and you can see that Super7 was using a similar style burst and illustration for their designs.
Packaging Inspiration

Cobra BAT Inspiration
The Super7 ReAction Cobra BAT design was inspired by their appearance in the GI Joe Real American Hero cartoon and the likeliness is uncanny! According to Wikipedia:
BATs are the perfect Cobra trooper. They never question orders, shirk duty or surrender. They are cheap and easy to replace. However, BATs do not react well to changes in field conditions, or discriminate well between targets. They will shoot at anything that moves. Cobra Infantrymen don’t like to be on the same battlefield with B.A.Ts, and will sometimes dispense BATs into a losing battle, by kicking them out of low-flying aircraft without parachutes. B.A.Ts also have a tendency to burst into flame when hit from behind.
Cobra BAT
“The B.A.T.s made their debut in the episode “Arise, Serpentor, Arise Part I”. They were creations of Scrap Iron and Dr. MindBender during their first encounter with the Joes they participated in an assault on GI Joe Headquarters were basically unstoppable. If not for the intervention of Sgt. Slaughter, who made short work of them, the Joes would have most likely been defeated. In subsequent appearances, the B.A.T.s were used mostly as cannon-fodder, and were ineffective as soldiers, as they were usually easily defeated.” – JoePedia

The first production series of B.A.Ts was developed by Doctor Mindbender. These models had a humanoid form, with exposed electronics in their chest cavity for easy battlefield maintenance. The right forearm could be equipped with a flamethrower, laser cannon, gripper claw, or standard robotic hand. Doctor Mindbender has overseen subsequent modifications and customization of the B.A.Ts, including a streamlined appearance, increased targeting accuracy, and modular missile launcher systems. Though they have become more mindless with each successive design, their manufacturing process and weapons systems are continually being upgraded.

Figure
The figure is decked out in classic the yellow and black motif that we all grew up with! Since the Super7 line is Sunbow inspired, the B.A.T. has a red face shield on the helmet, which looks exactly like the cartoon! The clear chest plate shows the inner workings of the B.A.T. and has the classic pair of grenades hanging off a newly designed brown strap, which adds some color to the figure. The silver paint apps have a nice sheen to them and look like metal, which adds some texture and versatility to the look!

The silver bracers go all the up the forearms and you can see the red cobra insignia branded on the left arm. The hands are also very detailed as they look like they have rivets and bolts, playing into the android part of the figure. A brown holster is on the left leg while a comms box is strapped to the right, paying homage to the vintage figure.

Weapons and Accessories
The B.A.T. comes packed with his classic backpack that holds his claw, flamethrower, laser, and hand attachments. The silver weapons have the same sheen as the rest of the silver on the B.A.T., which ties in the peices nicely! He also comes with a smaller pistol and machine gun that was seen in the Sunbow cartoon.

Geared Up
The B.A.T. looks great holding his weapons and it really plays into the nostalgia vibe seeing the attachments stowed in the backpack.

From the side, you can see how the peg from the backpack fits into the back of the B.A.T. and although there is some clearance, it is a nice fit and looks fantastic overall!
