April 30th UPDATE: New promotional images released

Thanks to Roy Juarez on Instagram for posting an incredible video of still images showcasing the amazing playability of the new Snake Mountain Playset!

We get another view of the front of Snake Mountain, and Dragon Blaster Skeletor making his way across the bridge!

Here Thunder Punch He Man goes up against the Snake that guards the entrance gate to Snake Mountain, but it looks like He-Man lost this fight as he goes plummeting through the trap door into the awaiting jail cell below!

Man E Faces didn’t fair any better as he is shackled in on the front of the castle in chains. Also we have a Skeleton Warrior guarding the cave entrance.

Skeletor sits on his bone throne as he looks over Man E Faces waist deep in the acid pit!

April 27, 2023 UPDATE: Where to Preorder Snake Mountain

The preorder for the MOTU Origins Snake Mountain went live back on April 22, 2023. You can check stock status on Amazon to see if the preorder is still available. Entertainment Earth has posted a tease to the Snake Mountain Preorder in their Drop Zone. The EE Drop Zone automatically updates to provide a direct link to preorders so be sure bookmark the Drop Zone so you can pounce like Panthor on the Snake Mountain preorder. King Hiss turns into a snake and sprays his venous mist at Snake Armor Skeletor!

The venomous mist knocks Snake Armor Skeletor unconscious and the two Snake Men attack and take his beloved powerful Havoc Staff away from him!

The Snake Men bring their captured Havoc staff to King Hiss!

King Hiss celebrates as he has now gained the power to take control of Snake Mountain! And if you notice, King Hiss also has 200X He Man’s power sword in his hand as well! The scene ends with a view of Snake Mountain and the words.., “To be continued”

Official images have surfaced today for the highly anticipated Snake Mountain MOTU Origins Playset. Back on March 20, 2023, Mattel gave us an incredible MOTU Monday of reveals this week, but one glaring omission was not part of the preorder releases on Tuesday, that of course was Snake Mountain! Shown in the center of the Mattel 2023 Fall Catalogue, we know that Snake Mountain is coming soon! Well we got a nice hint from one of our favorite Fan Channel Retailers, Entertainment Earth that we believe Snake Mountain Preorder is going to drop April 28th! We now have official images of Snake Mountain too so we hope this gets you excited for the upcoming Snake Mountain MOTU Origins preorder!

Let’s take a look at some new details of note about the exterior of Snake Mountain first. The biggest upgrade to this modern version on a vintage classic is the huge green snake that sits atop the playset. Taking its cues from the Filmation cartoon series, this snake has huge fangs, and collared next and textured snake body with multiple points of articulation. The jaw is also articulated, and you can trap your unsuspecting heroes in its clutches as they traverse the rocky exterior of Snake Mountain. The front of the playset also includes the new detachable bridge that sits on the front of the playset with green moss and slime covering it. It is now constructed as a single piece, as opposed to the vintage version which folded in half to allow you to use it as a carrying case. So now it will link both sides of Snake Mountain when the playset is open. Mattel has also added extra foot pegs to the front of the playset along the steps and mountainous terrain to make it easier for your figures to stand on. The stairs, walkways and bridge have also been widened to make it easier fort the figures to traverse the surface. The hanging shackles chains on the front of the playset are now made of a soft pliable plastic so that they won’t break. The vintage Snake Mountain was notorious for having broken shackles, and these will last through the roughest of play!

Now let’s turn our attention to the interior of Snake Mountain. There a whole host of new features going on inside this playset. First Skeletor finally gets his Bone throne for these 5.5″ scale figures! The Bone Throne sits next ledge where you can place the moveable dungeon cage underneath. Next to the throne there is also a rotating wolf head, and removable spider that can be pegged into several locations on the interior. The dungeon cage can also be positioned either under the trap door at the main wolf gate, or under this trap door in the throne room. There is a new acid pool with 2 included creature figures, and you can snap your action figures apart at their torso and peg them into the acid pool, so it looks like they are sinking into the pool. There is an escape tunnel with red hanging soft plastic vines. Finally we have a new included weapons rack with new green accessories that look like they glow in the dark!

To quote the Drop Calendar ” Check back for our mountainous drop!” It says it’s a Mattel / Playsets, so it’s got to be none other than Snake Mountain! We know from the Toybook.com, volume 39, No. 1., February 2023 edition that the MSRP is $79.99 and will be released Fall 2023.
