August 5, 2022: Sectaurs Figures Return by Nacelle Co.

2022 is turning out to be the return of toy lines we never thought would see the light of day! From the return of the Super Powers back to retail to Nacelle bringing back the Sectaurs, we are definitely seeing the nostalgia come back in a major way! Thank you to Toybook.com for this exclusive look of this iconic, yet short-lived, toy line making it’s way back into our lives!

In the Spring of 1985, Sectaurs figures hit toy store shelves and were produced by the Coleco company! The toys featured an insect appearance with their multiple eyes, fangs, and more importantly, realistic fur, which, looking back, was pretty disgusting for the time. Some of the larger puppet like creatures featured a fun way to put your hand inside a glove making up up the lower body of the beast to manipulate the legs, which was a cool action feature. A second series of figures were designed and pictured in dealers’ catalogues (shown below), but never produced due to the line’s cancellation. Competition and high price points for the figures doomed the line but it is great to see them coming back and we hope they come back in a major way!

As for the lore, Sectaurs.com has a nice summary if you are not familiar with it:

On the distant planet Symbion™, a genetic experiment fails. Frightening changes take place that cannot be stopped. The result—a world where insetcts grow to frightening proportions. A world where the inhabitants have taken on the awesome characteristics of insects. Where the noble citizens of the Shining Realm are locked in mortal combat with the denizens of the Dark Domain. Telepathically bonded (telebonded) in combat, Sectaur Warriors join with their insect companions in the ultimate battle for survival.

Dargon

According to Sectaurs.com, Dargon’s backstory is as follows:

Born to King Markor™ The Mighty, and heir apparent to The Shining Realm™, Prince Royal Dargon™ is a natural leader. With Mantor as his tutor, he has come to respect his duties. Dargon’s inner balance greatly enhances his own natural strength, speed and endurance. Extensively trained in the use of all conventional Sybionic weaponry, Dargon chooses to defend himself with a Skall™ shield and Vengun™—an automatic weapon that discharges venom-dipped darts. The potent venom of the darts cause instant unconsciousness, but does not kill. Dargon is telebonded to his steed, Dragonflyer™—the prize of the Shining Realm’s famed Stables of Symbion and the fastest winged insectoid of all. His razor sharp fangs, endurance and great tolerance for pain make him a valuable ally in any combat situation. Dragonflyer is a gentle giant, protective of Dargon without being obtrusive. Competent and intelligent, he prefers to stand in the background. Like his master, Dragonflyer understands the strength that inner balance can bring, making him a perfect telebonded companion to Dargon.

Stelara

According to Wikipedia, the backtory on Stelara is as follows:

A female warrior. In the comic book series, it was established Stellara’s Insectoid died in battle some time ago and one story focused on her attempting to tele-bond with a new one, but was unable to complete the ritual because Dargon and the others were in danger. Nevertheless, the Insectoid she tried to tele-bond with aided her in saving them. In the comics, Stellara was a romantic interest of Pinsor, but she thought of him as a surrogate father; her true fondness was for Dargon. The two renditions of Stellara, despite sharing a name, were very visually different from each other. The unreleased Stellara figure from the planned second series of the toy line resembled her animated incarnation, and was to have included Rhine-Ox as her partner, an Action Bug with a headbutting feature. Her weapons were a Skall dagger, shield, and a Vengun.
