Check out our review of the Deluxe He-Man Mondo Exclusive Timed Edition as we show off his Standard, Battle Armor, & Thunder Punch looks!
According to Mondo, the goal for this new He-Man wasn’t to reissue the figure, but rather bring the character back in a new and fresh way. This figure is a a brand new He-Man with new head sculpts, accessories, and so much more. It is the quintennial version Mondo has released and they have knocked this one out of the park! It’s meant to be a celebration of some of his various appearances throughout his toy and comic history. You get three definitive looks for He-Man (well, four if you count removing his armor entirely). With this deluxe version, you can turn him to the standard version of Hew-Man we all know and love plus a Battle Armor and Thunder Punch version!

Box, Art, and Packout
Florian Bertmer also did incredible work with the packaging design and it is amazing to see this in living color! You can see He-Man striking his famous pose with the sword of power summoning the Powers of Grayskull. If you look closely, you can see He-Man in his Battle Armor as he is running through the Fright Zone while the Thunder Punch version is fending off the Snake Men in front of Viper Tower. If this was a MOTU Origins package, King Hiss and Kobra Khan would be teased as figures coming to the line but this is just a pipe dream!

On the back of the box, it reads: “Eternia was in need of a champion. Someone who would protect it against the villainous Skeletor. That person would be known as the hero: He-Man. Son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, Prince Adam was bestowed the powers of He-Man by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. Using the mighty Power Sword, Prince Adam transforms into the powerful warrior known as He-Man, gaining enhanced strength and abilities. He-Man battles the menacing Skeletor in the name of good and all of Eternia, never resting until peace is restored to all the land and Skeletor’s evil is no more.
The inner box flap shows He-Man in front of Castle Grayskull raising his Power Sword aloft as he has just transformed from Prince Adam into He-Man. The inside view of the box gives you a look at He-Man and his amazing packout!

The packout on He-Man is pretty spectacular as he comes with the following:

- Neutral Portrait
- Angry Portrait
- Classic Portrait
- Classic Chest Armor
- Battle Chest Armor
- Swappable battle armor
- Power Sword
- Classic Shield
- Battle Axe
- Ankle Knife
- Ankle Knife Sheath
- 5 interchangeable hands
- Thunder Punch Chest Armor
- Thunder Punch Punch hand
- Thunder Punch Power Sword
- Thunder Punch Shield
- Thunder Punch Gems

Figure Buck
As we alluded to earlier, you can remove He-Man’s armor entirely and you can give him the Savage or Oo-Lar look but I don’t think Mondo intended for this to be a way to display the figure but you have the option. The chest shows a ton of rippled muscle detail on the upper chest as well as the abs, which is very apropos for He-Man. His back features great muscle detail as well and most of the time the muscles will be hidden by portions of the armor so it is great to see him without it.

Furry Shorts
One of the coolest features of the figure are the real furry shorts! The furry loin cloth looks great and although it comes matted and flattened down, you can fluff it a little to give it more depth and dimension.

Boots
The boots also come adorned with fur, which is a very cool effect! The fur is much softer than the loin cloth and overflows over the top of the boots. Hos boots have a leather wrapped look and feel to them, which goes great with the aesthetic of the figure. You can also attach the dagger accessory to one of his boots (we chose the right one).

Head Sculpts and Hands
He Man comes with 3 portraits and two out of the three look amazing! His neutral and angry head sculpts really capture a new look for He-Man while his vintage look, we feel has missed the mark. The hair is way too yellow and a bit smaller than the other head sculpts and we feel his head would have looked better with a more neutral hair color like the other head sculpts.

He comes with extra hands to give him more ways to display this figure (like you needed more right???).

Standard and Vintage Look
He-Man has never looked better in his vintage form! Although the vintage head sculpt is classic, we felt that the color was too canary yellow for our tastes and the head does not look quite right on the body.

A great head sculpt to pair with his classic look is his neutral looking portrait as it pays homage to his vintage appearance and he looks great posed without his weapons.

Chest Armor
He-Man’s armor has a worn look to it and a large metal plate in the middle of his chest looks like it can offer some great protection and is secured with some gray straps that have some nice leather texturing and rivet finishes to them.

He comes packed with two removable bracers! On his right wrist, he has his classic gold wrist cuff while, on his left hand, he has a more intricate gauntlet that has a gold accent on top of a leather wrapped piece.

He looks amazing posed with his weapons! His axe has an intricate design that is silver with gold accents and the handle design is spectacular! The Power Sword looks amazing and is of the right thickness and scale for this figure. the handle of the sword has a black wrap to it.

Battle Armor He-Man
With the ingenious use of magnets, yo can put on He-Man’s Battle Armor with no effort at all! Mondo’s solution was a swappable “H” that snaps on and off with a magnet plus the top and bottom of the armor has magnetic contact points. This is one of the more definitive looks for He-Man and he looks amazing with his angry head sculpt to compliment the battle look!

Battle Armor
His Battle armor fits him like a glove and hugs his chest really well! The detailing around the abs really mimic his bare abs in a way that looks very natural. The rivets add the extra level of realism that is lacking on figures at lower price points that are mass produced. For example, the armor on the MOTU Classics BA He-Man has a similar style but lacks the fits and finishes, which you would expect at a figure with a $25 point point. Paying homage to the battle armor action feature, the chest features swappable plates that use magnets and come on and off without removing the armor, which is a brilliant design move!

Battle Armor and Standard Accessories
The inside of the shield has a brown leather look strap with a substantial handle for his fist to grab a hold of. His axe has an intricate design that is silver with gold accents and the handle design is spectacular! The boots and loin cloth have a real fur texture to them and add a different level of texture and feel to the figure. The Power Sword looks amazing and is of the right thickness and scale for this figure. the handle of the sword has a black wrap to it, matching the color of the handle of the axe.

Thunder Punch He-Man
Paying homage to his Thunder Punch version that came out in 1985 and to say that they nailed this look would be understatement! He also features removable wrist cuffs that tie into the color of his armor. The neutral and angry portraits look amazing and make a great pair for the figure to give him different looks.

You can also nest the Thunder Punch “Gems” into his shield, which pays homage to the caps that the original Thunder Punch He-Man came with.

The chest armor looks amazing with a crackled metal design that features the ‘H’ in the middle of his chest, coincidentally, that first appeared on his Battle Armor version in the 1980’s! The strap detail has varying colors of deep and light reds to break up the design to prevent it from looking like a solid piece.

The weapons are really the centerpiece of this design. The shield alone is so detailed and it looks like it has layers of metal on the front that make up the design. In the vintage version, if you recall, had more of a silver chrome look that had a smooth finish. The front of the shield also features that ‘H’ plus a place to stow the caps that the the original Thunder Punch He Man came with. The back of the shield features a similar strap and handle as his vintage style shield and we love the black and silver detailing they put on the back of it. The amber translucent Power Sword was the perfect color for this design. He looks amazing holding it in hand and also stowed in his shield!

The weapons and accessories look fantastic and no matter what he is holding, it all fits perfectly!

Throwin Down With Hordak
Our favorite look for this figure is his Thunder Punch look so we thought it would be fun to show him throwing a massive Thunder Punch to Hordak, who look great together!
