Green Lantern Corps McFarlane DC Multiverse Release Details

McFarlane has shared release details for the upcoming DC Multiverse Green Lantern Corps lineup, giving us a clearer picture of when these figures will be available to order. The wave features Sinestro, Medphyll, Naut Ke Loi, and Ghr’ll, a roster that reaches much deeper into the history of the Green Lantern Corps than the usual Hal Jordan or John Stewart releases, which I really appreciate. Sinestro is easily the most recognizable name of the group, having once been regarded as one of the Corps’ greatest Green Lanterns before his eventual fall from its ranks. Medphyll is a veteran Green Lantern from the plant-like Banyam species and protector of Space Sector 586, while the aquatic Naut Ke Loi serves as the Green Lantern of Space Sector 12 and was one of the Corps’ earliest recruits. Rounding out the group is Ghr’ll, the Green Lantern assigned to Space Sector 151 alongside his partner Xylpth. Medphyll, Naut Ke Loi, and Ghr’ll will be available beginning August 27th at select retailers, with Sinestro following separately in September. What I love most about this wave is the character selection, because digging into the wider Green Lantern Corps roster and finally giving collectors characters like Medphyll, Naut Ke Loi, and Ghr’ll is exactly the kind of deep-cut approach that keeps the DC Multiverse line feeling fresh for longtime fans.

Green Lantern Corps

Four members of the Green Lantern Corps are grouped together, with Sinestro at the front carrying a Power Battery, flanked by Medphyll and Ghr’ll on either side, and Naut Ke Loi towering behind them. Each figure wears a variation of the green and black uniform, but the head sculpts are where this set really shines, from Medphyll’s single-eyed plant head to Naut Ke Loi’s massive enclosed helmet and Ghr’ll’s finned face.

Ghr’ll

Ghr’ll is a fairly obscure alien member of the Green Lantern Corps, created by Paul Kupperberg and Carmine Infantino. He first appeared in Green Lantern Vol. 2 #151 in April 1982. His suit has a nice textured green finish with black paneling along the sides, and the Green Lantern emblem is cleanly placed on his chest.

Medphyll

Medphyll is a veteran member of the Green Lantern Corps from the planet J586, home to a race of intelligent plant-like beings called the Banyams. Medphyll’s head sculpt is wonderfully bizarre, a single large eye mounted in a green domino mask-style band sitting above a long, tapered face, all topped with a dense, gnarled mass of brain-like plant growth.

Naut Ke Loi

NautKeLoi is a veteran Green Lantern from Aeros, an entirely aquatic world, and serves as the protector of Space Sector 12. He was one of the Green Lantern Corps’ earliest recruits. Naut Ke Loi’s head sculpt is the centerpiece here, a massive screaming face encased in a clear domed helmet with a silver collar band and small rivets around the base. The suit carries the same green and black paneling as the rest of the Corps, with white gloves and a Power Ring sculpted onto one fist.

Sinestro

Sinestro is one of the most important figures in Green Lantern history and the arch-enemy of Hal Jordan. A native of Korugar in Space Sector 1417, Sinestro was once considered one of the greatest members of the Green Lantern Corps. Sinestro’s head sculpt has sharp, angular features with a pencil-thin mustache, a pointed widow’s peak, and a stern, furrowed brow over glowing yellow eyes. His Power Ring is sculpted onto one fist, and the metallic green finish on the suit has a fine crosshatch texture throughout the panels.
