Gym Bro Skeletor MOTU Chronicles SDCC 2026 Exclusive Hi Res Package & Art Reveal
By the power of Grayskull! Huge thanks to @manuel_eduardo_caritas for posting a close look at one of the most fun SDCC exclusives I’ve seen in a long time. We’ve been hearing the buzz about Gym Bro Skeletor from the MOTU Chronicles line, and now we finally get to see the full packaging reveal for this San Diego Comic-Con 2026 exclusive, and boy are we thrilled! I mean, where do I even begin? The Evil Lord of Destruction decked out in gym gear, ready to crush his workout before he crushes his enemies? “It’s hard work being this bad!” is absolutely the tagline this figure deserves. I just love everything about this concept. Skeletor has always been one of the most entertaining villains in all of pop culture, and leaning into that larger-than-life personality with a swole gym bro twist is so much fun. The packaging artwork looks absolutely stunning, and I could not agree more with the commenters saying they’d want the box even without a figure inside. How amazing is that artwork?! I also want to give a shout out to the incredible team behind this one. Terry Higuchi on toy design, Roy Juarez handling art direction and packaging design, Lawrence Pukhrambam as packaging engineer, Melissa Karlin on brand copywriting, and Simón Eckert on illustration. The fact that they gave themselves titles like “Yoga Master,” “Master of Crunches,” “Master of Squats,” “Master of Spin,” and “Master of Biceps” tells you exactly how much love and personality went into this release. These are clearly fellow fans having the time of their lives, and it shows in every detail. MOTU Chronicles continues to deliver really cool and creative takes on the characters we grew up loving, and this SDCC exclusive might be one of the most memorable convention pieces in recent memory. So let’s take a look at the Gym Bro Skeletor MOTU Chronicles SDCC 2026 exclusive hi res package and art reveal! Enjoy the packaging videos below:
The box art for Gym Bro Skeletor is an absolute blast, with Simón Eckert’s illustration showing the Evil Lord of Destruction in a purple hoodie emblazoned with his ram skull emblem, gripping a massive spiked barbell. Roy Juarez’s art direction leans into a retro fitness aesthetic with radiating blue, purple, and orange lightning bolt patterns that feel like they belong on an ’80s gym membership card, topped with a stylized triangular badge that ties the whole design together.

The side panel continues the retro fitness energy with a purple sunburst pattern and Skeletor’s now-iconic quote, “It is hard work being this bad,” stamped in bold block lettering. I like how Melissa Karlin’s copywriting leans fully into the humor of the concept, treating Skeletor’s villainy like a gym grind.

Here’s a closer look at the opposite panel, and it’s just as fun. The artwork shows Skeletor lifting his purple hoodie to reveal his midsection, with the phrase “By The Power Of These Abs” splashed across the front, while the side spine reads “Crush Your Workout Then Crush Your Enemies” in stacked purple and black lettering against a pink sunburst.

The front of the packaging gives you a full look at everything Gym Bro Skeletor comes with, and there’s a lot to take in: two dumbbells, a loaded barbell, a blue sweatband featuring the ram skull logo, and what appears to be a small red gym bench. I like how the illustrated backdrop behind the figure mirrors the box art’s retro gym setting, with purple equipment and blue speed lines framing the figure while he’s nestled in the tray wearing his purple hoodie, matching shorts, blue tube socks with purple stripes, and black high-top sneakers.

The back of the packaging keeps the retro fitness theme going strong, with the same radiating sunburst pattern framing a large-scale version of Simón Eckert’s illustration of Skeletor mid-curl with that spiked barbell. It’s cool to see how Roy Juarez’s packaging design wraps the entire box in a consistent visual language, making the whole thing feel like a collectible piece of ’80s gym memorabilia even before you get to the figure inside.

The back panel doubles as a full workout poster, breaking down Skeletor’s exercise routine into upper and lower body sections with names like “Destruction Press,” “Roton Row,” “Die-Cept Curls,” and “Lord of Squats,” each illustrated with the figure demonstrating the move using the included dumbbells and barbell. I think it’s neat that Terry Higuchi’s figure design clearly accounts for this level of posability, and seeing every exercise mapped out like a legit gym program makes the whole concept feel completely committed rather than just a surface-level gag.

You can see how Roy Juarez’s packaging design treats every surface as real estate for the concept, with the front panel’s explosive sunburst in blue, purple, and orange radiating outward behind Simón Eckert’s illustration while the side spine delivers that “Crush Your Workout Then Crush Your Enemies” tagline in a mix of heavy black serif lettering and handwritten-style purple script. The cream-colored outer border frames everything like a vintage poster print, and the way the side panel’s purple field contrasts against the front’s multicolor burst gives the whole box a satisfying sense of visual rhythm when viewed from this three-quarter angle.

Here’s a closer look at the box from a three-quarter rear angle, and you can really appreciate how the back panel’s full illustration of Skeletor lifting his hoodie wraps seamlessly into the side panel’s purple field. Lawrence Pukhrambam’s packaging engineering deserves a nod here, because the way the two panels meet at the corner creates an almost book-like presentation, with the playful “By The Power Of These Abs” artwork reading naturally into the side panel’s quote like pages of the same joke.

Simón Eckert’s illustration really shines on this panel, with Skeletor’s skull face rendered in a warm bone tone accented by glowing orange-red eyes that pop against the deep purple of his hoodie. The ram skull emblem on the hoodie chest is done in a lighter lavender tone that keeps it subtle while still reading as a distinct design element within the purple fabric.
