Mattel Creations Masters of the Universe July 2026 Figure Drops Update

We’ve been doing a bit of investigative digging through the Mattel Creations launch calendars, cross-referencing the U.S. and Australian schedules to try and piece together what July 2026 might have in store for MOTU collectors, and the puzzle pieces are starting to form an interesting picture. So far, we can identify figure drop slots on July 8th, July 10th, and July 20th, along with two slots reserved for July 24th, which falls right in the heart of SDCC 2026 and is when the Gym Bro Skeletor MOTU Chronicles figure goes up for preorder. We already knew about the July 8th drop, but the overlap we’re seeing between the AU and U.S. calendars on the 10th suggests there could be a MOTU-related Brick Shop release that day as well. What really caught our attention, though, is the second slot on July 24th, because it raises an obvious question: did the Australian calendar just tip us off to an additional SDCC reveal, or is this simply a duplicate listing? It’s worth remembering that these two calendars don’t always line up perfectly, as the AU schedule previously showed a June drop that the U.S. calendar didn’t reflect at all, and that turned out to be the made-to-order MOTU Chronicles Orko. So there’s real precedent for the Australian calendar leaking intel ahead of time. Now, we can only speculate on what that second SDCC slot might be, but if you’ll allow us to dream for a moment, imagine Mattel answering fans’ calls and dropping an HR Skeletor from the dream sequence in the Masters of the Universe movie, which would give us a hat trick of Skeletors and complete the dream set of Gym Bro Skeletor, Dream Date Skeletor, and HR Skeletor. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the calendar data is there for anyone who wants to read the tea leaves, and we’ll be watching closely as July approaches to see if any of these slots get filled in with official announcements.

July 2026 MOTU Drops

The Mattel Creations launch calendar teaser keeps things vague, with a solid red card featuring the Masters of the Universe logo and a “Coming Soon” placeholder but no figure reveal. MOTU collectors have something to look forward to ahead of SDCC 2026, and we’re eager to find out what’s dropping.

July 8, 2026: MOTU Origins Tauraton

The card art is gorgeous, depicting Tauraton as a towering, crimson-skinned minotaur beast rampaging through a glowing underground labyrinth, all jagged gold armor and massive curved horns. The box itself wraps the figure in a purple-to-magenta cosmic gradient, with the accessories nestled in the tray alongside him.

The front of the box features an incredible illustration of Tauraton’s massive jaws wide open, rows of sharp metallic fangs framing a blinding burst of green-yellow energy pouring from its throat. The artwork leans into deep teals and steely blues across the creature’s skull-like head, all set against that swirling cosmic purple and magenta backdrop.

The included mini-comic, titled “Sneak Attack,” features a striking cover with Ninjor leaping across Eternian rooftops in his black and red ninja garb, a green-tinted weapon in hand, while Buzz-Off and other familiar characters lurk in the scene behind him. You can see several pages peeking out from behind the cover, hinting at full comic book-style interior panels. This mini-comic inclusion is a bit perplexing as I believe it was the same mini-comic that was included with the standard Ninjor MOTU Origins release.

The packaging artwork on this side panel is a full scene, showing Tauraton towering over what looks like Teela and a barbarian warrior in a lush green landscape, with a winged dragon creature soaring overhead. I like how the illustration leans into that classic fantasy painting style, all rich greens and golds, with Tauraton’s crimson skin and elaborate gold chest armor popping against the jungle setting.

Tauraton is an absolute beast in person, with six independently articulated arms sprouting from that deep crimson body, each one sculpted with a different hand pose ranging from clenched fists to open grasping claws. The gold spiked pauldrons sit heavy on his shoulders, and that crossed black leather harness with the ornate gold belt buckle ties everything together over a furry loincloth with some really nice sculpted texture.

Here’s a closer look at that club, which has a fantastic wood-grain texture running along the brown shaft, capped with a gnarly silver ram’s head sculpt complete with curling horns. The gold bull helmet is loaded with sculpted detail, from the ridged snout and tiny red eyes to those sweeping black and gray horns that have a subtle banded gradient running from base to tip.

You can see how those gold shin guards have a layered, segmented design with sharp talon-like protrusions curving outward at the knees, and his hooved feet are sculpted in a dark gray that contrasts nicely against the red ankles. The silver chest plate has a riveted, industrial look to it, sitting snugly between those spiked pauldrons and adding a cooler metallic tone that breaks up the warm red and gold color scheme.

Here are some fun shots of Tauraton squared off against what appears to be Teela, and the sheer size difference really sells how imposing this figure is when you put him next to a standard Origins figure with a bow. Something I appreciate here is how all that gold armor catches differently across each of the six arms depending on their angle, with the studded wrist cuffs and talon claws creating layers of visual texture that keep drawing your eye around the figure.

Here’s a closer look at the way the gold bull helmet sculpt flows into the chest armor, with the segmented collar piece bridging the two in a darker gunmetal tone that keeps the gold and silver elements from competing with each other. Those spiked gold wrist cuffs have a nice chunky, ornamental quality to them, with pointed studs that mirror the pauldron details and tie the upper and lower armor together.

Tauraton clocks in at a full 8 inches tall, and you really get a sense of that scale here with all six arms spread wide, making him tower over anything else in your Origins shelf. I like how the extra pair of lower arms, tucked beneath the primary four, features those golden talon-like clawed hands that feel distinctly more feral than the fists and grasping hands above them.

Here’s a full layout of everything Tauraton ships with, and that chest armor piece is something else up close, with its dark gunmetal bucket shape flanked by those gold star-burst pauldrons that clip onto each side like medieval jousting armor. The club’s silver ram’s head end has a spiked mace ring just behind it, a nice little detail that separates this from a simple bludgeon and makes it feel like a proper fantasy weapon.

The AU launch calendar reserves a Masters of the Universe drop for July 10th, and the U.S. calendar has a Mattel Brick Shop listing slotted for the same day with its product still hidden behind a “Coming Soon” placeholder. Whether that Brick Shop slot is MOTU-related is anyone’s guess right now, but the date overlap is hard to ignore.

Two separate listing slots for Masters of the Universe are reserved on the same date in the AU launch calendar, each tagged as a Creations Exclusive with the classic MOTU logo centered on an otherwise blank white card. If this isn’t a duplicate, that second slot could be the opening HR Skeletor needs to round out what would be one incredible Skeletor trifecta.

HR Skeletor Masters of the Universe Movie Dream Sequence shows the overlord of evil in full office attire, sporting a purple and white striped dress shirt, a patterned tie, a lanyard with an ID badge, and his signature purple hood pulled up over that iconic skull face. Blue skin on the forearms, dark gloves, a coffee cup in hand, and one glowing red eye in the close-up make this the kind of deep-cut movie reference that collectors would lose it over as a soft goods release.

The accessory spread includes a pair of swap-out hands, two dumbbells of different sizes, and a soft goods gym towel with a sculpted ram skull emblem. That towel has real texture to it, a nice little detail that adds a lot to the gym theme.

Gym Bro Skeletor is decked out in a purple hoodie and matching shorts, complete with a drawstring waist and white tube socks with purple stripes. The purple high-top sneakers with white laces are a fantastic touch, and those dumbbells fit perfectly in his blue hands.

The barbell is a great accessory, with stacked weight plates on each end and a thin metal-look bar running between them. His skull face peers out from under the hood with yellow eyes and a toothy grin that sells the whole concept.

From the back, the purple hoodie has embossed text molded into the fabric sculpt, and the hood drapes naturally over his skull with convincing folds and wrinkles in the plastic. The white tube socks with purple stripes sit just below the knee, and the sneakers have detailed sole sculpts with small circular graphics on the heel.

The sneakers have a multi-panel construction with sculpted laces, a small crossbones emblem on the outer side, and a pink circular detail near the ankle. White tube socks with purple double stripes tuck cleanly into the high-tops, and the textured blue legs show sculpted wrinkles in the baggy shorts above.

The ram skull logo on the chest of the hoodie has a nice sculpted depth to it, sitting cleanly against the purple fabric. Red eyes peer out from under the hood, and the skull face has fine line work in the brow and cheekbone area that reads really well up close.
