Laser Light Skeletor MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive In Hand Images

I am the Evil Master of Light Energy! We have been covering this release since it was first teased by Mattel Creations, then through the hi-res artwork reveal, and now the wait is finally over because we have Laser Light Skeletor in hand! I am so excited about this one. The original Laser Light Skeletor from the late ’80s is one of those deep cut vintage figures that so many of us have been chasing for years, and seeing Mattel bring it into the Origins line as a Mattel Creations exclusive is just amazing. These in hand images were shot by our very own @toysorceress and I can’t be more excited to share them with you all. The light-up eyes and red right hand look incredible in person, and I love how the translucent Havoc Staff catches the light. That soft goods cape is really cool too, giving Skeletor that extra sinister presence on the shelf. How freakin’ cool is that?! The mini comic is a nice bonus as well, and the window-box packaging displays him beautifully. This is one of those figures where everything just comes together, from the sculpt to the paint to the accessories, and it’s so much fun to finally have him in the collection. So let’s take a look at Laser Light Skeletor MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive!

The card art is fantastic here, with a painted scene of Laser Light Skeletor firing a blazing red beam from his staff while He-Man deflects with a mirrored shield, all set against jagged purple crystal formations. The window box below frames the figure nicely alongside the translucent red Havoc Staff, and I like how the dark, cave-like artwork on the box wraps around to give the whole package a sinister feel.

Here’s a closer look at the back of the box, which features a fully illustrated scene of Laser Light Skeletor leading an army of villains into battle, his red beam blazing from the Havoc Staff while a hooded purple cape billows behind him. You can see how the artwork leans into a comic book aesthetic with heavy ink lines and dramatic lighting, reds and purples dominating the palette as He-Man and what appears to be other Heroic Warriors brace against the onslaught in the foreground.

Laser Light Skeletor looks great out of the box, with that translucent red Havoc Staff really popping against his pale blue skin and the ornate bronze chest armor. He also comes with a mini comic titled “The Moons of Peril,” written by our friend @joshuaskywriter, which features vibrant, retro-style artwork of the core cast on its cover.

Laser Light Skeletor’s deep purple soft goods cape drapes nicely over his shoulders with a good weight to it, and those glowing red eyes against the yellow-green skull face are genuinely menacing. I noticed that the bronze boots have some really nice detailing with sculpted ridges and segmented plating that complements the elaborate chest armor.

Armed with the translucent red Havoc Staff, you can see how the ram’s head topper has a nice sculpted texture with swirling horn details, and the shaft itself has a cool semi-transparent quality that lets light pass through. The bronze chest armor is loaded with intricate mechanical-looking engravings, gears, and layered ridges that give it a completely different feel from the standard Skeletor harness. A couple things to note about this figure is there is limited articulation in a couple areas. First of all, due to his light up eyes being connected to the battery pack on his back, his head does not move. Secondly his right arm does not have an elbow or shoulder ball joint. The right arm swings up and down and swivels at the wrist only. The rest of the figure has the standard Origins articulation.

Here’s a closer look at the belt area, where a small red skull buckle sits between the bronze chest plate and the dark green trunks, adding a sinister little accent that’s easy to miss. The knee guards have a wraparound bronze design with strapped detailing that ties in nicely with the boot armor further down.

Sporting that translucent red Havoc Staff overhead, you can see how the red light-up effect in his right hand creates a subtle glow where it grips the shaft, blending seamlessly into the translucent weapon. The soft goods cape has a great sense of movement here, with the purple fabric sweeping wide behind him and showing off its slightly textured weave along the hem.

Here’s a look at the back of Laser Light Skeletor, where the purple soft goods cape hangs full-length and you can see the battery compartment built into the upper back, secured with a small screw to power those light-up eyes and right hand. The translucent red Havoc Staff peeks out from behind the cape, and I like how the brown boots just barely show beneath the hem of the fabric.

You can see how the bronze armor wraps around to the back with those ridged shoulder guards sitting high on the frame, connecting into the mechanical detailing of the chest piece. The soft goods cape falls cleanly between the armor and the body from this side view, and those brown boots with their sculpted strapping catch your eye as they ground the whole color scheme.

From this side profile, you can see how the red gauntlets on Laser Light Skeletor’s forearms have a glossy finish that matches the translucent Havoc Staff perfectly, creating a unified color story between his accessories and his light-up hand. The bronze backpack piece peeks out just above the cape line, showing off its own ribbed texture that adds another layer of detail to an already loaded figure.

A close-up reveals the chest armor in all its glory, with dense, layered sculpting of mechanical tubes, ribbed spine-like channels, and a central disc that looks almost like some kind of arcane engine. Those glowing red eyes really sell the light-up feature here, burning hot against the yellow-green skull while the purple hood frames everything perfectly.

A close-up reveals the texture of the soft goods hood, which has a nice fabric weave that drapes naturally around the skull face without looking stiff or oversized. The yellow-green skull itself has subtle tonal shading around the cheekbones and brow, with the rows of clenched teeth sculpted with crisp separation between each one.

Here’s a closer look at the face and upper torso together, where that dense bronzed chest armor with its interlocking mechanical tubes and central disc sits right below the yellow-green skull framed by the purple fabric hood. I like how the red eyes pop so intensely against the lighter tones of the skull, with each tooth individually carved and separated by deep black line work in the gaps.

You can see how the purple fabric hood bunches and gathers naturally at the nape of the neck, with the weave creating soft folds that sit against the sculpted ridges of the pale blue skull. From this angle, the transition from green to yellow across the jaw and cheekbone has a gradient quality to it, fading from a bright lime near the brow down to a deeper gold around that tightly clenched grin.

Here’s a closer look at the torso armor from a lower angle, where you can really appreciate how that central disc sits at the base of the piece, surrounded by branching mechanical tubes and spiked prongs that extend outward. The red belt with its sculpted skull buckle creates a clean color break between the bronze armor and the dark green trunks, and I’m really digging the contrast between all three colors working together.

Here’s a closer look at the lower half, where the dark green trunks have a pebbly, almost scale-like texture that separates them from the smoother blue skin of the legs. The bronze boots feature a great chunky, claw-toed design with layered armor plating that makes them look genuinely heavy, and the knee guards each sport a small sculpted claw motif that I hadn’t noticed until getting up close.
