September 4, 2025: Official Images and Price Confirmed
LEGO® Insider Early Access to the Lego Death Star starts on October 1 to 3, 2025 and October 4, 2025 for everyone else!

The LEGO Star Wars Death Star Ultimate Collector Series box shows off a massive cross-section of the battle station on the front, highlighting its 9,023-piece build with layers of detailed rooms, figures, and the large superlaser dish firing green beams. The back of the box features multiple close-up panels showcasing key scenes recreated inside, including the detention block rescue, the Emperor’s throne room, and the hangar with the Lambda-class shuttle, giving collectors a preview of the play and display possibilities packed into this enormous set.

The LEGO Star Wars Death Star set comes loaded with a massive lineup of minifigures, covering all the key characters from the Original Trilogy. You’ve got the full hero crew with Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, C-3PO, and R2-D2, along with iconic villains like Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Stormtroopers galore. The spread also includes Imperial officers, Death Star gunners, Royal Guards, droids, and even a shirtless Hot Tub Stormtrooper thrown in for fun. Altogether, it’s a huge assortment that lets you recreate nearly every major scene inside the Death Star.

The set also includes a nicely scaled Lambda-class shuttle with folding wings and engines lit up in blue, perfect for docking in the Death Star hangar. Alongside that, there’s a towering build of the Death Star’s massive superlaser dish, with green beams angled out from the center to capture the look of the weapon as it’s firing.

These shots really drive home the massive scale of the Death Star build, showing just how big it is when set up on a table or displayed on a cabinet. The cross-section structure towers over the minifigures and smaller builds, making it clear this is a centerpiece that commands a lot of space.

The interior builds capture some of the most iconic Star Wars moments, including Luke’s showdown with Darth Vader in front of the Emperor’s throne room window and Obi-Wan’s fateful duel against Vader. These detailed rooms let you set up and recreate the big cinematic battles inside the Death Star.

These scenes showcase the lighter side of the Death Star play features, with Han disguised as a stormtrooper kicking back in a control room alongside C-3PO, and Luke, Han, and Chewbacca sneaking around while trying to stay out of sight.

Here you can see the classic Death Star conference room with Imperial officers seated around the round table alongside Darth Vader, recreating the tense strategy discussions from the film. Next to it is the massive hangar bay setup, complete with stormtroopers lined up and the Emperor making his grand arrival with Vader and royal guards, all centered around the detailed Lambda-class shuttle.

Here’s a close-up look at the Death Star’s interior with its layered detail, and front and center is the special bonus gift you get with purchase. LEGO is including the TIE Fighter™ with Imperial Hangar Rackset (#40771), a 236-piece build that docks neatly onto an Imperial hangar rack attached to the Death Star. The free gift also comes with two Stormtroopers and a Tie Fighter Pilot making it a perfect add-on to expand the hangar scene.

LEGO collectors and Star Wars fans are buzzing as box photos from an eBay seller have revealed what looks to be LEGO’s next massive Ultimate Collector Series set: a colossal new Death Star clocking in at 9,023 pieces. Rumored to launch this October with a staggering $1,000 price tag, the set takes a bold new approach to one of the most iconic super weapons in cinema history. Instead of constructing the entire spherical battle station, this version offers a cutaway cross-section, showcasing the Empire’s super weapon in incredible detail. This design choice allows LEGO to pack in numerous rooms and Easter eggs for builders to discover, giving the set a different kind of depth compared to past renditions. One of the biggest talking points so far has been the decision to only include one half of the Death Star’s sphere. Reactions have been split: some fans appreciate the ability to see more interior detail for the price, while others feel LEGO may be shortchanging collectors who were expecting a full recreation. Still, the reveal of a full docking bay complete with a Lambda-class shuttle has caught attention as a standout inclusion, signaling that LEGO isn’t holding back when it comes to scene-building opportunities.

Here is the eBay listing for the Death Star that these images came from:

The side panels of the Death Star box showcase clean, striking visuals that emphasize the set’s scale and detail. One side features a cinematic-style image of the fully constructed Death Star against a starfield, highlighting its ominous presence in space. The other side gives a close-up of the super-laser dish, with translucent green beams shooting outward to replicate the destructive energy blast. Both sides keep the design minimal with subtle branding, reinforcing the premium Ultimate Collector Series presentation.

The back of the LEGO UCS Death Star box highlights a series of iconic Star Wars scenes recreated in brick form.

The inner panels of the LEGO UCS Death Star box feature exclusive box art illustrations that give the set an extra collector’s touch. One panel showcases Galen Erso, the reluctant architect of the Death Star, rendered in a sketched black-and-white portrait style with the battle station looming behind him. The adjoining panel highlights Grand Moff Tarkin in a stern pose, accompanied by his chilling quote: “Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station.” On the opposite side, the inner box trays continue the theme with bold red-and-black artwork showing Darth Vader in front of what looks to be the Death Star outline in red lasers.

The LEGO UCS Death Star is bursting with characters, packing in an incredible 39 minifigures that span heroes, villains, and the Empire’s military might.
