Hasbro is getting into the holiday spirit with a brand new Marvel Legends Spider-Man inspired by the Marvel Holiday Special, and boy are we thrilled! I just love seeing Spidey decked out in full Santa gear, complete with hat, coat, and a bag full of goodies. The gift accessories are a really fun touch too, and I love how they gave him that festive red and white deco over the classic suit. Preorders are set to open on September 23rd at 1 PM EST as a general release, so mark those calendars! Whether you’re building a holiday display shelf or you just can’t resist a themed Spidey, this one is super exciting. So let’s take a look at the Marvel Legends Spider-Man Marvel Holiday Special figure!
The packaging leans into a festive holiday theme with a red card and snowflake embossing along the bottom section, topped with an icy blue border that gives the whole thing a Christmas morning feel. You can see Spider-Man inside wearing his classic red-and-blue suit under a sculpted red Santa coat with white fur trim, paired with a matching Santa hat, plus a soft goods sack, two wrapped gift accessories, swap hands, and what looks like a small Spider-Man mini figure.
Spider-Man’s Santa coat has some really nice sculpted texture on the white fur trim, with an almost woolly, shaggy quality that contrasts well against the smooth red body of the jacket. I like how the sack slung over his shoulder is soft goods while the coat itself is hard plastic, and you can see the classic webbing detail on his suit peeking through underneath.
Spider-Man’s got a Santa hat in hand here, and I love the sculpted white fur trim along the brim matching the pompom at the tip. The web shooters on his wrists are a nice touch, with the silver buckle detail on his belt breaking up the transition from the red-and-blue suit to the oversized coat.
Spider-Man looks great here with the Santa hat tilted back on his head, and that oversized red velvet sack pooling around his feet adds a real sense of weight and scale to the whole holiday getup. I’m really digging the contrast between the glossy finish on his web-patterned suit and the matte white of the fur-trimmed cuffs on his gloves.
Spider-Man’s Santa hat sits at a jaunty angle here, with the long tail and pompom trailing behind him as the coat’s white fur lapels catch the motion. I noticed that the web-shooting hand has individually sculpted fingers splayed open, and the secondary hand grips the coat’s trailing hem, keeping the whole silhouette feeling composed even in mid-air.
Here’s a closer look at the back of the Santa coat, and the sculpt carries a subtle fabric-like texture across the entire surface that sells the look of a heavy winter jacket. The soft goods sack drags along with a tied-off white drawstring cord, and you can see the blue of his suit from the waist down where the coat ends with its fluffy white hem.
Outfitted with the full Santa coat and hat, Spider-Man looks like he’s mid-swing through a snowy Manhattan, and the way the coat’s tail flares out behind him really sells the sense of motion. You can see the classic black spider emblem right at the center of his chest where the coat hangs open, framed perfectly by the white fur lapels on either side.
The soft goods sack is a nice piece on its own, with a velvety red fabric and a white drawstring cord keeping it cinched shut. One of the repurposed comic book gift accessories is peeking out from the opening, adding a fun little storytelling detail to what could have just been a plain accessory.
Here’s a closer look at the mini Spider-Man accessory, and it’s finished entirely in a uniform red plastic with no additional color apps. I think it’s neat that the two wrapped gift accessories are actually repurposed comic book card accessories with bows painted on, one in red with a gold bow and the other in green with a red bow.
